Alright, so I'm not sure how well this is going to go, but I say it's worth a try, so why the hell not?

Many of you have probably heard that tomorrow night/Sunday morning, Toonami will be re-airing on adult swim some time between 12-3AM. The schedule is here if you want to look at it. Two new shows have been added: Deadman Wonderland, and Sasshern Sins.

Here's how it's going down: the execs at AS are doing this on an experimental basis. Funding is limited, and they either will or will not continue the programming lineup based on the ratings for the first few weeks.

Now, some of you probably aren't convinced with the lineup. I'm not convinced with the lineup personally; there are shows I'd rather be seeing on there. However, that's irrelevant if the entire program gets scrapped upon its inception. So here's what needs to be done:

From 12AM to 3AM on Sunday, 5/27/2012, have at least one television set turned on to Cartoon Network/Adult Swim. During this three hour time slot, the act of watching these shows and the advertisements between them will be recorded by the network. The network will receive funding, and will transfer a good portion of that funding back into the Toonami program.

The point of this mission is to artificially inflate the ratings. There are no guarantees that it will work, but there's a good chance it will lead to something. Either Adult Swim will start airing more anime, or they will expand Toonami's hours back to 9PM on Saturday like they used to be.

The choice is yours, guys. What do the viewers demand?

i'm looking at it and i don't see it say anything about it... is there a different link?

I can't; no TV in my room. I don't think we're going to be able to make much of a difference, but there's nothing wrong with trying. Good luck to those of you who do this mission; turn the timer off of the TV if it automatically turns off after a couple hours lol

>>3 Considering there's less than a few hundred of us here, it's a stretch. But, we've all seen Anonymous pull off things like this, and there was that more recent example where SourceFed vlogger Lee Newton made the Maxim Top 100 sexiest women of 2012. So anything's possible (not saying she isn't attractive; she's just not well known outside Youtube).

I was gonna do this anyway lol. Although there've got to be a lot more people thinking this exact same thing. I'm gonna look for it on facebook...

I planned on watching Toonami anyways, it was the only enjoyment I had as a young teen and progressively want to see more shows. So I will await tommarow to see that this is what I wantfo anime, because funimation fucken took down their channel.

DRRR!! Has true dramatic depth. Does Deadman match DRRR!! in that department, or is it just one of those shows that's all atmosphere, and violence? Not that I dislike those type of shows, but DRRR!! has great writting, pace, etc.

>>19 You obviously have never watched Deadman Wonderland in its entirety. It has a fuckton more depth, better story in general, better animation, better art, shittons of plot twists, better gore, better action, more interesting circumstances amongst the fights... It just does not even compare to Drrr!!.

Just sayin'.

Missed Deadman, check it out later on crunchyroll.

Either way, DRRR!! is still one of the best to come out of Japan, it will continue, and it is a big part of why I sought this site out. I'm all for fans who want this show on the AS roster-I'm one of them. I want to soak in that atmosphere of being part of something thats part of something I think is great, and I'm sure there are others here in the same boat.

As for overplayed, write to cowboy bebop.

24 Name: MKOLLER !YYk5m0jo12 : 2012-05-27 09:38 ID:TtSnX7rn [Del]

Words. Fail me.

Funny how a thread about increasing the visibility of a network and indirectly improving its potential, something ALL fanbases should be able to agree on, turns into an all-out debate over whether or not one series should be shown over another. Point. Missed.

Allow me to point something out: Toonami and the former Adult Swim anime block only get six hours a week, and they have to pick their shows in a manner that allows them to achieve the highest possible ratings.

Why is Cowboy Bebop up there after over ten years? The fans demand it. Why isn't Durarara? Because the fans do not. DRRR!! played from June of last year into the winter of 2012. It basically had two cycles of all 24 episodes (the two bonus episodes may or may not have shown, I don't know for sure). Personally, I'd like to see Code Geass on the block again over DRRR!!, but I know that is dependent on the input Adult Swim (and now Toonami) receive. If you're really that focused on getting yet another cycle of DRRR!!, then get as many people as you can to write to the network. Or...shut up.

Anyway, since it's now Sunday, it looks as if we've done what we can. We'll see what happens when the ratings come out. If Toonami is indeed successful, they will be given a permanent position among the AS lineup, and possibly more airtime (Expanding from six hours to nine would be a huge leap).

I obviously disagree.

After years of putting up with crap like Kekkaishi, S-Cry-Ed reruns of good shows that have been played to death, mediocre DVD/ Blu-Ray releases of titles that are way too cliche, DRRR!! is, to me, a revelation in dramatic personable, storytelling. For once, I didn't have to cringe at horrible dialogue, and terrible english voice acting. I know it seems like I'm overpraising this show, but that's how I see it.

I don't need them to put DRRR!! back on the schedule, because its had its time, and eventually it will have new episodes, I just think that if people can't get over Cowboy Bebop, and the second season of Big O( both shows I do like)and appreciate something like DRRR!!, Death Note, and yes, Code Geass, there not looking below the surface for good writting, direction, etc, there just looking for simple action, and that kind of sucks, in my opinion.

It also prevents good shows from making a domestic TV release.

It's the same thing as network television. Good shows get cancelled, but crap like How I Met Your Mother goes on.

As for shows I want to see on Toonami, I would like to see Monster get another shot.

29 Name: BarabiSama!!C8QPa1Mt : 2012-05-27 19:11 ID:y1c/DGpI [Del]

>>28 It's not that people aren't "getting over" Coyboy Bebop, GitS, and Big-O. It's that they're classics. For the majority of Toonami fans who actually gave their input, they're shows that don't get old; you can rewatch them and enjoy them.

Newer shows come and go. Bleach and FMA are still around because they are long and has plenty of episodes to mix around and rerun, and they both have a very large fanbase. Drrr!!, on the other hand, was a newer show that ran through its few episodes plenty of times already. It's not a classic, and there's no good reason for it to be continued. It has a big fanbase, but that fanbase is nowhere near as big as that of other larger animes.

They want to keep their old fans, so they keep the classics, and in order to get new fans, they show more new shows. I, for one, am happy that they're showing new things rather than rerunning through short series that they've already showed three times over.

>>29 have* have very large fanbases*

There's another show that I want to be on Toonami/AS again... But I forgot the name of it. Is there a list of the animes they used to have anywhere?

31 Name: samuraigundam : 2012-05-27 19:26 ID:6cUGRJEt [Del]

>>29

I think DRRR!! is a new classic, at least more so than Big O, a show I enjoyed for the first season, but kind of unravelled in the second. I can't stand ambiguous endings.

As for a list, Wikipedia probably has something like that.

>>32

I would love to know what you think is classic.

I'm surprised at the number of people who do not fully appreciate the depth of this show, and how very un-cliche it is.

I think only an adolescent would not be able to understand, and enjoy the human psychology of these characters.

34 Name: MKOLLER !YYk5m0jo12 : 2012-05-28 05:18 ID:wn2bmAH9 [Del]

>>33 The same could be and has been said of many other titles. As far as movies go, the Matrix Trilogy and Fight Club make the list. If you're talking Music, think Led Zeppelin and Freddie Mercury. But you have to bear in mind one thing.

People will disagree.

People have different tastes, and people see symbolism differently from you. I feel the philosophies of sentient AI and transcendentalism that are prevalent in Ghost in the Shell trump the Mob Mentality/Anonymous themes of DRRR!! and I know you will disagree. And that's OK.

However, that does not detract from the fact that the majority rules, and the ratings decide what goes on the air. Now shut up about your obsession with Durarara!! or get the fuck out.

I'm not telling people to like the show, I'm trying to emphasize its value.

Of course you can think, and like whatever you want. I was defending what I like because people were trashing it, which is something anyone would do. I'm not arguing!

Are you telling me I can't discuss the validity of what I like without pissing someone like you off? I don't understand why your so pissed over something like this, but I think I'll take the high road, and try not to be pissed when someone who doesn't know me, tells me to fuck off.

Seeing as how I just got here, I don't want to make enemies, but I think I have the right to discuss whatever I want, within context, which is what I'm doing. You're taking it too seriously.

36 Name: MKOLLER !YYk5m0jo12 : 2012-05-28 11:43 ID:wn2bmAH9 [Del]

>>35 "Are you telling me I can't discuss the validity of what I like without pissing someone like you off?"

No. I'm telling you that you can't discuss the validity of what you like on a thread where that has absolutely no place in the discussion. You cannot compare apples to oranges even if you think they are the same thing.

And I don't care if you're a new member; learn some goddamn forum etiquette. If something is outside the context of a thread, and you get called out on it (especially if the OP calls you out on it), then you best acknowledge your mistake and go somewhere else where your thoughts are within the context of the discussion. In short: Learn your place.

I told you multiple times that the discussion was about the network and not the anime. You can't seem to get it through your thick head. So I really don't know what to say at this point.

I admit your right, to the extent that this is not the right thread to discuss this, but you didnt have to be so rude about it in every post you directed toward me. "fuck off" isn't exactly proper etiquette either.

If you look at it from the beggining, you'll see that it started off having to do with why I thought it should be on the schedule, but me conceding that it did not have to be. And it wasn't just me running the discussion.

But, yes, I'll stop now.

*Sigh* So much rudeness in this thread. Oh well...Its not like me posting a useless reply is going to do anything. And, people, please don't get pissed at someone just because they have different opinions on what shows they like...It's unprofessional and quite frankly, one of the least useful things you can do.
