Hey DOllars! I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this thread (i think it should be hahaha), but i need to get new book titles that i should read since i'm running out of ideas, so i was hoping if you could post onto this thread what your favorite book is and the author of the book, then i could write it on a paper, crumpled it and place it in a jar. Each month or when i have enough money i could pull out one paper and purchased the book that was written on it. So i hope you guys can help me out here! It'll be a great way to be keep on reading, and you guys can try it out too!
Thanks!

It's not exactly my favourite but a good book I've read is The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King. It's one of his books which isn't focused on horror as much.

it depends of what kind of stories you like
but if you're okay with a detective story.. read "and there was none" by Agatha Christie and try to figure out who the killer is :D

I really enjoy all the Alessandro Baricco's novels ! To my mind, this writer is amazing.
You should try !

Well, depending on what type of genres you read, it varies.
I enjoy Young Adult novels so I suppose anything by John Green (The Fault In Our Stars, Paper Towns, etc.)
If you've never read the Divergent trilogy please do so
Also, for a grim & Grimm book, I recommend A Tale Dark And Grimm; it's a "grim" retelling of the classic fairytale stories
Enjoy! :)

Pretty much anything by Yu Wo is Worth Reading ^u^

And also, the redemtion of Althalus by Eddings is a good book ^^

7 Name: :) : 2014-04-02 22:34 ID:wlSn13f2 [Del]

Yu Wo is good :DDD
Divergent series by Veronica Roth are awesome :3 Along with The Hunger Games, The Fault In Our Stars, etc.
The Graceling by Kristin Cashore, along with the following series Fire and Bitterblue are good too. Though with each of her books, the main characters are different, the general background settings are the same and, for example, Bitterblue is just a side character in the Graceling, but she is the main character in the book "Bitterblue." And yeah. o3o...Does that counts as spoilers, whatever.

A Song of Ice and Fire (George RR Martin), The Godfather (Mario Puzo), The Kite Runner (Khaled Hosseini), The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Steig Larson), Suzanne's Diary For Nicholas (James Patterson), Naked in Death (J.D. Robb), You Belong to Me (Mary Higgins Clark), Angela's Ashes (Frank McCourt)

10 Name: Gaap : 2014-04-06 07:20 ID:IO1DRk7B [Del]

I highly recomend George R.R. Martin's A song of ice and fire,it's just great! Than there is also the Hunger Games, the invernal devices series by cassandra clare, Cloud Atlas (David Mitchell) and Metro 2033 (Dmitri Glukhovski)...depents on which genre you like... If you like manga, there's the umineko series...

11 Name: yuki-chan : 2014-04-07 01:22 ID:OnwWu/e/ [Del]

hmm this really depends on what type of books you like to read

but i can suggest the f.f: The Mortal Instruments series (it is really good, if you happen to like adventure action romance), almost any of John Green books, if you like young adult fiction that can make you cry (suggested books: fault in our stars, looking for alaska, paper towns, will grayson will grayson)

12 Name: Grimly !0clQOa6qhY : 2014-04-07 12:58 ID:xn/gEimr [Del]

I'm going to second everyone who's suggested A Song of Ice and Fire because it is really good. You should probably specify what genre you prefer so we're not shooting blindly here but if you haven't already you should also read Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit because those are fantasy classics.
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo - Steig Larson (crime, mystery, thriller)
The Silence of the Lambs - Thomas Harris (crime, mystery, psychological, thriller)
American Gods - Neil Gaiman (horror, fantasy, science fiction)
The Glass Castle - Jeannette Walls (autobiographical novel)
The Bell Jar - Sylvia Plath (autobiographical novel)
Fight Club - Chuck Palahniuck (satire)
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams (comedy, satire, science fiction)
Dune - Frank Herbert (adventure, sci-fi, political thriller, psychological thriller, basically the LoTR of of the science fiction genre)
Good Omens - Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett (fantasy, comedy)
Angels and Demons - Dan Brown (mystery, thriller)
The Book Thief - Markus Zusak (historical fiction)
The Vampire Chronicles - Anne Rice (gothic, horror)
Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte (gothic fiction)

On The Road by Jack Kerouac
This book is amazing and imo it's definitely worth looking into

14 Name: tsubaki !yQ3luh1QiU : 2014-04-08 16:53 ID:f2Fd77gn [Del]

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned The Maze Runner by James Dashner. It's great for anyone who liked The Hunger Games or Divergent... I've only read the first, but I plan to buy the next two ASAP. Plus, the movie's coming out soon.

As many others have said, it really depends on what you like, but one series that I keep returning to is Lament and Ballad by Maggie Stiefvater. That's more along the lines of Twilight, as in supernatural romance, only much much better, especially because the girls have backbone. Ballad is better, but Lament comes first, so I recommend both.

I've gotta repeat the guy who said Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, and also say that there's four books that come after it that are almost as awesome. People say it's sci-fi, and it does take place in space with futuristic technology, but honestly it's not about that. It's about the jokes :D Just don't watch the movie

I'm also going to second those who recommended City of Bones and the other books in the series. In my opinion, the main character isn't very good, and the story isn't spectacular; what really makes the series is the voice. The author, Cassandra Clare, seems to understand exactly the way a teenager thinks. No other book, even by a younger author, has had a voice that resonated with me so strongly. Again, don't watch the movie.

For a short read, Flatland, by Edwin A. Abbott is great. On first reading, it's a fantasy of math and geometry that invites the reader to question the world as he knows it, but if you read deeper, you'll see that it's also a forward-thinking (for 1884) satire of Victorian society.

Another fun novella is Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion. It's a great take on the paranormal romance and zombie genres, being told from the point of view of a zombie himself. This one's such a fun read, and somewhat meaningful in a tongue-in-cheek way. There's a pretty recent movie for this one as well, which was a great adaptation.

More to come later maybe :D

Do you know No.6? Yes, that anime was made based on my favorite novel. So, I suggest you to read No. 6 by Asano Atsuko. Yes, it is a japanese novel, but you can read the english translation on (9th-ave.blogspot.com/p/no-6.html). It's a really sweet and cool story about two teenager who are from the inside and the outside of a utopia city, try to break the wall that separate the insider and the outsider. It taught many things to me, especially about life and humanity. But, it is not a serious and heavy novel. It consists of many sweet and heart-breaking events that make me cried on every volume.

I am currently reading Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. It is slow in the beginning, and I got a little annoyed with the author. The middle and ending is really good, though. I have a hard time putting it down.
