Do you have an idea as to what it's about yet? If so what is it? It would to get an idea as to what to suggest.

I do. But I don't think this is good.

Summary: It's the year 2057, the world is over ruled by Nero technology. Nero, a company that creates CRPG games since 2040.

Nero CRPG, a advance CRPG game that was created by the Nero Company. Has been released in Japan. Nero Hard-drive, a reality hard drive that was created by Nero company so players can play "Nero" based games. It allows players to stimulate there five senses plus there brain. Allowing players to become the character themselves.

On July 27, 2057, 100,000 people where logged into the game. A Gamemaster named Keisuke Takao gets the online CRPG game called Nero. Once he learned that he couldn't log off. The players are then informed by the game instructor that, in order to get your normal life back you must beat 80 Towers . If you were to die in the game. You will be stuck inside the game forever. Your would just be replaced and forgotten.

Keisuke then plays the game and gets to the first level. That's when he then in counters a girl named Yuki Ayumi, who says she has already played the game before, but loss. Once they beat Towerl 1 he then ask her if she wants to help him beat Nero, save the other players lives and find out how is he able to do this. But little do they know that the game between Keisuke & Yuki has already just begun.

First Tower*

So, you're remaking SAO and pretending that it's your own story? How very sweet of you. I'm sure the creators of Sword Art Online would be completely and utterly flattered.

I mean, maybe I misread something, but it's pretty much the same exact story with similar characters (minus the character depth of SAO which is thusfar lacking here) and eighty towers instead of one tower with 100 floors.

>>6 Yeah, but I was going to have the two main charters fight Nero in the end. But, that's why I came here for help.

>>7 I suggest changing the whole pretext of your story. If you don't, people are just going to assume that you're blatantly trying to rip off the SAO franchise. I suppose you can jump on the bandwagon (been a ton of new RPG mangas starting up since it got popular, similar to what happened after .hack got popular), but you need new characters and a new plot.

Take out the tower detail. The tower is an idea so specific to SAO that you can't keep it without losing all respect for your idea. I suggest having more than just a male and female lead character, or keep just one of them. You can have romance without making the romantically involved one having a major role from the start.

I suggest working out the specifics of the game world. Will it be melee fighting? Ranged? Magic? All styles? What happens to the players after they realize they can't log out? (Please... Don't go with the idea that their avatars transform into their real appearances; it's another idea specific to that franchise, and it will be too obviously a rip off if you use it.)

Work out details of how leveling works and how it affects the players who are stuck in there.

Finally, I suggest making it so the idea wasn't limited to the game master. Maybe, instead of how SAO was set up where the game master was the only guilty party with the original game, in your version it could be a huge conspiracy amongst several companies? I think that could be particularly interesting if you did it right.

>>8 Your right, I do need to change the whole story so it wouldn't sound like SAO. But it's kinda hard to find out what happens to the players when they find out they can't log off. (Without it resembling SAO)

When you say "conspiracy" do you mean have the main character involved with several different plots in the story?

Also thanks for your help. You opinion helped me a lot. ^_^

Does it need to have rpg elements, is the first thing I would ask.

If not, then it's a lot easier not limiting yourself to the world of an rpg.

Assuming you are dead-set on an rpg or something akin to an rpg as the setting, take a look at the manga Yureka, which I think is an entertaining read.

That manga is a little different in that it opens up not having characters "stuck" in the game world, although that does occur in one plot line...

Finally, as Barabi said, flesh out the mechanics of the game world you're creating.

What classes are there? are there classes? is it like skyrim? What are stats, if there are stats? etc, etc, etc

11 Name: Keisuke : 2013-01-24 16:27 ID:7O+GmSZ1 [Del]

>>10 There are 4 classes actually. Knight, Mage, Theft, Assassin. Each classes obviously has different ability's, plus they can either fight other players and even the enemy's in the game. Which can be monsters or AI based classes. (Such as an enemy knight or Mage.)

As for the attacks, the game has a veriety of them. (Such as you can only do a vertical slash or you can do a combination of attacks) Once unlocked that is. As for the leveling system, I still don't know how that would work because the highest level you can get to is 300.

As for mages you can summon gods, demons, monsters etc. you can also use magic, such as fire, water, earth, ice etc. unlike final fantasy I don't do the gra or ga at the end of them. Instead if it level 2 fire it would be called Fire 2.

As for theft's, they can capture monsters for AI based classes and use them agains other people. They can also steal ideas from other players and from merchants in the game as well.

Assassins have a better advantage in the game, since there basically like ninja's. they can kill an enemy without them even knowing it. They can also blend into nature and become steath.

Knights can use dual swords up to 4. They can put two on there back and two at there left or right waist or all 4 on there back, it all depends on where the player equips it. They can use combination skill which are a variety of slashes or they can use a blast slash. Where they can cut diagonally to make a crescent moon like slash. It's blast ratios is 45-57 yards. (depending on the level) it can be a combo blast or it can just be one diagonal blast. (All depends on the players level. They can also just do a normal vertical, diagonal, horizontal slash.

There are legendary skill in the game that will boost up your attack power, plus there are legendary weapons that will boost up your leveling system. But they all have a price to them.

Example: Daisuke gets the legendary weapon called Death's Scythe. That weapon boosts your leveling system 5x. But every slash with the scythe can easy eat away at your life. The more he uses it, the more his life shortens. But it can shorten by days, hours, weeks, years even months. He doesn't know and know one knows. All they know is that it shortens your life.

There are the basics, it still needs some work but this is the skill list of the classes so far. If you have anymore questions just read the light novel when it comes out. ^_^

Maybe you could start it off with Introducing the main character or with a fight scene.

17 Name: Brom !4x3eUZkQpQ : 2013-01-27 07:35 ID:G3QQhKev [Del]

hmm well... you could start with a fight scene or something and then cut back say two weeks ago and then continue to tell the story from there and continue past the starting scene :D that's what i do for a few of my novels but then again they don't belong in this genre. but anyway good luck!

Everything starts with a fight scene these days, if your going with the stuck in a game thing then have a really cool important but unexplained scene with a unique event that could only occur in your story.
