Pokémon X and Y : A New Generation

Pokémon X Version (Japanese: ポケットモンスターＸ Pocket Monsters X) and Pokémon Y Version (Japanese: ポケットモンスターＹ Pocket Monsters Y) are the primary paired versions of the upcoming Generation VI. The games will be available on the Nintendo 3DS.
Both games were revealed during a worldwide announcement by Satoru Iwata through Nintendo Direct at 8 PM JST, on January 8, 2013. The paired versions will be released worldwide (except for select countries) on October 2013 and available for both retail and download.

Full 3D gameplay
Unlike any other games in the main series, Pokémon X and Y feature a completely 3-dimensional style of gameplay, and the use of sprites that were present since Generation I has been replaced with 3D modeled characters and creatures. The battle system is aesthetically overhauled, featuring more lively reactions to the attacks, such as when a Pokémon is being hit.

Gyms
X and Y will feature Gyms like every other main series title. A Gym seen in the Nintendo Direct trailer features the female protagonist standing on a floating platform that transforms into a room.

New Pokémon
Currently, 5 new Pokémon are confirmed for X and Y. How many total new Pokémon will be released is unknown at this point.
The first Pokémon to be released were Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Xerneas, and Yveltal on January 8, 2013.

It seems cool but i seems kinda stupid. I think maybe because A.)There are MORE new pokemon B.)There are no sprites,Im excited for no sprites but then again im sad as a fan of the games. Everyone grew up with sprites so itll be hard to adjust. C.) Everyone is praying that there isnt another FIRE/FIGHT.Other wise the game seems really interesting but it wont have the same feel like Diamond/Pearl/Platinum did.

Screw this! pokemon has been getting progressively worse after 3rd gen. No serious pokemon fan can say that Gen V were good games. They need to stop making more pokemon and go back and re-make some of the older games that we grew up with. I dont know what ill do if i hear talk of a gen VII

3)I will get both X and Y, so I am planning on get Froakie, the water starter, and Fennekin, the fire starter.
4)I like the new eeveelution, Sylveon. It looks like Skyla, the flying type gym leader from the Unova region. I think this new eeveelution will be flying because of the colors it has and how it looks like a gym leader who specializes in flying type pokemon.

Really excited for this game, especially after the release of Hordes, Sky Battle, Pokemon Amie and the new type (Although 'Light' would have been a better name than 'Fairy' imao).
Sylveon, the new Fairy/Dragon Pokemon and Yamchan will be in my team for sure.
Shame we'll all have to buy 3DS's to play it, I UNDERSTAND YOU WANT MONEY NINTENDO BUT FFS JUST RELEASE IT ON NORMAL DS.

I'm beyond curious for the starter pokemon's final forms. I'll punch the person next to me if I see a fire-fighting pokemon. But I'm really hoping for a good water typing. What do you think, water-dark? That'd be something. And every water starter is at least a little bulky, so we would have a dark that might last more than two turns!

So i hear we start with first gen starters instead of sixth gen. Im okay with that. Mega eveolution blastoise looks awesome.

@Hibari, you start with the 6th gen starters given to you by your rival(or friend, I don't know which), AND I think you get the 1st gen starters from Professor something something.

It seem the the second stages of the new starters are their respective types, so it seem good so far. Also, two different forms for Mewtwo depending on which game your playing. Mega MewtwoX is a Psychic/Fighting type.

All sounds very OP'd (Over powered, not original post) to me. I realllllly want this game but I just cant afford to make the 3DS leap yet :/

In contrast to some of the opinions on here, I think that X and Y is actually pretty original, in comparison to one of the worse generations. Honestly, I think it's just because the designs are getting more elaborate that people are complaining; you can seriously tell someone that the name "Beedrill" was good for a bee with drills. On. Its. Legs.

Overall, it looks cool, what with its new graphics. The new battle layout looks really nice, and I've heard that you can also customize your trainer to come extent (outfit combinations, hair color, etc). I don't know if it's really true, but I guess we'll find out.

It seems like we're getting a surprising of Mega Evolutions.

So it's been revealed in this game that the Hiker from gen V got a boyfriend! Everyone needs to celebrate.

Sylveon is over powered. I tried out Xerneas, and it's WEAKER than my Sylveon. Heck, my Sylveon OHKed an equal leveled Pokemon with a not very effective move, no critical.

Didn't really read many other posts/opinions on this thread yet, just popping in to throw in my two cents.

This game is wonderful.

The new fairy type works out in balancing things well, the super training mode makes EV training not the worst thing ever, the plot is above average for the series and does a good job touching on an actual world issue (a nihilistic view of scarcity and overpopulation)... and the graphics

I also really like Pokemon Amie because fuck who doesn't want to pet everything from Pikachu to ancient eldritch destruction machines?

I haven't gotten to endgame/postgame yet - I'm approaching the 8th gym now - but I'm really looking forward to mega evolving Mawile and my shiny Medicham.

I grew up with pokemon and i have great memories, but buying a 3ds just for x and y seems a bit too far to stretch. I'll just pray somebody makes an emulation onto pc :D

So I beat the Elite Four on Friday night (Saturday morning). It was the most satisfying victory, completing it with a party at max level 57. I heard people really swept them because leveling was so easy in this game, so I took steps beforehand to mitigate that. I know it's an excessive handicap, being 7-10 levels below their pokemon, but if you haven't reached that point yet I highly recommend you challenge at ~55. Totally worth the tension. Though, if you're going in with no items except post-battle revives, might wanna wait til maybe 60. The tradeoff for such a handicap is that they don't skimp on offense, so it forces you to play with a modicum of strategy.

Following up on >>74, Sylveon really is rather powerful, I found - with its crazy special defense and light screen, it could go toe to toe with the champion's final pokemon... albeit, very slowly. And with hyper potions.

And my fucking panda got to uppercut two dinosaurs. Fuck yeah.

Awesome ending sequence too, from the extravagant the Elite Four rooms (seriously, fuck, PokeFrance, where do you get the budget??) to the pre-credits part. No spoilers here, but I teared up a little.

My only qualm about this game was the rivals. I made every effort to keep my team significantly underleveled by turning off EXP share and switching out between 9-10 different pokemon to keep things challenging, and Serena still never put up a fight. Things might have been different if she at least had a full party at some point before endgame. It goes without saying that neither did the other three.

Can't wait to get through whatever endgame content there is so I can put together a decent Kalos team before Poketransfer comes out. I spent all last night breeding Ralts for a good Gallade, too.

Speaking of which, does anyone want like 30 Ralts? Because I have about 30 Ralts left after wonder trading a dozen of em.

I only lost one Pokemon to the Champion the first time, and that was only because I didn't know their first Pokemon's type. I don't use Serebii until after I beat the champion, so I was using Smack Down when I should have just been using Water Pulse in order to get the STAB bonus for my Greninja. He died before I was able to do any real damage with him, though, and the rest if their party was getting OHKed by super effective moves.

And the post-champion battle aftermath. Just... /tear

Go catch this thing if you want some endgame stuffs. The road to it is pretty hard to navigate if you haven't been there before, and he starts at level 70. I'm not going to use him personally, but I was just messing around with Pokeballs I didn't want in order to charge up my Timer Ball, and he got caught in a Repeat Ball. Fun times.

Also, Aegislash's forme change. an entire 200 switch from defense and special defense over to the attacks and vice-versa. Eighteenth highest attack with 399 on neutral nature, 438 on beneficial, and has equal special attack. Combine that with three Swords Dances while in shield forme, and OHK machine.

I haven't gotten through much of the endgame yet - after the elite four I was more concerned with making an endgame team :V
Until poketransfer is out everyone has time to play around with what's there, so I was going to try out some like Gourgeist and Noivern in the battle maison after training them up. Super Training is a godsend for EV training - makes the process so painless.

Anyone try Friend Safari yet? Mine is poison, I think, and the only one of the three I'm aware of is Garbodor . -.

You should also know there's no working 3ds emulator. So even if you have the rom, you won't be able to play it. The emulator won't even be out until like maybe 5 years from now, since the system's pretty hard to crack, according to many from other parts of the Internet.

I just got the game yesterday and the only problem I've had so far is that PCs don't seem to have a "Move Pokemon" function anymore. Only withdraw and deposit.

Organization will be too much of a pain for me to bother now.

Anyways... I really like X and Y's customization features. Being able to buy your own outfits and arrange them like you want is sweet. Plus being able to change your hair and eye color later on is a nice touch if you don't like what you get with your player faces.
