How to write a horror story...? (3)

So like, I can write short horror story, as in those one-shot stories, but I can't write horror stories in chapters, especially when it's dealing with paranormal beings and not just a brutal cannibal or serial killer. When I try to think of one where it can last long for chapters, not much ideas came out.

I read plenty of horror stories before, but it's those typical cliche monsters-scaring people that's for children to read, or simply people getting killed and others getting scared, trying to find the murderer.
There is only a few I have read that matches my liking, it involves crime-solving as well as paranormal-mixed. (A woman dying in every 20 days. Rumor of blablabla, people tried to solve crime, but it is more complicated than just human getting eaten, blablabla, you know. >_>) Also played games like Corpse Party (read the manga and the anime) but that's not a novel, lol, which has a pretty good chaptered horror story going on.

Anyway, I'm just thinking about what kinds of advice you people can give on writing a long horror story in chapters, and just not one-shots. Yep. Thank you very much. :)

Well writing a horror story is just like making a horror game. If you look at the game Mad Father or Witch's House, they have complex story lines which is needed alot in stories. I think that may be the problem that you are experiencing. Lot's of people, like myself, have problems making the background to the story which left me with making one-shots. I hope I kinda helped at least.
