Hi,i wrote some poems recently and wanted to know what people thought about them. any feedback would be nc :)

Damn nice stuff. Its a personal opinion but the first one seems a bit too literal. I like the references but you could leverage on that more to create something more like a mash up of quotes to say what you want. The current piece is honest in its feelings but lacks a bit of punch. It feels more like your trying to tell a story than write a poem. I also faced similar problems when i started out, but its really up to you to find a style that appeals to you. I wish you the best in writing man!

Well just write a lot and on things that hold meaning to you. Don't force yourself on something you feel you can't connect with. Your poems also will show you more and more of yourself as you go along so if you keep writing you will understand your own styles and your heart better.

Reading other peoples stuff is a good way to draw inspiration for styles and don't be ashamed to try out someone else's style.

Doing critical analysis and readings of poems helps but it really gets dry(i take lit so i know the pain). Reading analysis of others poems and analysing your own poems is a faster way of understanding how different styles and techniques though.

Also don't forget to retry and redraft your older poems. Taking a good nights rest to mull over an idea sometimes will take you somewhere you really don't expect!

Sucks ass tbh

I don't know much about writing poems, but i like yours a lot. I've been asking myself some of the same questions recently and the retrospection without finding the cause lands home. I often draw, so the only advice i can think off is carrying something to write down ideas in, since they tend to come in the wierdest of times.
