I wrote this over and over with different variations onto a brand new stack of 500 couint sticky notes, planning to stick them all over highschool in a few days. But I'm worried about immature people dacing and writing crude things on the sticky notes. Then it would turn into a joke instead of a messag.... Also I;m going to have to be very sneaky about this seeing as how Gang related activity is not tolerated in our school... I'll find a way though, I know a few people who could really use at least these words :]

I recall someone at my college doing something like this for a class project and the teacher was the one who gave her the idea. So I don't see why I can't do it. Besides it's college if I can get people to write random things on a stick because I tell them to then putting up sticky notes will be a piece of cake.

Just as a reminder:

• Your notes don't necessarily have to be on sticky notes, either. They could be on full size paper if you so desired.

So me and some other dollars members did this at our school and our secretary went around and took them all down and threw them away :(. No one know that it was us that did it but i hope we dont get in trouble for it.

I did this today in school I put one on the girls bathroom stall theres some really depressing stuff on that wall anyways I put one there and I felt so proud to be apart of the dollars :D

I personally love this idea - in fact, I've been doing it around my school for a while. I have 3 other Dollars members in my class, and we hide 10 on walls, lockers, hallways, white boards, desks, staircases, even ceilings and basements whenever we get the chance each week. We're going to keep doing it, too, until someone finds out it's us without knowing what the Dollars actually are and... Well, you get the idea.

Definitely doing this when I get some sticky notes. But I wonder how many other people are Dollars at my school...

We have two dollars counting myself that is starting this mission tomorrow. I think it will be great.

I sat down and hand wrote about 200 of these bad boys and plan to spread them out at highschool and at the College throughout the next month. Not all of them are the same, they range from the original quote to " Things will get better!!" or " you are not alone! We care!" and a lot others. All signed "The Dollars" and with the basic URL to the website "dollars-bbs.org". I figured that if they really wanted to know the password, they could look it up ;D

i suggest using sticky notes if you want to be unoticed in a crowded area so you can just brush past a wall or what ever and it sticks. but in the long term they fall off soon and it's annoying to have a bunch of sticky notes in your pocket and they curl eaily

The only problem I see is that I live in the city, and it's people are pretty damn rude. I'm sure the post-it notes will just end up being thrown away or join the rest of the pollution on the floor.

My three fellow Dollar friends and I posted these everywhere in school. We even put one on the principles window!
The only problem was a lot of them wouldn't stick correctly, and we couldn't go back and fix them in case someone saw us.
So after hours we went back to the school and helped the janitor clean all of them up. :)

It(Dollars) is such a hard concept to accept because we are so used to flaunting status and group affiliations. I guess one way to look at it is like 'net-family'? With those who are already in Dollars use the power of our numbers, and autonomously, or better word for it, transparently help out the community, and each other.
And when asked, we would tell people... but we won't go flaunting it around like graffiti lol

It's not like they will know who the person is, it's just a way to show people that there is a group of people that cares. The only groups people know about around my area are the bad groups, because those are the only groups that are publicly known.

Made a quick small one to stick on the cork-board of my college's cafe, where students post ads, etc. Hopefully it will brighten someone's day.

I know some people don't like tagging The Dollars on these, but I think they add a sense of mystery to it. Who are the Dollars, and why do they care? I think it just makes it feel all the more personal, and in turn--all the more human.

Just started doing that yesterday! I'm also thinking of asking the administration of our school to let me post a banner in the courtyard with the message. It's a great idea to spread optomism throughout the school.

I've been doing this for a few days now, and I must say that it's really cool to post a note...

And then walk by the same spot later, only to find it missing.

Makes me think; "Hey, someone got my message." That's a cool feeling, not knowing who got it, but knowing that it (probably) cheered them up a bit ^_^

I saw a girl in the park yesterday crying her eyes out. She was next to the parks directory and bulletin board, I was going there to post up one of the Dollars notes. (If my friend ever gets around to sending me the picture from his cellphone, I will upload it.) I am no good at talking to people, I'm just really quiet and awkward so I didn't know whether to approach her or not. I couldn't walk away though, after I tacked the note to the board I tapped her on the shoulder and handed her one of the sticky notes I still had on me, I was my last "Smile. The world isn't as bad as you think.". I watched her read it and smile but I didn't want to stick around so I ran back to my friend and we left. We went back 10 or 15 minutes later and she was still there but she wasn't crying anymore. I sent my friend over to take the picture on his own. When he came back he said she smiled at him and still had the sticky note in her hands.

I just wanted to share that because it really warmed my heart to know that such a simple message from the Dollars made someone so happy. I didn't think I could actually make an impact like that. I hope we all can help people like her with a positive message from the Dollars. :)

After the New York Regents I put them up on every locker in school when everyone was gone. When my friend caught me I explained to him and now he wants to join.

Hey, to all of you potential sticky noters: the phrase should be changed to "The world isn't as bad as it seems" because some people don't like the assumption that they (all of them) think the world is a bad place. Otherwise, I'm tempted to set up a new Mass Post day in which every willing Dollar would post one or more notes... What do you all say? Want to have another day like that?

I think this is awesome. Are we doing it on a certain day? (because I think mass post notes all over the world in one day could be controversial) I hate to ask instead of read through but my phone (only internet access) won't allow me to view the whole thread.

This sounds great! i agree with Rin that we should have a specific day.

I think we should make it in a month from today. The weather should be clear, and if we make enough of an uproar about it in the following days people will be bound to remember, and actually take action. Also, I know a few of us are part of seperate groups (like I am a part of 2 dollars facebook groups that came together through bbs and started them to know each other more properly and am close to most of them) and we can keep them aware of the post-it plan.

i think that this is an awesome idea and yeag i agree with Rin and Unknown we should all totally do it on the same day it should catch a few eyes it would be soo cool and Rin i too am also a part of the Facebook group The Dollars ><

Me and my friends did this! My friend didn't want to put them the janitors would have to pick them up, since her mom is one, so we put them inside popular books in the library. ^_^ I put mine in Misery by Stephan King.

Holy Shit! I'm so game! I'll get creative and walk around taking picture of places I put them and creative things I've done with them and post pics for inspiration. Good idea? Crap. I need to learn to draw, do origami, write neatly, and other things for what I'm thinking first... ugh.

i did this today at my school. i bought a 8 pack of the SUPER sticky post-its and pre-wrote on them the night before. i put one on every other locker. every door and one per wall in every classroom. (i was early for school cuz of ACT prep classes and had a lot of time on my hands). i'm pretty sure i got caught by a few cameras but no one said anything. XD

there's a kid in my neighborhood that is perhaps the most lowlife scum in this section of Phoenix. No names, but all i can say is that he a short mexican whose most liekly in a gang, has his teeth practically rotting out of his skull, pants on the ground, beat the shit out of you if you look at him funny prick, who not only lives four houses down from me, but i am damn sure he is the cause of at least 3 sticky notes destroyed around my neighborhood. Its people like him why we exist, to stop this unnecessary behavior. the SKM gang logo was once splattered across this once nice neighborhood before it was painted over. lets keep it peaceful shall we? i will be replacing those sticky notes.

i really love this idea! people need to see things like this once in a while. it would make my day, no, it would make my whole week to see this on a bad day.

I wouldn't mind seeing something like this. Don't get me wrong, life can get pretty crappy, but sometimes I wish people would just take time to step back from there own problems and see the good in things. It's there, you just have to look up every once in a while.

This is a great idea! My best friend and I are going to do this when we go back to school. The last time I did something like this though, it got taken down. ;( I hope that this time it will have more of an impact with people. Wish us luck!~
