Man, Yakuza on PS2 is a wholly unique piece of gaming history. It's not quite a beat em up, not quite an RPG, but very much a Yakuza. The game ever, but in a positive connotation. The remake really cannot come close to how the original feels in tone and atmosphere. I wish Kiwami had kept the core tone of the original game, but had the core combat flow of 0, and as much as I hate saying it, get rid of Majima Everywhere. Yakuza 0's stylings really do not fit the tone or scrappiness of the first game, where combat is paced more like a Yukes wrestling game than Streets of Rage. Don't even get me started on Yakuza 2 vs Kiwami 2, the awkward rehash of the newest game into the remake completely screws that game's tone. Maybe we'll at least get a PC English release of the remaster eventually. In the meantime, check out the undub for the US version of the first game, it is absolutely phenomonal.
