I've already suggested this in the Dollar Day thread but I'm going to make this it's own mission.
On Dollars Day (June 19th) I'm planning a mass donation instead of a meet up. The idea is that we choose an organization/place to donate to, that way those of us who can't meet up in real life can participate by mailing in donations.
How will we choose who to donate to?
I will be taking nominations via my line account (Starling) or my kik account (dropoutchamp). I'll narrow the choices and then open it up to a vote. If neither of these methods of communication work please let me know by posting on this thread. The nominations will close at sometime in April so that I can tally votes and pick who to donate to by May 1st.
Is there a minimum amount I must donate?
Not at all! This is more about unity and participation. More hands the lighter the work load!
What if I want to donate cash? Is there an account to do so?
If there is an overwhelming amount of people wanting to donate cash I will open an account on fundly or a similar website, that way the amount donated can be monitored publicly. I will then provide photographic evidence of the donation.
Do you need help organizing this event?
Absolutely! I'm looking for people in various locations to recruit and organize members. If you're interested please contact me via line or kik.

Consider donating to doctors with out borders. They take very little compared to other charities (ie habitat for humanity) for personal profit. Also they have a noble cause.

Why don't we just all donate to a charity of our choice indervidually it would draw less attention than putting a load of money into one, plus we can help more that way

Because if we give a mass donation once a year to different charities then we can give a boast in those charities, keep it anonymous and it wont draw attention to the Dollars.

Also I believe the dollars needs to have some recognition. Granted the dollars is supposed to not have a goal or anything, but there was still organized factions/moments within the dollars which worked toward a collective good. Also, even in the anime the dollars were recognized by the media, although the media was unable to define them. Many feel that if the dollars were to be associated with a good deed in the public eye it would motivate more people to do more good.

but remember, June 19th is actually the day Reltair created this website and June 19th should only be celebrated as a Dollars holiday.
Though I would recommend to move the date to another date, since we only have 3-4 months left until June. I'm just only saying that we should move the date for this event.

Why dont we set up a paypal for the donations and who ever donates comments a charity and we go with the majority vote or just send it out to mutiple charities?

But I agree that we really need a place to see the ammount of money donated live as seeing the progress is a great motivation!

Crowdrise, it's a site similar to kickstarter but is for mass donations. Sounds convenient. Only drawback is they take 3%.

I also have a super neat idea so that EVERYONE can participate! I'm putting a box of supplies together to send come June 19th. If you wish to donate, but have no way of doing so I would be willing to take requests. Essentially, fellow dollars could make a wish list of items they most appropriate for donation. Those that make the wish list will be represented in the supply box I plan on sending.

First off, thanks for the great idea and organization! Starling, I'm a little confused by your last post, do you mean we can send you money and you'll send the supplies we request?

If so, I think that's a good idea, and I'd be glad to send some. If not, I might just take up that responsibility myself!

On that note though, when sending cash, always use first class cardboard envelopes rather than regular ones to decrease the chance of money being stolen.

I thought about this a bit and I decided I'm just going to send a money order to Hope for Haiti rather than organizing supplies to send. Shipping costs alot, this way we can give more to the cause. 2 days before the 19th I'll send it out so it gets there on time, I'll take a picture of the money order and post it here so you can add that in to our full ammount raised!

Just wanting to say that I'm no longer going to send my donation to Hope for Haiti. Currently, the Balkans have been devastated by the largest flood to hit the area on record.
