Pretty self-explanatory, but is there any book that you've read in school that you've hated/loved? Why?
For me; I loved 'The Catcher in the Rye' because it's probably the easiest school assigned book I've read and I related to it on so many levels. On the other side of the spectrum, I really disliked Ernest Hemingway's 'A Farewell to Arms', I don't really know why I just hated reading it. Oh, and 'A Streetcar Named Desire' is a close favorite, after 'The Catcher in the Rye'.

"Of Mice And Men" was great. You really got a feel for what these guys were going through and well it's pretty sad.
"Lord of the Flies" sucked so bad. It had great word usage, but that's about it. The story's concept is great, but the book was just so underdeveloped that you can't appreciate it.
"To Kill a Mockingbird" sucked. Like, I can't say anything good about that book except maybe that I really liked what Atticus' character represented.
Currently reading "The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet" which I love, but I think I'm being biased because I love Shakespeare.

My eighth grade class was made to read "Brave New World" and "Fahrenheit 451" aloud in class. I really, really hated everything about both of them. Ugh. I remember all the parents freaking out, arguing that the books weren't appropriate for middle school students, but the teacher dragged the argument out and we ended up having to read it anyway.

On the other hand, I don't like Shakespeare but I ended up liking "Hamelet" which we read in class. Personally I think that was actually interesting, mostly because the main character felt more relatable I guess. One of my all-time favorite books that we read was "Broken April". It was an Albanian book that focused on the blood feuds, and it was interesting and well written, albeit a little tragic.

>>2 "Of Mice and Men" was something everyone enjoyed, even mainstream - which is unheard of in my sub-par high school. I chuckled a little when you mentioned "Lord of The Flies" and "To Kill a Mockingbird", everyone loved those books, honestly they aren't my favorites, I just liked Piggy and Atticus.

>>3 Hamlet is my favorite Shakespearian play! Glad you liked it! I'll have to look for "Broken April", it sounds interesting.

Didn't like reading Fahrenheit 451. Just couldn't get into it.
I did love 1984, though. And The Great Gatsby.

I loved Pride and Prejudice (I seem to be the only one out of people I knew though :T). The Outsiders was interesting too.

Hm, I didn't really like 1984, The Land, nor Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, much though...

Our year level was the test guinea pig for a lot of the curriculum as we went through high school, so we unfortunately drew the short end of the stick more than a few times. That being said, we all unanimously agreed that Ramose: Prince in Exile was the most brain-deadening, infuriating, and down-right insulting piece of work we've ever had thrown at us, and that's coming from what was then a group of twelvies who were still squeeing over Twilight.
