This is a new thread which will take the place of every simple mission related to spreading a message, especially the slogan, "The world isn't as bad as you think." If you make a thread about posting that slogan anywhere, you will be redirected here. This thread will also include any other small messages like, "Smile!" or, "-insert inspirational message here-" or any similar note in any media/medium.

The mediums which we're talking about include but are not limited to: letters, cards, post-it notes, post cards, note cards, social media posts, emails, newspaper ads, tape, drawing paper, message in a bottle, balloon, messenger fucking pigeon, or any other medium you could imagine to send somebody a few words. Seriously, we have about 200 of the same exact mission to spread little messages with simply different mediums. It's every newb's go-to mission to make when they join the site.

This thread is simply replacing all of that spam. The next post will contain the majority of the suggestions from the threads which its replacing along with links to each of them.

Feel free to read through the rest of this thread or to post some more ideas. These are pretty simple missions which anyone can do in their free time and are great for those who are just starting off on the board ^o^ Please try to avoid making duplicates of the previously suggested ideas in this thread, though, to help keep the thread itself as uncluttered as possible.

Here are some of the missions which have been spread throughout the site which this thread is overtaking. Feel free to add your own after checking them out, but keep related ideas as a post in this thread and not in their own individual threads; we'll keep a bumped archive similar to the one the Smaller Missions Thread has once members start adding their own ideas in-thread.

I actually wrote the majority of this out before the big Missions sweep, so don't be surprised if a lot of the threads I linked were already removed by the time I posted this.

1. anneko: Write, "You are not alone... The world isn't as bad as it seem, so SMILE! -The Dollars." on any electronics you have access to in tech stores like Best Buy.

2. Taro Tanaka !PKt//nzxc2: Write something inspirational/motivating/positive on a business card with the Dollars logo and information.

3. anneko / theblackrabbit: Print out a piece of paper with an inspirational message on it, put a ribbon on it, attack an origami star to the end of the ribbon, and then post it anywhere or give it to somebody specific. | OR | Write a wish for yourself or others on it and keep it until it comes true.

4. Hiime: Make business cards with the slogan on them and distribute them with a few dollars attached at bustops, rest areas, or cafes.

5. rockergirl7760: Send mass emails with the slogan out to random people or friends.

6. Sayuri: Use a bluetooth phone to send inspirational messages to strangers' phones; change your bluetooth name to something like, "Dollars," before doing so.

7. Arika: Print out a paper that says, "Smile!" and post it somewhere.

8. Karen-Orihara: Distribute little slips full of inspirational messages in fence slots or tape to buildings (..? there was a bit of a language barrier here).

9. Cazzy: Write, "Smile!" and an inspirational message on a post card. Optional: Draw an anime or cartoon character smiling on it. You can distribute these by hand or put them in library books or on cafe tables, etc. Don't put them in people's mailboxes ('tis illegal), but you can put them between the flag and the mailbox. I love this mission and hate to replace it...:c Gotta do what ya gotta do.

10. E: Post print outs that say, "Smile!" all over the place.

11. Izaya Orihara: Write an inspirational message on a sticky note in sharpee and stick it to somebody's car.

12. MissyPennyLane: Write inspirational messages on walls using moss graffiti.

13. Anónimo: Post an inspirational or happy message anywhere in any way.

14. Todd: Write encouraging letters addressed to, "You, the perfect person you are," and leave them on tables in coffee shops, etc.

15. Chise: Write the Dollars slogan on bright colored balloons.

16. CeltysCat !!XI8GEi6V: Write the Dollars slogan on black balloons and distribute them at fairs, carnivals, parks, etc.

17. Kariu: Write the Dollars slogan on a dollar bill and distribute it to the needy.

18. Rockergirl7760: Write the Dollars slogan on cards/posters and hand them out to people.

19. SabrinaSelene: Write inspirational phrases on pill-shaped rocks and distribute them in women's purses. It's a horrible idea; don't do it.

20. CelticMaster: Write the Dollars slogan on a dollar bill and put it in a book at your public library.

21. PolarCube !fagtripcode: Write the dollars slogan on a sticky note and stick it somewhere.

22. N564: Leave notes with thought provoking questions in varous places to make people question their values. It's another stupid idea.

23. Winchester: Write inspirational messages about why life is great and/or lists of why living is worth it and leave them in random places.

24. SlackMaster !IUZzEys2W6: Make bead bracelets with inspirational phrases/words spelled out on them. Distribute them in envelopes with inspirational letters in them.

25. Elsen: Give away random things like flowers/candy/compliments or, BAM, cards with inspirational messages.

26. Kiyuki: Write an inspirational poem, and leave it in a library book at your school.

27. Stupid Fucktard: Graffiti the Dollars logo for publicity. Another horribly stupid idea.

28. Kowai Wolf: Write words of encouragement on people's hands.

29. Mahiru: Decorate for the holidays and leave holiay related charms/notes/presents around with inspirational messages the Dollars password.

30. MomoHoworth !/YVpSja1a6: Draw an inspirational chalk picture somewhere public.

31. Gaby: Write inspirational messages on fifty flash cards and hand them out at public places.

32. NightHeart: On an A3 piece of paper, write a bunch of questions about why people aren't smiling anymore and then offer some of your own. Optional, write an inspirational message on the back.

33. Shadow: Slyly pass around surveys which include questions about what people would think of a group like this website. Basically, another stupid idea.

34. Gameguy96: Post notes around wishing people a happy day.

35. Shiro66: Write, "Hope," the Dollars slogan, and an inspirational message on a piece of paper and post it around. Optional, also post it on your facebook wall.

36. BB-chan: Write the Dollars slogan on a long piece of paper and leave a pen so people can sign below it for an unknown/pointless reason.

37.NightHeart: Leave the Dollars slogan in a Geocache.

It was a lot of work for one person going through every vaguely titled thread individually from the archive to see if they were note duplicates. I stopped after lurking to the 200 post mark and CTRL+F'ing related tags for a while.

Thus, I'd like to request you do as I did in this post and link to any threads which seem that they could be merged into here which weren't already linked ^^' Include a basic description of what they talked about in case it gets deleted so the suggestion still lives on somewhere.

45. technicalRain: Send a nice, inspiring (preferably anonymous)message to someone in need like Homestuck's character Calliope.

46. Seathes: Beautify your environment by leaving flowers in a public place. Attach a note with the message "The world isn't as bad as you think ~ Dollars".

47. Yousei: Post a weekly message, poem, video, image, interview etc. that caught your interest on a social networking site and tag them with "Dollars".

48. Mizutoki: Go to Wordle.net and create a word cloud with the name "Dollars" and words like peace, love, hope, happiness etc. Type "Dollars" 4 to 5 times to make it bigger inside the cloud, and put your cloud/s up in your neighbourhood.

49. ShadowSnake141: Print out the given "Dollars" template, cut the cards out and distribute them.

50. Dias !Fwa6UqgPqQ: Look for nice, advisory quotes like the ones by Ghandi, print them out and form a Origami crane ("tsuru") out of each note. Glue or tape the tsurus together and carry them with you. Give these out to people in need of advice and ask them to cherish their tsuru.

51. Anon: Wear something to mark yourself as a Dollar and give out cards which say "Smile! the world isn't as bad as u think." on a specific day (Dollars Day).

52. Alaska: Print out the given "Dollars"-template and slip them into other people's mailboxes.

53. Shimizu: Put a sticky note with the message "You are beautiful <3. Pass it on" in a place where people go to in order to beautify or take care of themselves.

I forget the mission number, but there was a mission about mailing stuff to people. I had an idea for it, what if we put a dollar in the envelope? Cause lets face it, people like money. Money makes lots of people happy. Unless you're a nun or something, then you'd give the money to the poor. Then the poor would be happy. Lets make the world happy. :)

Okay, so I started this at my Highschool and saw so many people perk up an smile do to it soo... Here's my mission for you. You might have seen pictures of this on the internet and such, so it may seem familiar. Take a sticky note and write down, " Warning: Reflections in this mirror may be distorted do to socially constructed ideas of beauty." Then on another sticky note, "Smile, and have a nice day, Beautiful." Go into a bathroom( preferably empty) and stick it in the corner of the mirror. You'd be surprised how many people's days you can make.

If you can't read it, the little red marks are from someone writing "This ^^ <3" in lipstick. I guess some girl at my school saw it and decided to comment. xD

That's a nice idea ! Here it's holidays for the moment but I try to do that when school start. :)

I plan on making large signs to nail to street posts around my area with the Dollars motto written on them. I think it'll be a nice thing for people to see as they go about their business. Perhaps other Dollars members could do it in their areas as well.

I've started doing a lot of these around school, and they've definately been noticed by people. I usually write either "The world isn't as bad as you make it out to be" or "Frown less, Smile more" on the notes I leave behind.

So I'm planning on posting some post-it notes with the message "Smil, verden er ikke så ille som du tror den er" (Norwegian for "Smile, the world isn't as bad as you think it is") at school. I have however run into a problem. Should I sign the notes? And if yes, should I sign them with "-Dollarne" or "-The dollars". The two alternatives mean the same, it's just a matter of language. Please give me your opinion so I can start spreading the message..

Along with those, I also printed out the QR code that was made in the QR Code thread, as well as a higher-resolution version I made of the Dollars Member card (the one with the space for email addresses) made by another member here as well.

I'm really excited about doing this! I got quite a few sheets of each printed, and I've let some friends know about it who are willing to help, so I'll give them copies as well. I pretty much have an endless supply, since I work at my school and can get free prints for being a student worker. ^^
Now all there's left to do is withdraw a little cash from the ATM so that I can always have a few spare dollars on hand so that I can leave them in places along with the cards.

Let's all keep working together to make this happen! <3

Oh, and like I mentioned in my post above, I made a larger version of one of the cards that another member made and posted and one of the other threads >"< I made it to be 3.5x2" (1050x700 px) because that seems to be the standard regular business card size. ^^

My first mission as a newb!

Make QR codes like the above with inspirational messages to brighten someone's day using this website. Then, print them to post on bulletins, email them to strangers, etc.

This mission is to print out or design your own Take What You Need sign (like the above) and post it around public areas. These signs basically have a list of amiable traits that some people may be lacking. They can easily pull a tab off and take it with them, giving them a boost of confidence in the areas related to the tag they took.

To make the tabs easy to rip off, just do a straight cut between each word so that they're like fringe. As for what words to have on them, anything pleasant will work. There are plenty of interesting layouts around since the concept has been fairly popular online as of recent.

Remember to click the image and save it from the window that opens up. Always save from the source; otherwise, you may not be getting its full size nor quality.

I make origamis (animals, airplanes, anything) with messages to leave around the city or around the school.

Hey Dollars!
Making somebody's day could be as simple as smiling at them. Smile at everybody, give them a quick compliment as you pass people. Waiting in line somewhere? At school for lunch? The DMV? A fast food restaurant? Compliment the person next to you, simple as that.
You can leave one of those printed out cards from above along with a tip for your server at a restaurant. Hand back one of those cards right before you leave a drive thru. Pass one to any cashier when making a purchase! Pass one of those cards to your teachers. If you're still in school, maybe write the Dollars slogan or "smile" on your desk (with pencil! And not too big! It comes off with a wipe anyway and I've done something similar in the past and every day i'd see something new written next to it like a smiley face or hearts.) Even smile or wave happily at somebody at a stop light when out for a drive! I know some of us have probably written "wash me" on a car with our fingers once in our lives. Instead of doing that, next time write "Smile!".

It is so simple to make somebody smile! You don't even /have/ to print one of those cards out, write it on a piece of paper with your neatest handwriting, maybe a circle with "Dollars" written in its center as signature. So, simple.

I really love this idea. I had the idea to do something like this in the toilets at my school at the beginning of last year, but I didn't get around to it. Now, I am definitely going to (once school holidays end). I left a sticky note in a public bathroom at a cafe yesterday... I hope some one sees it. Hey guys, I've been doing this around my school! Leaving positive messages on the girls bathroom mirrors and it's defiantly having an effect. I've seen girls walk in, read the messages and they just get this huge smile on their faces and I love it. I love seeing these messages making people happy. I'm going to keep doing this for as long as I'm in school because this is honestly just fantastic.

(sorry it took me so long to post this to all the ones I told ahead of time)

So when school starts in a few days I had an idea of something we could do. We could make hearts like the ones in the picture.

Here is a video for those of you who don't know how to make them

on the outside it could say "Anyone can open."

on the back it could say "-Dollars"

On the inside I still have no idea what to write, but it should end with "pass this message heart on"

do you guys think this is a good idea?

This is nice, especially around exam time it might cheer people up and give them that extra little push. Definitely adding this to my missions.

This is so fucking awesome. I'm trying to do a lot of these ideas in my town. I liked the one saying "Sorry about what happened to you - The Dollars" and leave it in my school. A girl of my school commited suicide some weeks ago, and I am going to leave her a note from all the dollars! Hope this makes her happier wherever she is!

Because Christmas is soon here, I make "gifts" from boxes of matches. And I put in them papers with words (like: "The world isn't as bad as you think. -dollars" or "Smile, you are perfect person! -dollars") that have improved the day to whoever finds it. I am variously put around the city, so as to give easy to find. And sorry about my english... q_q

It's always good to stick with the old deal and leave one of our mottos in a public place with a link and pass for the site.

I have an idea: Buy a bunch of flowers and stick a message of 'Smile! The world isn't as bad as you think' to them, possibly leaving a dollars sign and/or website. Then either place them somewhere for passerbyers to grab one (and maybe watch nearby or just come back later to see if they're all gone) OR simply pass them out somewhere.

Since exams are coming up at my uni, I'm thinking I'll make a heap of cards with quotes and motivational messages on them (along with the dollars sign and info) an leave them around libraries and study places! Maybe I'll even put together a study playlist and add the link!

That idea Yumi-chan16 posted about the little gift boxes gt me thinking. I kind of want to make little boxes and put bracelets and necklaces in them along with a card that has the dollars slogan, logo, and website on it, then leave them all over the place in parking lots, sidewalks, parks, etc. So then people can wear this jewlery and think to themselves how the universe told them the world wasn't such a bad place, and maybe... just maybe then there will be more fellow awesome Dollars in St. Louis! Spread the word of the Dollars EVERYWHERE!!

I have a new message mission for you all. I didn't see this mentioned anywhere else. So I'm mentioning it here!

November is Epilepsy awareness month and I would like more people to know about it. The color for Epilepsy awareness month is purple. So I would just like it for you mission doers to spread the message around anyway you can. This way more people will maybe take the time to learn more about what epilepsy is and how it affects the daily lives of millions of people. post that "November is Epilepsy awareness month" associated with the color purple on any of your social media. I think epilepsy needs some looking into because it doesn't get the spotlight as often as other conditions that people have. For example, Epilepsy in America is as common as breast cancer, and takes as many lives (Here's a link to an article: http://www.newsweek.com/epilepsy-overlooked-and-underfunded-77467 ). I would just like to say that this really works! My sisters, a few friends, and I were walking back to the car from a restaurant earlier this evening, and we saw this in an alleyway that we were walking through. It really made our day! I had already wanted to leave nice messages around, but experiencing the effect of it firsthand made me realize how much such a small gesture could do. I definitely plan to do something similar to pass on the joy that I have received from these kind strangers!
