Myth world having advanced technology makes no sense at all though. Technology came about as Humanity's response to being squishy fleshbags with no claws or teeth to go nom'ing with - As a result, they were forced to develop artifical claws and skin to keep them from being nom'd and allow them to pewpew their way to the top.

When you have access to innate special abilities that defy the laws of physics and reality, causing the very facets of existence to bend themselves to your will...Why are you going to start learning how to make sharp rocks?

well part of what makes him such a hard guy to beat is that he is just doing his job. he should be established as a family man and a sympathetic character so that our heroes and the people playing them will have a hard time accepting the idea of killing him.

Also, the military forces are subject to the Cop Competency level we've got going. I think anyone can control them (once they're introduce. Again, not for a while), so long as you realize that they are -frighteningly- good at what they do. And these guys have bigger guns to do it.

So you want an ambiguously evil military antagonist. Preferrably of Colonel or Commander rank (as always).

I'd also like to say that Military forces are many more times more competent than the local cops. So I don't think they're subject to Cop Competency. Military are THE SHIZ, they are SRS BUSINESS.

You won't want to meet them when they're organised.

What Misuto meant by clarification is that the Wendigo didn't run off - After it crashed through the hospital it made a U-turn and is back where everyone is.

Well, of course the military isn't evil. They're just your average (GI) Joes who are athletic (depends), great with guns, and are trained for stuff. They still like sitting around drinking beer with people, and they still want to get back home to their family. The whole 'xenophobic, nuke-happy military mastermind' has just been overplayed.

You know, I've always adored the idea of a calm, stoic soldier. Doesn't talk much, always see him with a cig in his mouth, have a sort of fatherly sort of feel about him.

To sum it up Ambitionist, the Hekatonkheires thread is a Role Play thread.

The premise is that...

All myths are true. Gods, creatures, spirits, demons, monsters, legends... Everything that we know as fantasy is real - It resides in an uncreatively named place referred to as the Myth World.

Due to plot devices we're still working on, that world and our own has begun to merge - Roughly five or six days ago. The town Mumble is where the merge is occurring currently, and some citizens have gained counterparts.

Counterparts are icons, creatures or things in the myth world that are merging with the human character. The merge lets the human slowly gain the powers, mannerisms, and sometimes form, of what ever they are merging with. Be aware, however, that the merge goes both ways - Their personalities and mentalities will mix. In the end, the human and the counterpart will both be lost in favor of something that is greater than the sum of its two parts.

Along side that happening, there are a lot of other plots going on. Different characters and factions have different goals and they're all influencing the story one way or another... It's a lot of chaos.

Of course, since all myths are true, this means some intersect and others are exaggerated. We've got a wiki for it, but it is severely out of date right now - The wiki can be found linked in the first post of the thread.

If you want to join, like I mentioned earlier in this thread - Just start writing. Join into the story. It is important to understand the context of the story you're joining into, so if there are any questions, be sure to ask them.

IE: We had a character named Lezaford Strange show up dual wielding a sword and a gun in a butler outfit trying to "bring chaos to the world".

That didn't go over well at all.

So basically - To join, just start writing. If you have questions, ask them here. If you've got a good grasp of the context of the series, then feel free to hop in.

Don't worry about it too much. I started at the very end of the first act, and I still have trouble with the names. I usually take a moment to re-read the posts I respond to just to make sure I know I'm mentioning the right character.

If you feel a bit overwhelmed by the main storyline (whenever you happen to get to it), I had a side character I started for when people were unable to post (or were just lazy) so that a separate storyline could go on. This gives the added bonus of not having to throw in a new character into a storyline with those who happen to be fighting world-ending monsters and feeling like your character is insignificant.

It always catches me off guard when someone decides to join in on the RP, and it always reminds me that we may not exactly be in a situation that is easy to jump in on.

We haven't updated the wiki for quite some time now, but if it's any consolation I'll try to summarize the current situation:

The Nephilim, creatures of world-ending destruction created by Yahweh (the jewish/christian god) were released into the city. The last couple hundred posts have outlined how this was dealt with between the current cast of characters. Long story short, most of the city is destroyed, and the rest is in ruins.

We're reaching a point in the story soon where things will be a bit calmer, though the setting will likely be vastly different from what is stated on the wiki, so my suggestion is that you wait for that to happen if you're still interested in joining in. Otherwise, I can't foresee you being able to get much exposition in amidst the chaos...

Unless the two finished merging at the last second when the worlds/dimensions/realities/times changed, they wouldn't be done merging. According to Taro, the current merges are the original merge merged with the new character, so if my original character didn't finish merging... I don't know what to do :|

If it helps, my character was not in the first story line at all, so I am simply taking it as clean slate with my god/creature. Aya was fine with that

They were forced to finish at the end. Whether you wanted them to or not is irrelevant - When the world ended, your previous character and their counterpart got tossed into the equivalent of a cosmic blender and set to Puree.

The result of that is merging with your new character.

Mathmatically: (Char2 + (Char1+Counter1)) = Mumble2

Notes: Your counterpart should expect to have absurd memory loss, and probably no clue the extent of their own power or the different things they can do. Why? Because the human would have had no idea, and they just came out of a big damn cosmic blender.

More Notes: They are one character now. The sum of its pieces.

So essentially the counterpart has amnesia dating back to always and has no idea what they are or what they can do.

...And if you wanted to get technical bambi - Your old counterpart would be dead. So you'd be starting fresh.

But aya, why?

Because you had a massive bloody dragon in the human world when our entire solar system got replaced by a big damn star.

Your dragon would be crispy chicken.

But they could have teleported back to the myth world at the last second!

Canon so far is that movement between the two worlds requires miracles as a catalyst. Your dragon did not possess miracles. They're a rare and insubstantial existence That don't like being used without equivalent payback - Even if you have access to miracles or know how to use it.

They finished merging anyway and have amnesia and no idea who or what they are.

You could do that, yes. But Souls are pretty much stand-alone regarding race or body - So unless dragons have some sort of spirit based abilities then the merge is pretty useless to you.

Examples of things with spiritual abilities: Kitsune don't even really have bodies. they're just spirits.

Ghosts, poltergeists, deities, elementals (IE: golems, undines, salamanders).

sorry i haven't been able to be on in a bit, so i thought i'd throw you all a status update. the battery to my phone exploded. luckily i have a spare, but to prevent it from exploding again, i wont be able to get on as often as i'd like.

good news though, posting will still be happening, just whenever i am able to reload the hekaton page. i have also been spending my downtime fleshing out the key members of that gang aya and chi asked for on such short notice, and the fact that i am actually enthusiastic about it should be a good sign. oh, and i've found my naming theme.

i can't help but have the feeling that dede doesn't know what kind of trouble he can get bjorn into in these next couple of posts, and i would hate to maim/kill a character just because the rper was slow on the uptake and confident.

i thought it was pretty obvious already, and now with my last post it should be painfully so, but sellari isn't a normal guy.

but by all means, everyone have your characters do whatever they would do in the situation. deus ex machina is always an option. i just needed to clear my conscious.

oh, and besides any normal replies you might have to the above, i would also like to know if any one else thought i was being obvious with the "something ain't right about this guy", thing, or is my insider information corrupting my opinion.

sorry for the double post, but trust me when i say it's for a good reason. the stall in the rp is getting a bit too out of hand, and although i would very much like to wait for my friends to finish up their real life business, it has reached the point where almost everyone is waiting on us. so sorry for that.

i feel bad, and a slow rp depresses me. so no worries, the plot thread will be tied up soon and other stuff can happen again. again, i am sorry for all of this. for those waiting on me, i hope you can forgive my patience, and for those i can't wait for anymore, i hope you forgive my need to appease everyone.

no no, you should take your time. anything that happens shouldn't be more than your character can handle at present. and if it is, you can always just run for it.

but yeah, last mumble seemed to have a problem similar to that. we'd face big challenges and are forced to "rank up" our powers out of a need to survive it logically. i kinda hope that this time around we can adapt to challenges at our characters current strengths. think creatively rather than just get stronger.

well, i don't really know what you mean by "fragment", but Anya is a character that will be playing an antagonistic role to a few rpers. whether or not bjorn will get involved or even what side he's on really depends on you.

right now, we have 3 different groups that are probably going to be taking an antagonistic role for most of the rps, two from me and one from sad, so i can understand if you happen to get a little lost in all of it. maybe i can try and straighten things out for you here, if you'd like.

To clarify post 1320 for Arc, from a more third person perspective, Lucia is just blinking erratically all over the place. The narrative is (somewhat) accurate from her perspective, and she doesn't realize she's doing this. (For example, it's not literally 6 miles. But she does blink in front of Knoll's face for a second.)

She is subconsciously blinking in an attempt to normalize her hallucinations, which are shifting just as erratically, until she grabs a hold of Cindy. At which point, half of her looks normal and the other half keeps fizzling in and out of form.

Got it. And it actually helps, considering Knoll would need something happening to realize what's going on from a non-hallucinated state. Plus, gives me a reason to throw in why he's not hallucinating.

oh sure. she'll be needing some extra muscle as the story progresses. i don't think there will be a shortage of things for bjorn to do. he knows jamie and some of the folks at the bakery, too, and i was actually counting on him meeting sellari again to give a decent kick to the vampire plotline. but yeah, the way i see it, your dance card shouldn't have any trouble filling up.

but yeah, the current time is around midnight in mumble, and we'll be going to a new day soon, so no worries.
