This is from my own description, by the way.
Undertale is about a girl living in a world where Humans and Monsters co-exist. Years after the humans defeated the monsters, the losing race were sealed underground, where this girl had happened to fall into. With no escape, she is lead into an adventure through the ominous land where the monsters reside- and survive through it.


prologue to the game:
"Long ago, two races ruled over Earth: HUMANS and MONSTERS. One day, war broke out between the two races. After a long battle, the humans were victorious. They sealed the monsters underground with a magical spell.

In the year 201X, a small child scales Mt. Ebbot. It is said those who climb the mountain never return.

Seeking refuge from the rainy weather, the child enters a cave, and discovers an enormous hole.

Moving closer to get a better look...the child falls in.

Now the story begins." - Introduction


I have no words for this game but very comedic, punny (all the skeleton jokes GAWD XDXD), symbolistic, great development, has nostalgic vibes from other references (you know, homestuck, touhou, off, persona, phoenix wright, whatever you hear from 16 and 34 bit songs), and great storyline. I highly recommend you guys playing this game, PLEASE, I played this for 5 good hours and enjoyed every second of it. I also love all the characters that appear here (main, pls, Papyrus and Sans are just great).

Just yes. This is a really great game. Sans is my favorite out of all the characters.

The characters are all so great and finishing with the true end gives you that feeling of warmhearted happiness that not a lot of games have these days.

Knowing that great games like this exist, it fills you with determination!

I loved the really creative boss fights. Mettaton was probably my favorite.

lets just hope anyone who picks up the game on this recommendation doesn't have...

Well their gender is ambiguous everything but their name is left up to the player to decide the only things we know about them are they are a young child and they are called frisk

I love this game so much, it's personally my game of the year! There is actually a poll on gamefaqs and Undertale is in the league. The only absolute problem is that people are actually talking trash on this game just because it beat the classics.... Some undertale fans aren't helping either, just adding fuel to the fire...

Can someone tell me how interesting Undertale is? And a rating? I might want to start playing this but I'm not sure.

Actually toby fox intended for the main human character to be identifiable as either gender. That's why you never hear any character say him or her. Only they or them OP.

One of my favorite things about the games (beyond the skelebros and just the general dorkiness of it) is the music. I could listen to the soundtrack for hours <3

the music of this game is an absolute triumph. It really gives the game an ambiance past the visual style of the game. Absolutely beautiful.

It's the song that plays when you fight Undyne the Undying, when you take the Genocide route. What I really love about the song is that even the music is against you. YOU are killing all these innocent monsters, YOU are the villan in this story, and it's YOU that Undyne has to stop YOU from destroying everything she's ever cared about.

When the song gets to that one soft part though, I don't know why but I always get these feels, and remember when I was cooking with Undyne in a different Pacifist route or Neutral route, when we were friends. But now,she has to stop you. You are a threat to the world, and she has to be the true hero who's determination will stop you.

Bonetrousle/Nyeh Heh Heh! (aka Papyrus' song) makes me super happy, and Dummy! is fun to jam to. All the fight music perfectly captures the characters aannnd its great

This is a really great game and I played through all 3 runs and cried in each one (because I'm that emotional haha) Watching someone else play vs. Playing the game yourself does make a huge difference in how you take in the details, in my opinion. Excellent soundtrack also.

Yo, I noramally don't fall for shit unless it's got some serious merit value and moral contrast to it, but holy fuck.

i loved this game so so so so much-- but i literally have to fight myself from playing the no mercy run because i finished the pacifist and was really happy with the ending but.......curiosity (save me)
i love mettaton the most,, my friends say i should cosplay him because im "the idol everyone craves" and im flexible so i can just. do those leg poses lmao
all in all though- undertale is a really good game and is underrated by a lot of people I've told about it-- im glad theres a fanbase here (sorta ahaha)

Made me feel like shit by the time I got to the last boss. Quit the game without saving. NEVER GO NEUTRAL

Though I haven't had a chance to play the game myself, I'm than aware of the community based around it. I've received numerous recommendations online and from friends, so I'll probably post again sometime to give my review.

Definitely. if not, wait for a sale.

No the game is really offensive, they have two bony characters and that is really disgusting. Men shouldn't be bony, they should be fat and over weight. or at least close to it. I hate that these characters are literally a bunch of bones with no fat whatsoever. Other than that it's a very fun game, despite the other issue that there are no fat characters in the game.

The two bony characters are suppose to be supernatural and not all men are fat.

I tried neutral and genocide all in one... I killed everyone in the ruins..... toriel was a mistake, so I kept going genocide.... I got to papyrus started balling my eyes out and spared him.... I reset once I got to undyne..... she would be so disappointed and mad.......... plus I finished 2 true pacifists before that so.... I was bored.... boredom kills... so I plan on finishing another pacifist and putting the game away

Awe yeah love Undertale, haven't seen the good side of the fandom for awhile... it's a fun game, I love the characters (undyne is my favorite) and the story. If you haven't played it I highly recommend it, it's one of my absolute favorites ♡

Honestly, Undertale isn't really my type of game but it's pretty good. The battle mechanics are pretty unique and don't get boring. Too bad the majority of the fandom leaves much to be desired, to say the least.
