So far I haven't had any threads get more than 1 or 2 posts. Here is another attempt. We all ne ed to be inspired and sometime to live life, enjoy it, and strive to reach are goals. After a long contemplation of where this thread should go, I've decided that this is the best board. Basically, you post a quote or a saying that helps you through life, the good and the bad. For other people to read and, who knows, maybe it'll help them? It can be a well know quote, something a friend or family said, something you made up, or just something that one random kid said.

Rules:
1) It has to have meaning to you
2) It can't be random and it has to make sense
3) Explain what it means to you

I know I know. Someone will want to know why I must have rules, and why they must contradict the paragraph before. They most likely won't even be followed. I was just hoping to prevent quotes like, "He ate my turtle" from popping up. Yes that is a quote.

Here is my quote. "The only reason why you don't get what you want, is because you didn't want it enough" To me this basically means that you'll never stop fighting to get something it you want it 100%. I came up with it :).

To be honest, I'm not tempted to explain what the quotes mean. I have to do that at the start of every English class X|

Buuuut, I can give a basic explanation of what I feel they're saying. They are two of many inspirational quotes that further show there is nothing wrong with dreaming. Having high hopes isn't wrong if you have the determination to go through with them.

Hm hard one. I'll go with in general the lyrics to "Across the Universe" by the Beatles. The original version of that song. Most people will look at them and think "hey how are these words inspirational?" but when you're being bullied constantly and are hiding in a bathroom to escape it, or you're having to hear your mom screaming at your dad over the phone for the second night in a row, having the words "Nothing's going to change my world" running over and over in your mind, or just hearing the gentleness of the Beatles singing that song, REALLY helps keep you calm. As for the longest time I only knew the "nothing's gonna change my world" part, I would end up curling up and repeating that part for a while.

In terms of being a quote, the words "Nothing's gonna change my world" means to me that no matter what bad things happen my world will stay sunny and happy as long as I want it to. In other words kind of like "The world is not as bad as you think it is" ^w^

I remembered this quote from my favorite book series of all time, Gregor the Overlander. It really stuck with me because when you think about it mutual need is really incredible. This quote is symbolic to me. People often say that "you only need to be healthy to be happy", but in fact it's not true. Even if life is absurd you have to full your soul with some kind of credo, you have to live for a purpose that you build for yourself. Else, you'll be healthy looking outside but empty inside, and I don't know if it is worth living like this.

I first came upon this quote awhile back in the middle of high school. And it just hit me hard. 'Cause you know, all students go through this unnecessary stress, and build it up even more trying to fix or mend, creating this undesirable ache to your mind and body. When I learned this, I felt like an idiotic for unable to notice that I am the one causing myself this stress, not the problem. All I had to do was drop it. And it was gone, just like that.
Forgot to do last night's homework? Oops, oh well, probably gonna get shit from the teacher(Now you know what will happen, you can stop worrying about it). That crush you've been longing for since the beginning of the school year just got into a relationship? Aw that's too bad.. Welp, can't change the past, can you? It's pretty simple when you think about it, by NOT thinking about it.

I think one problem of today's society it's the fact that most of people wouldn't accept themselves, and even there are a lot of people who hate themselves for who they are. In my opinion, people should be judged by their actions and not for who they are. In fact, your actions are what define you. But instead, we decide to judge each other (and ourselves) for being too fat, too thin, too tall, or for not having the curves the social standards establish. I think if we accept ourselves for who we are, we could really save ourselves a lot of trouble. Society doesn't seem to change for better anytime soon, so it's better to accept yourself as who you are, that way you won't get hurt by others or worst of all, by yourself.
It's OK to accept people for who they are, but also never forget that yourself are a human being too.

An interesting point of view. The stuff this character came out with was quite powerful and really made me think when I played the game. This is one of the quotes I remember and I think it does have some relevance to today's events, especially how there are so many radical events driven by religion or ideology.

I don't know that's not quite it but I can't put it into words. Regardless I think it works better as just the last bit. Then it can become whatever an individual needs at the time but is always a reminder to relax and have fun when the chance presents itself.

In this day in age a certain set thought runs through the world. Everyone is equal, and judging people because they believe differently than you is wrong. You can replace your opinions because a new standard has been set, and if something doesn't work out then you can just get a new thing. I hate this. I have grown to hate humans in general. We follow those whose job is to lie to us, to decieve us to keep their jobs. Our opinions should be heard not quelled and we must recongize each other as humans yes but we can still hate those we disagree with. AS long as you take the time to watch those you "hate". Life. Life is like mathematics. We don't know exactly what it is or what it means or whether or not it's actually a thing. Seriously, is Life even real? Or is it just a figment of humanity's collective imagination, like our Facebook profiles or every flavor of yogurt? Well, whatever it is, it seems to be getting us through the mundane matters of existing, so let's not question it.

To me this quote simply means to work on oneself to be the best person you can be character wise and not to care weather people call you boring and exclude you, spread rumors that you are creepy and call you something you aren't so some people might even have a false assumption about who you are. It is about being able to like oneself and not needing others to define you.

Basically what it says. I always make an attempt sidestep the anger of this world daily, and instead of showing strength through combative displays, show strength through patience, humility, and kindness. And I'm also a Christian, so this quote is one which stands out to me in particular regardless. Now mind you, I do practice martial arts regularly in case someone feels the need to be extremely hostile. But that rarely happens, and I hope it doesn't happen to me anytime soon.

It's a quote I found in Chicken Soup for the Soul. Haha XD But really, in life, you can't really just wait for the challenge to end, you need to learn how to make it through - adapt and take over the disadvantages life is giving you. Learn how to conquer that challenge because a challenge won't end until you learn to conquer it.

Dancing in the rain is pretty dangerous. It won't be if you master how to not slip.

Most motivational quotes are stupid. I believe this one is genuine.

I like this quote because whats already set in concrete would be hard to change, but you can easily do thousands of things with an open field. For me it means that you get to choose between a road with one destination or an undefined overgrown field that can take you anywhere.
