This particular site uses instead of [] for italics, bold, underline, etc. The format is the same as what you used, just replace the ['s with <'s and you'll be good.

Please read the FAQ. The thread named "Are you new?! Click me" is pretty helpful, too. Be careful to make sure any new threads are on the right boards and aren't duplicates and you should be fine.
