Just like the title says, are these games worth getting:

- Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice
- Disgaea 4: A Promise Unbroken
- Record of Agarest War
- Record of Agarest War Zero
- Record of Agarest War 2
- Yakuza: Dead Souls

I'm just looking to finish up my christmas list this weekend since my parents are getting impatient, and i'm not sure if I want to get these games or not. Can anyone give their personal opinions or recommendations?

Okay, keep in mind that obviously I'm going to be biased in this. I might say things that might annoy some people.

In regards to Disgaea, 2 is probably the best in the series. 3 and 4 are okay games, but they add more and more mechanics and the game starts to feel cluttered rather then complex. To be honest, I was able to play 2 the entire way through having fun, but both 3 and 4 felt like chores at times. Basically, I'd say get Disgaea 2 over the others if you can.

Records of the Agarest War is quite the fun little RPG, but it is a bit fanservice heavy. Also, the game gets a bit slow and repetitive at times, but if you liked the Disgaea combat system you'll find similarities in the RoAW combat. Also, RoAW Zero? Don't get that. Seriously, it's mediocre and terrible. Fortunately 2 is an improvement on the original so you can safely get that.

Unfortunately, I can't comment on Yakuza as I've never played it, so I'm no hope there.

Also, I'm going to throw a recommendation of my own here - Bladestorm. It's a game from 2006 for the PS3 (don't know if it's on Xbox) which essentially puts you in the role of a mercenary captain in the middle of the Hundred Year War. In a nutshell the gameplay can be said to be like Dynasty Warriors, except for the fact that you're actually dependant on your squad to win rather then being able to rambo through the entire enemy army. Where it starts getting intricate is the tactics the AI uses and how different squad types match up with each other (Protip: NEVER use longspears). The downside is that since it's so old and didn't sell well that you'll be lucky to find a copy anywhere. Even so, it's worth it if you can find it.
