Okay, this is awkward, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there is no 'Stephen King' thread. >:I

THIS. is thorougly perturbing and perplexing.......well, just wondering if there are any members out there who enjoy themselves a good cup of hawt tea and some of this dood's books? :o they're completely fabulous, long---yeah, but still fabulous.

The Green Mile.

I don't read much Stephen King, but this was by far the best book I've read by him.

Maybe because people were dying continuously..

Mysteries are my type of genre ;D
So are electric chairs.

Wow, I think you may be right about there not being a thread on the King. Perplexing, if not a little concerning.

There is nothing I love more than a Stephen King book. I've read every last one of his books with great enjoyment. I started reading this guy when I was in third grade, starting with The Shining. Lots of school nights were spent reading these novels.

As far as a favorite, I have a toss up between Cell, Pet Semetary, and The Talisman. Talisman wants to be on top because it's just the perfect book, Pet Semetary because of how twisted it is, and Cell for the staggering amounts of violence and gore in the first chapter.

I'm sorry but I've only seen the movies. But I love the green miles. Tom Hanks is really good in the movie.

okie doke, so we're including the movies somehow. The movies good? I saw the ending of pet semetary 2, but idk if that's even related. I've only read It so far, and yes it's very....horror-filled? xD

The things about this book I like (which I'm assuming is in all of his books) is that he only puts in information that you would need to understand the story, not unnecessary info for fillers or anything, and then if you reread it, it makes perfect sense U_Ub

>>6 Not quite. There are parts in alot of King's books that are nothing but twenty or so pages describing what kind of pants the main character is wearing. He'll take half a chapter describing a room in a house. Read Salem's Lot for a good reference.

I think the only book that breaks that mold is Cell. He wastes no time killing off a ton of people.

>>8 that shows lots more aboutchuu :I

>>7 but was the room important? just wondering....and yeah i spose i might just take a look at it now.

Has anyone read Desperation? >_> I was hoping sumun would cuz it sounded pretty good.

Desperation:
A notice to those who feel that Stephen King has lost his magic touch: Desperation is the genuine goods. The ensemble cast of ordinary Americans thrown together by chance, including a disgruntled alcoholic writer and a child who is wise beyond his years, may be a bit too familiar. But the nearly deserted Nevada mining town with an enormous haunted mine pit and an abandoned movie theatre where the survivors hang out makes for a striking battleground, and the grisly action rarely flags. Best of all, though, are the characters of Tak, the ancient body-hopping evil who emerges from the mine, and of "God"--whom the New York Times describes as "the edgiest creation in Desperation. Remote, isolated, ironic, shrouded behind disguises, perhaps ‘another legendary shadow,' this deity forms a sly foil, and an icy mirror, to Tak."

>>9 Honestly, one of his best books. Very twisted. Has a bit of everything King, from religious aspects to war flash backs. One guy even gets mauled by a mountain lion, it's great.

I reserved the book, sure sounds you like you enjoyed it. :O thanks for the -non- spoilers too /o/

And Carrie? It was on tv, but i had to restrain myself from watching it, that and it was ppv which I clearly did not want to pay for. I kinda want to read that too....and watch the movie and the It move. :U SOUNDS LIKE A BUCKETLIST.

>>11 Carrie is better as a book than a movie. It's a tragedy in which I enjoyed very much. It's about a girl who is the ultimate black sheep, definately give it a read when you can.
