BioShock Infinite is an upcoming first-person shooter video game and the third installment in the BioShock series. Previously known as "Project Icarus", it is being developed by Irrational Games for a March 26, 2013 worldwide release on the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 platforms. BioShock Infinite is not part of the storyline of previous BioShock games but features similar gameplay concepts and themes.

Set in 1912 during the growth of American Exceptionalism, the game's protagonist, former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, is sent to the floating air-city of Columbia to find a young woman, Elizabeth, who has been held captive there for the last twelve years. Though Booker rescues Elizabeth, the two are pursued by the city's warring factions; the nativist and elite Founders that strive to keep the city for pure Americans, and the Vox Populi, a rebel grouping representing the common people. Booker finds Elizabeth to be central to this conflict, and that she also holds strange powers to manipulate rifts in the time-space continuum that ravage Columbia.

The player controls Booker throughout the game, eventually working with the AI-controlled Elizabeth. Like previous BioShock games, the player uses a combination of weapons, gear, psychokinetic powers granted through vigors and Elizabeth's own powers to fight off hostile foes and make their way through Columbia.

In contrast to the limited spaces of the underwater city of Rapture, the open-air city of Columbia provides for more combat challenges, including combat that takes place aboard the city's Skyline rollercoaster-like rail system. The game will also feature an optional "1999 Mode", harkening back to games like System Shock 2 where decisions made by the player will have a more permanent impact on the game, possibly leading the player to an unwinnable situation and requiring a restart from an earlier saved game.

BioShock Infinite has received early pre-release attention, winning several awards including the "Best of Show" at the 2011 E3 show.

I've had this game on pre-order since last spring. Can't wait to tear it up.

Okay. I just finished it. Certainly a must-buy game if you're into the franchise or even the FPS genre. Combat is fluent, weapons are easy to use and diversified, vigors(powers) are insanely fun to throw at people, and the partner AI actually helps you this time around.

Played the whole game on Normal using Murder of Crows vigor and the Carbine Rifle. Now I have to start on the "1999 Mode".

>>2 Jailbreak your xbox and download the game xP

Anyways the game is awesome good thing my PC can handle that much fire power, and I totally fell in love with Elizabeth, her AI is so complex and amazing, she interact with the environment without getting in your way and she even helps you with lots of stuff.

Just awesome.

i personally thought the gameplay was boring. the magnetic jumps i thought were dumb and there were just dozens of enemies that came out of nowhere. it is a very pretty and overall not a bad game. just not to my taste. i personally enjoyed the first Bioshock a lot more. just my opinion.

Bought it last year, played all of it until nearly the end, then shelved it because... I don't even know.
Then I just randomly took it off the shelf yesterday, and I played, and I played, and I played, and I didn't stop until it was all over.

And that ending. Wow. I would dedicate some time to give it some though and try to make sure I've got everything figured out right, but my head hurts and I'm tired as fuck. But it was worthit.

I have played this game and i'm close to the end but...

Its BETTER than the first two. I hope it gets a sequel and one of these days i'm getting the DLC "Buried at Sea" for it.
