The Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen is kicking off again this year!

GISHWHES is a week long event where users around the world form teams of fifteen and perform specific acts of kindness--as well as acts of I don't even--and take clear photos of them doing it. Many of them are humorous. Some are slightly illegal. Discretion is advised for everyone who participates, but in the end, it is a great experience.

I was speaking with BBS user HAM about GISHWHES, and we decided to put together a team for the more determined BBS users to join, as well as offline friends of our own. It's pretty obvious we're not going to win the grand prize against the hardcore groups. We'll try anyway ;D

Important Information:
+ It costs $10 to join. ($19 is the recommended package.)
+ All ages are welcome! (They don't even ask for your birthday.)
+ You don't have to use your real name when you sign up.
+ You can change your name at any point.

Grand Prize:
This prize is awarded to the team with the highest final score according to our judges. Remember, bonus points are awarded for better item submissions, so quality counts. The winning team will win a three-day, all-expense-paid trip to Vancouver, BC where they will take a seaplane to an island and be joined by Misha Collins for a fish stew, a séance, and a Viking treasure hunt. In addition to the trip to Vancouver and any Viking treasure they find, members of the winning team will also receive the GISHWHES Golden Wooster Pendant. We only make 15 pendants every year. Wearing it will forever mark you as one of the Grand Masters of GISHWHES.

Runner-Ups:
Several teams that really knock the judges’ socks off will be Runner-Ups. These are the teams that scavenge so well we simply have to recognize their greatness. Teams that scavenge so-hard-they-almost-won-but-didn’t will receive limited edition personalized GISHWHES medallions as well as a GISHWHES Screensaver and a certificate recognizing their greatness from Misha and the entire GISHWHES team.

Gish-Referrer Grand Prize:*
After registering for GISHWHES, you will be presented with a “refer a friend” option. If you refer a friend, and they, in turn register for GISHWHES, your name will be placed in a drawing to join the winning team and Misha in Vancouver. You can gift them this registration if you wish or simply invite them. Every individual you refer increases your chance of winning. The more of them that sign up, the better your odds. If you’ve already registered, invite a friend.

GISHWHES Hall of Fame (GHOF):
Think you have no chance of winning or even being a runner-up? Wrong. For each item, our judges will be selecting the Best of the Best for presentation in the GHOF. So if you think there’s no chance you’ll win (quitter.), simply spend the week seeking fame making a few of the most incredible items the world has ever seen. For example, if one of the items is: build a six-foot long syringe and use it to inject goose-feather-down into a Smart Car, and your team makes the best giant goose-feather-down syringe, your team name and its item will be forever memorialized on a special location on the GISHWHES website and one other secret soon-to-be-announced location.

Display in the GISHWHES Coffee Table Book:
Each year, GISHWHES publishes a Coffee Table Book filled with images and videos of that year’s hunt. If your item catches the eye of our coffee table book selectors as being artistic, funny, gross, or simply too weird not to display to the world, it will be displayed in the coffee table book that you can hand down generation to generation until your great grandchild receives it and marvels at the insanity of their ancestors. So make your submissions awesome to give your great grandkids something to scratch their heads at.

GISHWHES Participation Reward:
Simply participating in GISHWHES will change both you and the world around you. We don’t necessarily mean for the better (although based on testimonials that’s usually the case), but we promise you will be changed. What more of a prize do you need than this? We know, much more, so try for 1-5 above…

Let me put it out there that this mission does /not/ involve meeting in person in any way, shape, or form. We'll each choose what ones on the list we want to do, share them here, and them post them on the site. So don't worry about that aspect, guys c:

Misha has put up a little flash game, where anyone can enter the "GISHWHES Castle". You can explore the castle, look at photos from last years GISHWHES, answer the robot's weird questions, listen to Misha eating an apple, and read the funny "riddles" to exit each room. At the end of the game, you get a surprise email from Misha! Which I hate him for, but still; go at it! xD

Haha I did this last year and it's really a lot of fun! If you have a week of free time or even if you don't, I suggest joining and playing along too. Who knows, your team might be the winning one this year ;)
