Welcome to the Dollars! It should be a little comforting knowing you have a friend here to start off. Everyone is quite nice so try not to worry too much about making friends.
If there's a strike in doubt about making friends though, I'd suggest joining a fellow chat group. I've personally been a part of the GroupMe chat for around a year and it's filled with wonderful people. I'm sure the other chat groups would offer the same too.
