Note: This thread does not pertain to either the Original Xbox or the Xbox 360. Therefore, it gets its own thread.

So, for anyone that has had an ear to the ground today, images were leaked showing the design and name of the successor to the Xbox 360. The console, currently codenamed Durango, is officially known as The Xbox, or just plain Xbox. See above photo for the design of the console itself. A link to another photo highlighting a few things will be listed down below. These photo's, as well as the details, were leaked through an issue of Xbox World magazine, which also stated a full reveal in their second to last issue, which is well before E3 2013. So here are the leaked facts as they stand:

- It will be called The Xbox or just plain Xbox
- It supports Blu-Ray discs
- It contains a Quad-Core Processor
- Will ship with Kinect 2.0 in the box
- Will be compatible with an as of yet unannounced Augmented/Virtual Reality Headset(Possibly something other than the Oculus Rift which will likely be supported as well.)
- Will retail for $299.99
- Will release Holiday 2013
- Has 8GB of RAM(Note: This is not HDD(Hard Disk Drive) Memory)

There's a whole bunch of other stuff which I can't quite remember. I'd have to locate the article with the rest of it. But until then, here's the article that I got all of this from:

http://crave.cnet.co.uk/gadgets/xbox-720-to-be-called-just-xbox-tipped-for-spring-launch-50009783/

I can probably find better links if I have to. Its all over the place now. And here's the other pic I promised:

I also found another article with some other stuff:

Wow, looks like they took my advice for the most part. But fuck, I honestly didn't expect 8GB of RAM, I expected only 4GB. But hey, why the hell would I complain lol?

Now, I wonder if they'll do what I also suggested and use SSD technology.

>>3 Better yet, Virtual Boy anyone?

But still, it might be a hit. You can never tell.

>>4 Tech's come pretty far since those days. Oculus Rift is proof we're coming close, but not quite there. Microsoft filed a patent for some kind of augmented reality glasses a while back, I think June or July. Kinda reminds me of DotHack. They also filed a patent for a device that could project the game around you in a full 360 degree view. Used in conjunction with Kinect, and it would track your movements and the images would shift accordingly.

>>3 I put a slash between Augmented and Virtual for a reason. Because i'm not sure which it will be. Augmented Reality, is basically just like modifying what you can see. The 3DS lets you use its camera's to see 3D objects in the real world that arn't actually there. The Oculus Rift blocks out your view of the real world and let's you see only the game world in front of you, with the screen turning as your head does, giving you the allusion of being in the game. Virtual Reality, is when your are either Subconciously or Physically inside the game. DotHack and Sword Art Online are great examples of Subconcious Virtual Reality. Your physical body is still present in the real world, and you are still slightly aware of the fact, but your subconcious is inside the game world. Its basically like having a dream, except in a precreated environment and your fully in control. The best example of Physical Virtual Reality is either Code Lyoko of Bakugan Interspace from Bakugan: Mechtanium Surge, where their physical bodies get digitized basically and reconstructed digitally in the game world or other virtual environment.

>>6 For some reason, I don't see a problem with that. So long as I can respawn. In there is better than out here.... until they shut the servers down.

I'll call it... the XBOX Durango.

>>8 I'm glad its not actually called that. Seriously, just codenaming it that gives me this impression: A bunch of guys sitting around a table. One has a dart is covering his eye's. He throws the dart and it hits the board. He looks at the board. "It's settled! We'll codename the next Xbox.... The Durango." Seriously, it sounds like someone lost a bet or something. Sony has a better codename for their next system.

No offence, but I seriously doubt the xBox that's coming out (not saying Playstation will better it, since, in the end of console wars, everyone loses by looking like the senators in Congress who can't agree on a single purpose). The Kinect always proved to be a nuissance then a helpful and fun tool (Ahem, Sonic Free Riders deserves to burn in hell still), Quad core is nice, but not for $300. I'm guessing additional cost for multiplayer in xBox or at least horrible service at first with millions of flaws in the console (For pete's sake, people, don't buy consoles the moment they come out, remember RROD? Wait at least 3 months for the console to patch and adapt).

Pretty much, doubt the xBox 720, PS4, and especially the WiiU this year.

I heard the next Xbox will not be backwards compatible. Kinect sucks and the so called 'virtual reality' headset will be crappy like all others out there.
I'm rooting for you Sony.

>>11 It WILL likely be backwards compatible. I've heard the same about the PlayStation Orbis. Its not supposed to be backwards compatible with either of the other two systems. Kinect is OK, if you find the right game. And you havn't seen the VR headset yet, therefore you can't judge it.
