Hello! I have been part of the anime community for AGES now, and around 4 or so years ago I was really active on this site. I started drifting away from anime due to social concerns, but I came to realize that I love this ish too much.

ALSO... anime is starting to become kinda mainstream? By that, it's really just becoming more acceptable now, so the whole concern is starting to die out for me.

Anywho, I'm back! I wanted a solid anime community forum again, and I'm hella attached to this site in particular. I hope this site stays active!

I'm relatively new here, been lurking for a few weeks before finally posting something. It's been somewhat quiet though...

Why the social concerns over anime? Do people shun you for it?

Ehhh, my friends and I went through a huge anime phase in middle school and it was hella embarrassing for all of us involved. Everyone started making jokes about it and coming to see it as something pathetic (including myself), but it just didn't sit right with me in the end.

To make a long story short, no one really shunned me at the time, but it was more of just a general transition to hating anime.

Ah, peer pressure. It's a shame that most people (especially in the West) see anime as just something for children. They should see anime like Attack on Titan or Death note; maybe they'll change their minds.

I suggest looking at memes about anime haters online to cheer yourself up in such situations. (^_^)

I'm guessing it's because of the constant live-action remakes of famous anime series, like Death Note. They may have whitewashed the story but at the very least they introduced a lot of people to the anime world.

What animes are you watching right now? I'm just following AoT Season 3 as it comes out.

oooo me too! I'm currently watching Attack on Titan season 3, Free season 3, and My Hero Academia season 3. I'm also watching Diamond no Ace, Gintama, Steins;Gate, and I'm about to watch a movie called "The Night is Short, Walk on Girl"....
