Final Fantasy XV, originally known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII, is an action role-playing game currently under development for the PlayStation 4 which, alongside Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Type-0, Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, makes up Fabula Nova Crystallis: Final Fantasy. The game, however, has no physical connections to the rest of the project, and will feature a wholly independent story and a unique visual design.

The story focuses around crystals. The main character, Noctis Lucis Caelum — who is part of a lineage of kings, but is not yet king himself — leads the country holding the last crystal, which is beneficial to his country's military, political, and economic standing. Because of increasingly apparent industrialization in contrast to neighboring nations (making them equivalent to a modern developed nation), Noctis's kingdom has isolated itself from the rest of the world.

At one time, all the other countries also possessed a crystal, yet lost them in warfare. They pooled their resources into weapons, granting them firearms in exchange for swords and magic. A cold war has gone on about the use of the crystal, but recently, a peace treaty was brought about between the countries, but a group of marauders are beginning to break it.

There exists a mythology in the kingdom of Tenebrae, an opposing country, about a goddess of death, the Goddess Etro who is said to greet the souls of the deceased, and open the door to the afterlife. When the door opens, the released souls burst out in a streak of light that ascends to heaven. Few people are able to see the light, and those who can are given power from the Kingdom of the Dead. During their conversation, Noctis and Stella mention they can see the light, and the former wonders if they are dying.

The game's focus is to examine the characters' humanity and distinguish it from the fantasy setting in other titles in the series. Nomura is "trying to propose new vision of how a Final Fantasy game can be. The game's going to be more human than the science-fiction caricature... and will focus around current world events - in that sense it's darker."

The music of Final Fantasy XV will be composed by Yoko Shimomura, who was also responsible for the soundtracks of the Kingdom Hearts series, Super Mario RPG, and the first Parasite Eve. She was also one of the composers for the critically-acclaimed Xenoblade Chronicles.

Personally, I've been excited for this game, ever since I saw the trailer in 2007-2008 and I never once lost hope that it would resurface in some form. Honestly, I had a feeling it would become Final Fantasy XV, and, after the announcement of the PS4, figured it might have been moved to that considering the long silence. I'm still extremely excited for this game, and have vowed to get a PS4 just so I can play it.

I would rather wait till the price goes down much lower for PS4 and this game. Getting games later is better for me. Its very rare I preorder a game

Guys im seriously pumped for this game but im so torn! day one edition for 59.99 or the deluxe edition for 89.99 but it comes with a blu-ray and that sweet steel book!! i just don't know if thirty dollars is worth it. I think so, but i have never bought anything above day one editions for a game before. anyone else going for the deluxe or collectors editions?

Saw someone made a new thread on this so I figured I'd dig up the first one, Just got my day one edition but it's a Christmas gift, so I've got to wait a few weeks to actually get my hands on it. Any one actually got to playing it?

I've gotten to play it.. I've put about 20 hours into it so far. Totally worth the wait and the money. You should enjoy it very much

This game has been nothing short of epic. I've got 40+ hours in it already and am still enjoying it just as much as the first hour that I played it. Definitely worth it for anyone who has doubts. If you don't own this game, you should get it immediately.

This game is pretty darn fun, but honestly feels a bit too easy at times.

Really the last final fantasy i played it was hard to play following the book its Fu%king huge that book that floor 52 key had me stuck forever not knowing what to do get lost so easy an throwing that kupo around was kinda funny though im going to get it but is it really that easy I've seen final fantasy brings the funest games yet some of the hardest not something that just anyone could fly throw even if they had a book for it
