Well, I don't think anyone ever got around to making it, so I guess I will, since I have the free time.

If you've seen the thread addressing the "Excessive Call for Good Deeds", then you'll know what this is for. If not, then I'll explain:

This thread is for "smaller" missions - them being, the ones absolutely anyone could do. Small things, like the smiles mission, or anything involving cleaning litter and graffiti and all those other things that get suggested 6 times a week."

If you have something small, post it here to reduce clutter and help keep the site organized. I guess I'll start it off in the next post.

A few days ago, I made a cake (that didn't end up killing me) and brought it to a senior citizens center, since my friend volunteers there. Then, I realized that bringing only one cake would seem unfair, so I went back home with my friend and make like, 7. Then we brought it down to the home and shared it with some of the elderly there. :D
This reminded me of a quote once said by Marie Antoinette, "If they have no bread, let them eat cake."
Well, she went to the guillotine not too long after.
My point is, however, cake makes everyone happy, so if you have time, you should make a cake and donate it to a homeless shelter, or a Food Kitchen. If you can't do that, then make bring in cake for work or school. Make people happy with the power of cake.

Now if you're like me and can't cook shit in the kitchen, have a friend help out like I did! We had plenty of fun. Well, there it is o_0 First mission, I hope I don't get shot.

Cake! :D My Grandpa has a retirment home so when ever I go visit him I always talk to the old ppl, they get really lonely you know, their real families never go see them, so much so they all treat me like their son. :P I dont think these guys can eat cake though but on new years and other holidays I help my grandpa make a party for them :) Maybe someone else can do something like that too.

Alright, I've got a challenge for all new and less active members.

It seems like almost every other day a new mission pops up about different ways to spread the word about the Dollars, but why? Why even have new members when the only mission we can offer them is "get even more members."?

In all my life it's always seemed that the people who preach the loudest about all of what they've done do less than those who don't say a word.


So, the challenge is like this. Take some time and think OUTSIDE the Dollars box. Think about something that you can do to help and do it. Don't make a plan, don't try to find a reason why "everyone else should too," just do it and leave. If someone spots you and offers you something in return, reject it (politely as possible, of course.)
I do know that I'm being fairly vague with this, but so many people forget what it's like to give without getting back. If you do things without getting in return, people notice, and it gets people to do so much more than a piece of paper that says "come to our website."

I had this idea just a few moments ago in my class. Work locally to stop bullying as we witness it AND post up flyers or something of what bullying is and the deadly potential it can create. Example: one boy a few years back was bullied for being gay. He reported it. The faculty did nothing whatsoever to help him. His parents even complained to the principle, who replied...
"Well, maybe he shouldn't be so openly gay."

That plain outraged me. Now I realize this all happened years ago, but who's to say that it won't happen again huh?

Now the worst part of it all is this last part. He was assaulted and batteryed (spell check please) just for being gay! Nobody did ANYthing to stop, prevent, or fix this!

People, we may have to go into drastic measures... why, just recently at MY school, I saw a kid being bullied for being a smart kid! See, he's an HS senior, but only 15! He's a genius!
Now he's also a really funny and entertaining guy of his situation acedemically... but he's got quite a few friends - myself included.
My theory is as follows... -ahem-

He's being bullied mainly for envy from the said bullies. Other people KNOW he's being bullied, but these guys are HUGE. Held back a year or two I assume, judging by their sizes. I'm 6' tall. They're both at least 6' 6"!

Okay, yeah, I obviously reported this incident, but not much was done. the bullies were suspended, but only for a few days. They'll be back next week. I'm honestly afraid for this kid's well being.
He hasn't been assaulted or batteried, but the teasing is absolutely non-stop. I try to stop 'em, but every time I approach them, I freeze up or end up fleeing like the yellow-bellied coward I know I am...

I've posted my DA account (umbra-serpens.deviantart.com) in the Art thread. I'm kind of tight on cash, so I decided to do these commissions to make a few ends meet. I'm making it a smaller mission now, because I actually need the extra money in order to pay for car repairs and gas.

It’s mainly for commissioning language arts, rather than images though. I do poems, short stories, lyrics re-writes, and letters to that person you can’t speak to because you can’t find the words to express how you feel. These letters can be out of anger, love, or you just wanted to tell them something, but the way you worded it in that Facebook message looked awful. I also do grammar and spell check for assignments and stories under ten pages.

I will probably add more to that list if I think of things, and will obviously consider other requests that are sent in.

Prices will be tailored to the request, and all transactions will be paid for through PayPal.

Some proceeds may go to a charity of my choosing once I've fixed a few things on my car.

Ah ha here it is no wonder I couldn't find it. Ya know we really should make categories in this mission thread. There could be one for smaller missions, one for petitions, one for donations, etc. It would make finding good things to do and where to put them a hell of a lot easier.

I already told you. People aren't going to check a spam-filled board. That's why the older members tend to not check Countries unless it's something important; that whole board just get the shit spammed out of it, and nobody wants to see that. That's how a smaller missions board would become.

This board has a purpose, and it is to accompany these things. If you suddenly break everything up into a sub board, what will go here? Nothing, that's what. And this thread isn't for convenience; it's for order. Without it, all the good missions would get lost between missions that don't need their own thread.

honestly do not think the cast of hit notes there is a big help. with such a large group like this can do many other important things. for example someone helpless on the street give a packet of biscuits, which does not cost much, so he can eat something. avoid throwing bottles and trash on the street if they see a wounded animal to the vet take it or just smile and help someone who was lost not a matter of just hitting notes and write tickets. you can do many things (probably wrong because this is the translator of google)

Where I live it rains a lot and I sometimes see people getting wet in the rain, sometimes they even have groceries and what not getting soaked.. I haven't done this mission yet but what if we were to let people come under our umbrella when it's raining or if you really want to go all out, buy a few cheap umbrellas and give them to people that look as if they need them.

For my own idea though, a really simple one: every time I go anywhere, I always open the door and hold it for everyone who goes by, even before that certain advertisement about kindness. Heck, I've even stood at the door for five minutes just to make sure everyone goes through. Young, old, especially when I see someone who is in a wheelchair or has a lot of stuff in their hands (and janitors trying to wheel supplies in and out of buildings at my college). What I'm saying basically is, I think more people should just take the time, when they have it or even just try and make the time, to open a door and hold it open for their fellow human (and animal of course too; can't leave out the pets and especially service animals). Knowing you just helped someone out even the tiniest bit can make even the coldest day warm I think ^w^

You know what's cute? You can get miniature mattes (a matte is basically a paper frame, you could say) that fit index/flash cards. Then you draw or paint on the normal side, write whatever you want on the other side, and put in. It would be best to pin the open side and put a little hook on it or something; plus, if it's closed off, they're probably not going to try to look at the back. (I don't know why, but I find it cool to think that one day farther down the road, they might look at it and realize it was there and they never noticed >u>')

I'm not sure how to give it to someone at my school, though :\ The classes are packed. Unless you slip it in their locker (which is stupid since nobody uses their lockers), I'm not sure how I could get it to someone.

My school has seating charts, but getting to class early is difficult. Everyone tends to arrive in groups depending on what wing their last classes were in. Since we don't really get enough between class time to chitchat, everyone just rushes off to their classes.

This is a duplicate of a thread that I made on the main page of the Missions area. I was informed that it should be moved here.

So yea, I'm not sure about you guys but, if you haven't already, it may be a good idea to start your own Dollars group in you area. And by that I mean that the Dollars is of course one group, but seeing as we all live all over the world, it's good to have different minor groups for your city. Like I have my own group and I actually started the group before I knew anything about the Dollars, and we go by the name of Phoenix. We do the same thing as this group does and we're part of this group as well in one way or another, but we section ourselves out at times to complete smaller tasks that are best for smaller groups. Hopefully this makes since.

Also there is the possibility that my group will just be it's own thing again like it used to be, but it shouldn't really matter since we're all just working toward the same common goal. To create a better world.

Well this isn't really anything big, but I leave little notes in library books and other places, just little uplifting notes.

I saw this picture on Tumblr today and thought it was a good idea. It's a simple thing anyone could do; just leave some change at a vending machine or something like it with a note. We could always add "-The Dollars" at the end, or we could just leave it Anonymous. Regardless, I think it would be a nice thing to do that I'm sure would bring a smile to a lot of peoples' faces.

I gave these two homeless guys I saw on the street Twizzlers on the way from the Reds game. I got them from this one lady who was giving them out at the game, and when I saw the guys, I gave them some. I know it wasn't much, but I had no money on me, and hey I don't need more candy.

I often see people unhappy for their appearence (especially teenagers) and that's really sad. I am thinking about leaving around slips of paper with messages like "You are cute/beautiful/a wonderful person". And we could add a flower, too...

There was a man I had seen on TV about an hour ago, that had gone around the city wearing yellow and greeting anyone he met to brighten up everyone's day.
The reason? His wife had died, and fell into depression. Just as he was about to commit suicide, a man came up to him. The man talked and talked to him, and eventually he was inspired to talk to everyone and lift their mood.

I was thinking that we as the Dollars, could just randomly compliment someone, who could have possibly gone through a rough day. What do you guys think?

Another simple thing to do is to get into the habit of thanking people for the small things they do like holding a door.

This event is for a good friend of mine, and I promised to help her in any way I can. Normally, I'd dedicate a thread to this, but since I don't think it'll take more than a month to achieve the goal, I'll just leave it here.

Please, if you can spare a few bucks, donate to Erica. If necessary, I'll eventually get around to dedicating a thread. But if everyone who sees this can spare $2 to $5, she should have the goal within two weeks.

So here's a small little thing we could do: there's an app called Whisper (I believe it has an Android and an iOS version), which is basically an anonymous image sharing app. You can select an image, add a caption and share it anonymously. People with the app can see these images based on how recently it was submitted, and based on proximity of submission (like, within 25 miles, etc.)

So here's the idea: On the app, search "Dollars" or whatnot for the image, add the caption: "The world isn't as bad as you think." and click submit! Simple, anonymous, and free, if you have a smartphone or tablet.

Next week, Samaritan's Purse is collecting shoe box donations for Operation Christmas Child. What they do is have people fill a box with gifts for a child (you can choose which age and gender the gifts are intended for) and they send it to children around the world.

Great thread! I'm leaving those cheering Messages or the Coupons for a smile (if i remember it right it was the Share a smile Mission on this Site) in restrooms or on the seats @ trains or bus... Only 5 or 6 - i don't want to cause much litter

Try this one.
Go up to someone that no one talks to, and talk to them. Sit with them. If they're depressed, or maybe just down, tell the "Well, the world isn't as cruel as you take it to be." Smile, and let them know you care. I'm writing that on my hand today. Whatever feedback I get will be taken into consideration, but at this point, I don't care what other people think.

i also had an idea, you could cut out smiley faces and ask if people if you could put them in a jar and sit the jars on their counter/desk with a note that says : take one smile and give it to a stranger and tell them to smile . and on the back of the smiles you can put an encouraging message followed by a (~5rom the dollars ) . this can be done at a resturant, a store, a school, ETC (just an idea )

What if we did seasonal things? Like shoveling for others, raking leaves, mowing lawns, and things like that? Without pay; expecting nothing.

I put about 8 of these into a word doc, print it off and cut them out to put in people's lockers at school.

When I was at a con a nice girl in an Alice in wonderland queen of hearts was giving out these really nice compliment playing cards. So I was thinking...

Get out an old set of playing cards. Write out some compliments and sign "From the dollars", then go to school, city or just somewhere that people are around to give cards to and, well, give out some Dollars love ^_^

I honestly didn't want to type bump again, so I forced myself to come up with an idea. And guess what. I did. Turn the lights off when you leave the room, you save so much elecrticity doing that.

I haven't posted o this site in awhile. I'm glad I've finally found thr time to do so.
I agree with Zake that that event would be a great way to meet some of our fellow memmbers. However, I think it would be better if we used his idea to orginize days or certain times to do some of these listed ideas. An exaple of this would leaveing notes (#104) on Mondays, or so forth. I don't mean to abandon the fact that we should try to do a ll these deeds everyday, like we sould as Dollar memmbers. I just felt something like this could be a good way of showing how big a difference we can make together.

I'm sure people habe done things like this in the past and I'm sorry if I seem like I am recycleing ideas. I don't post much on this site, like I said before. I am still just learning the ropes of this site. ^^

I've posted a mission where you can print off pages saying "smile" and they have the Dollars symbol in the corner. I think if we all do this and we do it on a certain day at a certain time like >>183 suggested, it'd be a marvellous event.

I have this idea of taking any item such as a story book, a pen, a pencil or anything then place it around the area of your school. Then write something in like: "Take it. It's a gift from me." then write '-The Dollars'. You can be anonymous, though.

There's something we do at my school where we put up blank pieces of paper on a bulletin board for people to draw on. Sometimes people produce amazing works of art (we are an art college, after all) and sometimes people draw things to make others feel better. Perhaps this could be a mission?
Like propose something like this for your college or dorm or study hall. It's a good stress reliever and can really do some good for the students lounging around.

My sister and I went around our neighborhood writing "The world isn't as bad as you think" in chalk on the sidewalk and a bunch of smileys and hearts. It was fun to see people stop to read it, and it's really easy to do. :)

Ok, so it's one thing to come up with something nice to do every once in a while, but what if we dedicated ourselves to do at least one Dollars worthy mission every day? It doesn't have to be anything outrageous, it could just be leaving our 'motto' on a notecard in somebody's book or something (kudos to whoever originally came up with this), a simple task to achieve on a regular basis. Consistency is key. :D

It pisses me off how our society has these unachievable expectations of beauty. So many people in the world are beautiful and they don't even realize it. From now on, I'm going to make an effort to compliment people on what they're wearing or their hair or something if they're not Hollywood attractive.

Find someone who just looks unhappy and give them something small that would make them happy, (a treat, a toy depending on age, a flower) and leave a little tag on it saying "The World Isn't as Bad as You Think" It'll give them at least a little spark of happiness and it might even make their day.

1. get a sticky note or a small piece of paper
2. write your little note on it (for me I write, Smile the world isn't as bad as you think)
3. sign it with the name Dollars
4. stick a dollar to the back of the note
5. place the note somewhere with the dollar on the back facing down and the note facing up.

(Idea from Coska and others) I've seen it before and it's nice.

I have an idea for a small mission:

If you ever see someone sitting alone or crying or overall just looking depressed somewhere(I'm thinking of schools mostly as I'm in highschool) then give them something they'll remember. My idea is a sorrt of card. On one side is an inspirational/uplifting quote or poem then on the other side you could write the Dollars motto "Smile. The world isn't as bad as you think, why not give someone else a smile and share the good feeling?" with "~Dollars" written underneath.

If you wanted to go that step further you could write something on the back aswell like "if you ever feel alone then look up the dollars and remember BACCANO" or you could decorate the card with uplifting pictures or calming scenery pictures or something...

I understand that this may just be mixing a few other small missions together but it's really the only mission that comes to my mind. Just going up to someone sad or alone and saying "hi" then giving them something uplifting... I feel like there's no better small mission than that since you can do it from now till the moment you die and smile knowing that you helped others do the same

I've got a small mission
This started out as an idea for my classmates, but I wanted everyone to be able to hear it too. These are wax-sealed notes, and they contain little pick-me-ups, like a compliment, cheesy joke, or just a brighter outlook for the day to come. They are super easy to make, and are cute.
First, you get any basic note pad you have lying around the house, maybe one you don't have a use for. Take a note, and fold it into a third, leaving the other two thirds alone for the next part. Next, take a pair of scissors and make two cuts at the top third, making it into a peak, like a normal envelope. Then, you write a little note inside the paper piece, and fold the paper up, so it's one third altogether. [I don't actually own any sealing wax, so hear me out for the next part.] Take a crayon of any color, and melt it down using a lighter, holding it above the piece of note, where the seal would normally go. Spread the wax as needed to close it, and wait for it to cool. Voila! A cute little wax-sealed note for a friend, or a stranger if you want.

I have heard a lot of people moaning about porn/naked selfies on Facebook which of course is not good for younger people using the site, I suggest we find these people and complement them on pictures which aren't inappropriate. This should raise their self esteem and hopefully steer them away from posting more inappropriate pictures.

A picture is inappropriate when showing boobs and or vagina for females and dick pics for males. I'm saying this because I know alt models who wear lingerie sometimes covering very little but they have their own pages so they I would say are exempt from this.

I'm not sure if this goes on this thread or not but as far as the leaving encouraging notes missions... Wouldn't it be better if we organized one day where we all leave notes in public/school/wherever. Sort of like how "to write love on her arms" does? And we sign it with dollars to recruit? Sorry if this already been suggested

How about we use our phones and message a random number with either our motto or an inspirational message. It's up to you if you want to put "-The Dollars" or not. You can do it anytime and anywhere, and it's an easier method for those who don't/can't go outdoors much to spread cards or sticky notes.

On occasion, when I'm at a drive thru at a fast food restaurant or a drive in of any sort, I pay for the people behind me. It's just a kind gesture, y'know? It can really brighten up somebody's day. ^_^

I have recently been anonymously printing out things that say 'smile, the world isn't as bad as you think ~ The dollars' to printers all around my school, not sure if anyone has picked up on it yet or not though.

I was reading a story based off of this on Wattpad the other day. I propose that we take little sticky notes, and write something good about a certain person. Preferably not something about their looks, but something telling them about their doubtless honesty, amazing goodwill, joyfully uplifting spirits, etc. We could stick it on a persons locker, and just sign it the Dollars, or Anonymous. Maybe we could do one per day or something like that.

I really like Beth's idea. It's super cute! There aren't lockers where I attend high school, but a note in the desk or in a book should work just as well. Looking forward to doing this. ^_^

This isn't anything particularly big or heroic, but something that I like to do is go on the "suicidal" tag on tumblr, and go to all of the blogs that post something with that hashtag, and leave an anonymous positive message on their blog. It's just something simple, like "I just wanted to remind you that you're a beautiful person": that sort of thing.

It's not much, but it might make the person who runs that blog smile, and I guess that's all worth it to me. Plus it doesn't take a lot of time to do it!

Just an idea, I was thinking maybe some other Dollars members could do it too, and not just on tumblr!

Let me explain. So I'm a "guide" in an online game. Y'know the one who helps newbies to the game and does quest help. Until this day, there was this girl who came and asked me to watch this youtube video. She said that she needs views and likes because she's gonna join a singing contest and it is perhaps a way to join. She said that she tried to ask other players but they just told her to **** off.
She's good IMO and I think she deserves a chance. I don't really know how could I help so I decided to put it here. I just don't want to be like those "others"... I just want to help someone reach her dreams. :)

I don't know if this is really something that belongs in this thread because it's kind-of a small idea, but I'll put it here anyways.

Recommend a good song (a "feel good song"?) to some one you know. It seems small, but listening to that one song could be highlight of that person's day for weeks! And if they don't like the song, then no harm done.

i got the idea to start a fund raiser in the name of the dollars not sure if the church i go to will except the idea that a group of kids wanna do something good for the community

this is something I did tonight and I felt proud of doing it! I go to Hillsong Church, im apart of the Youth Ministry. So, while we are praising and jumping around, if I see someone who is new, or just not jumping and just standing there, I link arms with them or hold their hand and jump around with them! :D

so, maybe if your in that situation? when your having fun in a community but u see someone that doesn't look like they are having too much you could just pick up a quick conversation and make friends to help brighten their day. ive done it, and I felt really happy doing it ;D

Hey guys :) So I went camping a while ago and got inspired to do this idea; write "Smile, the world isn't as bad as it seems. -The Dollars" on..... LEAVES. Hahaha, it sounds weird but literally EVERYONE can do it. Take a sharpie, write our message, and just leave it in some populated place! Leaves go everywhere so there is a very high chance many people will see it, and the more leaves the better. I even got a whole bunch and left them near one of the bathrooms. The next morning, people were actually looking at them ^^ Welp, that's it I guess.

Here's an idea that my friend kinda formed in my mind during in a lesson at school. Why not have a poster type thing and on it you put 'The world isn't as bad as you think. Smile!' and underneath, draw a bunch of smiley faces that people can tear of and keep, and have a little note about them saying 'take a smile' then put this up in a school or on a work notice board or something. If you want, also put the dollars logo on.

Well anyways, I read a small idea and it was to put a dollar and a small note in a library book for the next person. The small note can say something about the dollar and our motto.

One thing you can do is tell your friends that you appreciate them, even if it's implied it feels good to hear it. Hearing it from one of my good friends helped me with a lot of stress and depression.

Hi! I think this idea of mine will fit here. Well you see, in our Health class,we had a sharing activity about smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol.

We discussed about Republic Act of 9211. This states that minor are not allowed to sell or buy cigarettes. Also, smoking is not allowed in public places like schools (100 m away), clinics, enclosed areas or other places where minors are.

Our teacher proposed a project for us. We would post signs like no smoking at all around the school campus. We will also tell smokers that we will see, like drivers, to stop smoking because it definitely has a big and negative effect to those smokers and those around them.

By this way, we could encourage people to stop smoking which could really save their lives and deminish the chances of having diseases and death. Stop smoking, save lives :)

I know this is probably up on the thread but I have seen this lately a lot of people are not doing well so I started just complementing people. I started in my school and some people started to change so I am going to start with people i don't know!!

Part of the reason for bad behavior or why teens turn to drugs can be caused by low self esteem so by complimenting people (teens mostly) you can improve their behavior because they finally see the good things about themselves

Valentines is right around the corner and I just realized how lonely it feels to be left out. Then I saw some kids just handing out little card with hearts on them and it just made my day better, because I was no longer alone.
I think it might be a good idea for us to hand out small little cards in class on times were some might not get any. Granted many schools already do that with valentines, however there might be more days year round that schools don't.

I have been listening more intently for different problems around school, and the teachers have some problems too. My principal has many things she wants to fix in the school like allowing more parking spaces, better books, bigger playground ect, but can't get around to them because of things like vandalism.
I don't think that we will be able to stop all vandalism and all problems but their are many things we can, because Teachers, Librarians, and Principals all have problems that can effect the school.

Goal; go talk to teachers to find out the problems in the school and how to fix them.

How about complimenting people? Many people have difficult lives and the good words of a stranger can completely turn their bad day around. The goal is to just compliment people you see on the streets or around your school/work place.

I think that complementing peoples online work would be nice as well. We talk about complementing people we don't know but that seems a bit weird. However we comment all sorts of stuff online. So we just need to make shore to be more positive in our comments.
