The Witches house (Majo no Le) is an Indie Horror RPG made by Fummy in RPG Maker VX. You play as 13 year-old Viola, who, on the way through the woods to her friend's house, runs into a Witches house. The house is ever changing, and death lurks around every corner. However, with the help of a black cat, and a clever mind, she can escape the horrors.
It is played as a Top-Down RPG, similar to many old SNES games. You go from room to room, evading, and avoiding, and sometimes running headfirst into, dangerous traps and entities. You collect different items to use in puzzles to help progress through the five floors of the house, reading different witch diaries and finding a way out.
The music is pretty nice, and the ambiance make the game very creepy. Little things, like reflections in mirrors, off-screen flashes, and noises in the distance give a sense of dread, and the sudden silence in some rooms is quite unsettling.
I liked this game a lot. It only took me a little over an hour to play (in total), but it's a good time. Enemies popping out, and many jump-scares got me quite often, and I felt very satisfied knowing I could beat them. The Witches house is a game I'd recommend...well, I am recommending it...
