Out of all the games I play I think I like playing J-RPGs more than any other type.

What are some of our favorite J-RPG franchises ?
and what are some you recommend ?

My personal favorite is the persona series and Shin magami tensei as a whole

Dancing all night is the greatest game of all time, I'm super excited about the upcoming dancing games

I've always wanted to try the Atelier series but never got around to it

I never liked any of the tales games but I've been playing tales of berseria and I'm really enjoying it

Star Ocean is one of my favorite rpg series. It's like final fantasy but better, since it's not turn based. This makes the fighting not as repetitive and boring. I like the complexity of the customization in the ps1 game. Yet one of the best videogame stories I know is the ps2 one. It makes you ponder what constitutes reality.

The legend of heroes is a great one too !

I'm really loving persona 5 (and I'm 77 hours in) but I need to find the time to play more persona 3

Hyperdimention neptunie is best J-RPG in all of world

easily valkyria chronicles atm for me, but star oceans a pretty close second. both series are brilliant both in storyline and character development. the gameplay's fun, and in valkyria chronicles case challenging even on the easiest missions, and most games in both series are relatively cheap ( <30$ CAD, woop)

I can't believe no one has mentioned Nier Automata! It is one of my favorite games and if I had a chance to redo the first time I played it, I would most certainly do.

Ps: The Persona series is also another favorite of mine.

I normally don't like J-RPGs. I like the stories but I can never get into the gameplay. However I recently played through Fate/Extra, a J-RPG that I really enjoyed both the story and gameplay of.

I believe blade & soul is a J-rpgmmo if your into that, its FTP with decent servers. It was kind of a big deal when the English version released in January of 2016. You should also play Black Desert Online, although it is a KRPGMMO (Korean RPG) It's $10 on steam and frequently goes on sale.

I’ve been really into Final Fantasy XV and Persona 5 lately, currently on my second run of P5, I know it’s probably not an RPG but I’m looking forward to Dissidia NT coming out next week, anyone else going to be getting it?

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is on my list of favorite J-RPGs right now. Kingdom Hearts will always have a place in my heart too. I'm also thinking of getting into Ni no Kuni 2 when it releases in the US! The list goes on and on.

I have to say if you want J-rpg's 3DS is the way to go. Xenoblade, Bravely Default, Dragon Quest 7 and 8, SMT Apocalypse, Fire Emblem Echoes, Stella Glow, Monster Hunter Stories, and the Devil Survivor games are all incredible JRPG's.

It's not as popular, but SMTs Devil Summoner series still remains my favourite. I come back to it every few months.

One of the older jrpgs I loved was Azure Dreams. The name might be different depending on where you are. Basically, you play as a young man who goes into a toer every day to hunt down monsters and look for treasure while trying to figure out what happened to your father.

I recently started playing Chrono Trigger
it's a phenomenal game
