The Catcher in the Rye (15)

I was wondering if anyone read the book "The Catcher in the Rye" by J.D . Salinger.
Sometimes I feel sad. Like the whole world is ending. Sometimes I wish I didn't know certain things. That in some way I was still innocent. When I read this book I felt attached to Holden because in a way we shared the same sarrows. Could anyone else relate to this book?

I too have read this book. I just wish I knew more about Holden. I can't really say I relate to him especially from the way he talks and when he does reveal some of his likes and dislikes they somewhat differ from mine. I don't think the ending was all that great but for a character like Holden I guess it was good enough.

Bump because favourite book.

I know there is another thread for this with more activity but the is original, so,yeah.

I have read this book many many times and it just gets better with every read. Every teenage boy should read this. Its the mosrt relatable piece of text I have read to date. I also wish I knew more about Holden, what did he do after he left the hospital? What happened at the military school he is supposed to be attending? I just wish it didn't end how it did, or it had a sequal. Holden is a brilliant anti-hero protagonist and shows that even when you think you're different to everyone and your problems are worse than anyone elses, they arent and you arent. Its realistic and very upfront. I like that.

Bump! This book will forever be one of my favorites. Holden's outlook on life both amuses and touches me. I believe every teenager should read this book because Holden's perceptions on look are quite relatable to those of teenagers.

Catcher in the Rye is one of my favorites! Holden is a rich kid in a post-WWII setting, before computers or even CD's, but I still find him relatable. What Mr. Antolini's speech is probably my favorite thing from a book.

Speaking of Mr. Antolini, I'm still not sure if he was making a pass at Holden or not. Any ideas?

>>5 As the reader we cant be certain because Holden over reacts to things and comes to conclusions that often aren't true. I would say Mr. Antolini cared for him like a father would to a son, also (If I remember corrrectly) he never had any sons, so Holden is the closest thing he has to one.

>>8 There are a few and in all honesty I didn't go searching for which one was best. I also bumped it beause its a good read? Not reason enough to bump are you saying?

>>9 No its a good read Im just saying we should try to develop a better thread for such a good book, seeing as thread quality on this one for OP wasnt great. You know, a picture of the most recent cover maybe, a desription (and a discussion topic maybe) you know , the works.
