I'm making this and I don't care what anyone thinks. Sage it if you want. I find this important. Lately, this board has been kind of sucky, specifically the chain games on here, but that doesn't exclude any other threads from this board either (which have gone through their time of sucking as well). Ok, so I thought I'd make a set of rules for this board, because it's getting out of hand and it would be much more organized here.

If you've read this far, you're probably thinking, "Rules? Why the hell would you need rules for a literature board? Aren't there no rules?" Well, no, not exactly. Of course, this board is meant to be creative, but there are still rules. Their are always rules. Take the poem type called a ballad for example. You're free to do whatever you want with the song as long as there is repetition of a certain stanza at least twice in your poem. That is a rule. Of course you have to follow it, without it, it would no longer be a ballad. So we need rules. Whether you decide to follow these rules or not, is up to you.

Rules:
1. In threads made specifically for games or certain things (i.e. A Story on Six Words, Haiku Chain), you must ALWAYS abide to the rules. Do not blindly post on a board without reading what the rules are for that board. This is bad. It will break the flow of the thread if this happens. I understand if you post on accident when you meant to post on a different thread, it's fine; it happens.
2. Once you've read the rules, if you are still confused leave a reply on the thread asking the question rather than just posting. BUT if you are sure you are right, but unsure about a certain word, feel free to ask. Most people on literature board will look it up for you. Of course, DON'T always get used to relying on someone else. Let's give you an example, on haiku chain the standard format is 5-7-5, if you know you pronounce a word differently than others OR if you are unsure how many syllables are in a word (i.e. everybody, some people pronounce it e-ver-y-bo-dy and some pronounce it e-vry-bo-dy). When something like that happens, always ask or leave a little message at the bottom of your post telling someone else to verify that it is the right amount of syllables.
3. Read the posts prior to yours. ALWAYS click on entire thread. You never know when somebody messed up. If someone messes up, you MUST continue from the last person who made a mistake. This ensures people are keeping a steady flow and it will make people more aware of mistakes they are making. PLEASE, this is very important.
4. Be creative. Do not steal someone else's work. If you're going to state that. I've never really seen any problem with this, but just thought it was important.
5. Don't be afraid to question others. If someone posts something that you are pretty sure is incorrect, do not be afraid to question them.
6. If something seems like it can be pronounced differently for things like haiku chain, then just let it be, but if you have tried pronouncing it differently than let it be known. Do not stay quiet, because this ensures rule 3 isn't being broken.
7.Anything and I mean ANYTHING is a word. Something you made up and posted on say, A Story on Six Words, that's a word. Doesn't matter if it's not real, if it's a noise, if it's a bad word or any other thing you might find to be an exception. It's all considered words. To make it easier, anything you have to put a space in between of, it's a word. Even time frames like "11:00" can be words. It's the space in between the words that matters.
8. With that being said, anything can be a sentence as well. Doesn't matter how weird it is. It can be a sentence. It can be as obscure as you want it, because that's what writing is about. :D But keep in mind, for the Word Chain Game board, that it's only one sentence, but as I said in the first few rules, always read the rules of a board. Ok. So you won't make the mistake of posting multiple sentences. Please.
9. Don't bump up useless threads unless they provide any significance to you, the bumper.
10. Ctrl+f is your best friend. Use it to find threads before creating duplicates on your favorite book or game.
11. I guess the last rule has to be have fun! This is the most important of all the rules. Just have fun. =)

So, if you have suggestions for extra rules please reply. That would be great. And if you read this far. Thanks so much.

>>3>>4 Only newbies believe that. This is a BBS system: There are rules and it's outlined on Main, on the About page of the site, and by the owner of the site himself. So if you don't like it, piss off. Also, if you idiots hadn't noticed, bumping this up to the top only supports the thread.

>>1 Lovely, when I made the guidelines in the News Board I asked in suggestions and linked to the thread and asked for input.

Personally, I don't think this board needs one; it just needs a better board description at the top, but this board wasn't (and kind of never has been) as out of control as the News Board was. Hell, this board is one of the relatively clean ones compared to the Food, Animation, Missions, or Sports boards, and ESPECIALLY the Countries board.

But if you're going to make one, you really need to make it a whole lot more brief than this, with some bullet points. Not even folks who follow the rules- not even I- are gonna read something this long and without paragraph breaks.

>>6 Sorry, I didn't know you were supposed to do that O_O. tbh, I never go on that part of the website really.

I figured no one would actually CARE about this...so idk. It'll get bumped down if no one even cares to read it. =/
