Description courtesy of Steam:
Project Zomboid is the ultimate in zombie survival. Alone or in MP(Multiplayer): you loot, build, craft, fight, farm and fish in a struggle to survive. A hardcore RPG skillset, a vast map, a massively customisable sandbox and a cute tutorial raccoon await the unwary. So how will you die?

Project Zomboid is one of the best survival-style games I have played in a long time (and that's saying something, as I usually hate survival games). It is fun to play on your own or with friends, and they've recently added support for two players to play together off line by using a gamepad (one person uses the mouse&keyboard, the other uses a gamepad). While I haven't tried it myself, I have read that it works quite well.

The community is great, they're always coming up with mods and features to enhance the experience. The developers and team are awesome too. They know what people want, and they're dedicated, despite all the troubles they've faced (theft of laptops containing the code, Piracy of their paid alpha demo, and having their Paypal and Google Checkout accounts frozen since the game isn't actually finished (see below)).

While the game is still in Early Access, there's a lot of content, and the team is always working on creating more while updating and fixing the existing content. Unlike most games nowadays, you get way more than you pay for. The game costs $16.99 (Canadian).

My experiences with the game have been nothing but positive so far. You can live out entire lives, create stories behind every character (where did they come from, why are they alone or with the people they're with, how have they changed since the apocalypse, what has happened to them, what have they been forced to do?). Every time I play is a new adventure. My previous character may be dead (or zombified and roaming around the city) but a new survivor is out there, ready for you to play their story, your choices determining when and where they die in what is left of the world they once knew.
