Not to be picky but the dollars Destiny group description is a bit off, because anyone can join the Dollars and there is more then one Dollars website run by very different people, so that could and might be confusing to those other people.

I know how hyped things can get, but I think it would be better off if you let anyone join instead of putting up some kind of unknown prerequisite berries to be able to join the Dollars Destiny group.

The only thing I would have on there would be what console systems the Dollars Destiny group will be on or mainly on, As for my self I will be on my PS4.

I am just soo damn lucky I got invited for Destiny Alpha this weekend, they had a name lottery draw yesterday for PSN where you put your user name in and hope for the best. XD

destiny is amazing. The best game i played

Ended up playing today. I have a few complaints, mostly concerning bug issues and the controls, but it's definitely a fun time.
(To tell the truth, I've spent about as much time just admiring the visuals as I have fighting enemies. It's just so pretty.)

Now i know many could disagree, but frankly, i was not satisfied with Destiny. This was due to over hypment. Reasons:
1: The story line is not the best, i found there not to be much excitement within the storyline, it was very typical, theres a enemy, they do bad things XD
2: IN order to have a good experience in crucible, you HAVE to have a DLC. They are practically force feeding DLC onto you.
3: it was very repetitive. Meaning when it comes to campaign/ co-op all you did was run around and shoot same aliens, then u verse a boss.

"force feeding DLC" erm no updates are free, there are only 2 DLC "expansions" and they have not hit the game yet, so I have no idea what the heck you are on about? unless you think subbing for PS4 PS+ was DLC for some reason I don't know? because on the PS4 you need PS+ to play the *Crucible* and *Strikes*

I agree the game was over hyped, and the over all story is not the best in the world and the main game play is repetitive, like mmos.

Destiny is a solid shooter, but I can not see this game realistically lasting 10 years, which Bungie has been saying.

Destiny was looking so promising in the build up before release as a FPS with a good story, but Bungie has failed at delivering not even a half decent story to compel you or even make you to keep on playing the game, heck just one of "Star wars the old republic" starter planetary stories is longer then what's in Destiny, and that's saying something.

To be fair here, I blame Activision for what happened to the story.

Apparently, their lead writer left with less than a year to launch. For some reason, that mean the story had to be reworked. Most cinematics and most voice acting were rendered unusable by the new direction of the story. They even had to hire someone to write the Grimoire cards so we'd get knowledge of the universe at all. But that came so late that it wasn't able to be interfaced with the rest of the game (which is why it's onnline only). So I blame Activision for not postponing release date.

Everything is the creating of Destiny went downhill when the lead story writer of the game quit halfway through because of conflicting ideas. Then Activision sells whatever they could scrap together for the story line as DLC. Comet was never supposed to be DLC, Crow, the queen's brother, was an ally at one point, and that wizard came from the moon.

it's the worst game that i love.

I had played this with a group a friends from the day it launched until about a month after The Dark Below dlc came out. I think it was that it took them so long to patch Crota so you couldn't do the disconnect cheese to beat him that made me uninstall the game. I had purchased the season pass but have never played any of the content from the house of wolves dlc.

So, negativity out of the way, I ask; how have people been playing a persistent game still when the developers have shown they title was not ready and should have probably launched this year instead of last year?

I've been playing Destiny consistently since launch, the only times i haven't it's because i didn't have access to my xbox. when it comes to games that don't live up gameplay wise, i think a large portion of people can continue playing that game, as long as they can find something to keep enjoying it for. of course, it's good that destiny has been moderately well supported too. when it comes to destiny alot of people have kept playing it because it has a great community. (destinylfg.net aside) I myself have been playing mostly because it allows me to keep in touch with friends easily, I'm part of a clan with 5 other guys who live in alaska, while i live in southern Canada. i never would have met the guys if it weren't for the great community that spawned around it.

other games tend to have other features that draw in crowds. as i recall, a game called Orion: prelude was nearly the worst game on the market when it released 2-3 years ago. almost everyone hated it, but the developers instead of ditching the game, stuck with it, patched it, updated it across all that time and now it's really really fun gameplay wise. it's a gem in the rough. people tend to find what they like about a game and they will stick with it if it's gotten enough love.

Halo: reach is another good example. it still has an online population of ~5000 unique players per day, which is not bad considering it's age. it draws bigger crowds than the far more recent Titanfall, which online sees population of hundreds at most on pc. why did more people stick to halo:reach than titafall? most people enjoyed titanfall, it was a good game. what makes Reach special? Orion Prelude? or Destiny?

Destiny was rushed out the door may seem like a big thing to people not currently active in the community, but my friends and i hardly care, we're having fun with each other, whether or not the game is "good" or not. and that's what i think is the important thing here.

The group of friends I play with did it for the same reason. Some of us are still in our home town but others are not so we meet up to play games. We all pretty much ditched the game for the same reasons. We still play together (Titanfall, Smite, they play Halo:MCC) so I can see a game like Destiny being the glue that holds the group together. I guess my friends and I just can't stick with one for too long, haha.

*Destiny 2* will be coming out this year and the release date is set for 8th of September 2017, which means the "pre-order beta" will likely be coming in the next few months,

Also you will be able play Destiny 2 on the PC which will need you to make a Battle.net account, if you didn't know Bungie has a 10 year contract with Activision which merged with Blizzard a good number of years ago, but both Activision and Blizzard still have a fair amount of independents from each other.

For people who have not looked on Bungie's website the pre-order beta for Destiny 2 dates has been set,
