Note, once the game is finally out, I will remake this thread with a proper description of the game, for now this thread is to give some of what it seems to be.

Like some of the previous entries in the Persona series, Persona 5 is a role-playing game in which players live out a year in the life of a high school boy who gains the ability to summon facets of his psyche, known as Personas. The story, which takes place in Tokyo, appears to be based on the theme of crime(Persona 4:Let's solve crimes! Persona 5:Let's commit crimes!), with the protagonist and his allies donning masks to perform heists while also attending Shujin Gakuen High School. As such, dungeon exploration features additional elements from previous iterations, such as jumping across chandeliers or dashing between cover, suggesting stealth will play a larger role. Battles, which involve characters using their Personas to attack enemies, look to also have some refinements, with the protagonist able to equip both a melee weapon and a gun.

There are 4 characters as it seems for a team:

Protagonist(you) - The main protagonist, also known as the Phantom, who the player names and controls.

Ryuji Sakamoto - A blonde-haired boy who joins the protagonist's group.

Anne Takamaki - A girl in the protagonist's class.

Morgana - A black cat(of course, they had to have ANOTHER animal teammate.) who can shapeshift into a more humanoid form and helps the protagonist.

The thing I love about this game is that they're bringing back demons like in Persona 1 and 2. Assuming that the "Shadows" may no longer appear in the upcoming games now.(P3/P4).
Other than that, I really enjoy how the graphics are, for they compare to Catherine's graphics.(Persona 5 is using a special-built engine instead of a third-party like Catherine used.)
And apparently this new game is gonna be a picaresque romance style story.(Multiple antagonist chasing after the protagonist)
Other than that, this game looks extremely well to the Persona fandom, most likely for the ones who enjoyed Persona 1 and 2. I love all of the Persona games(and all Shin Megami Tensei games) For what I think this is gonna be highly successful.
So, who else is hyped for this?

Looks interesting. And the soundtrack (based on the trailer) is still as awesome as the previous ones.

it's the one that I've waited for long time!

Just watched the video and I'm SO PUMPED. Is it just me but it seemed like at one point the Protagonist was fighting persona, being Sandman and Pyro Jack. Also on a side note I hope we have the option to change weapons like in P3, I never liked the 2-handed swords in P4, thats just me though.

As someone new to the series, should I play one of the other ones before this one? or can I jump right in wherever?

>>20 You don't need to play any of the previous instalments to understand the plot, however there tend to be some call backs to previous games. If you were going to jump in I'd recommend starting with Persona 3 FES and then moving on to Persona 4 (the vita version if possible) and if you like those enough go back to Persona 2 Innocent Sin and Persona 2 Eternal Punishment. And if you like those two go back to the original Persona

Oh my god I absolutely CAN'T wait for this game.
From what I've seen of the trailer and gameplays, it will be one of the top games I enjoy playing. The art, the animation, just... everything! I like everything about it so far~
I also want to see more of that Phantom. He looks badass.

I've never played any of the games in the series but I really want to! I honestly want to get this game cause it looks amazing.

You should play them K-Strides. Persona 3 and 4 are the most popular ones in the series. Persona Q for the 3DS is a pretty good game too. Persona games all over are pretty amazing.
