It's an interesting take on Chess, though a little buggy. The problem is that not enough people log on--perhaps Chess fans looking for a challenge could change that?

Chess fans looking for a challenge should just try picking up Shogi or igo/baduk/wéiqí, but if a three way chess board floats your boat go for it.

Its not like you can't play igo/baduk/wéiqí up to 5 people taking truns or even play against your own mistakes :P

My buddy printed off a template for a 3-way chess board and me and a friend played it with him, but with a catch. Instead of just normal chess, it was "Role Playing" chess.

What makes it different is that you play as a king over an army of "real people". Your goal isn't just to win, but also to win while sparing your people's lives. You have to deal with the guilt of saying, "go and die for me" for your men.

In actual practice, we basically just named each piece and gave them a backstory, and when a piece would die, we'd come up with a creative death and make it super dramatic. Then we kept on adding stuff, like you had to collect the body of the fallen off of the board before you could trade out your pawn for it, (because you need the body in order to do the reanimation jetsu, you know.) and it kinda just spiraled out of control from there.

Definitely the most fun i've ever had playing chess.
