A new card game that has been rising in popularity over the past year is Cardfight!! Vanguard. The game I have to say is really fun, but the cards are not cheap.
The game requires you to place an avatar on the field, give it supporters and destroy your opponent. Everytime you attack your opponent places a card from the top of their deck to a special area, if he/she gets 6 you win the game.
It becomes a race to win the battle on a planet known as Crey, and your spirit becomes the monsters that battle.

Excuse the typo. The planet is called Cray, not crey. My bad.

Better than Yu-Gi-Oh!, Yugioh GX, Yugioh 5D's and Duel Master.

>>3 I don't know about Duel Masters. That card game is pretty sweet. YuGiOh is still awesome, but the only shows worth it was the original and 5Ds, but we got some good cards out of it.
Vanguard is very awesome, I hope it doesn't die off like Chaotic and Naruto CCG.

Pffft. Magic: the Gathering. That's a tcg

>>4 5DS seems so retarded to me.

I haven't gotten a deck yet, but I'm gonna be playing for the first time in the near future. Of course that'll mean that I'll have gotten into at least three different card games.
This one, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Magic: The Gathering.
It seems as thought I'll be getting my start with the Royal Paladins, but that's not really a bad thing anyway.

11 Name: sakazaki : 2012-08-29 05:16 ID:lZqjufVK [Del]

Yu-gi-oh! And duel masters isn't that bad when you get used to it. But Vanguard is awesome. Just like you compare pokemon with digimon (witch was already settled in 2007.)

12 Name: TallFry : 2012-08-29 18:00 ID:LzT1p/n6 [Del]

I've had a lot of fun with every card game I play. I don't bother to compare them because they're all different. Just think of them as a gem of their own, and don't compare. It's still just for fun.

So, once I have the money and the ability to find it, I plan on picking up several packs so that I can finish my Royal Paladin deck. I have two builds for it. One of them goes for Soul Saver Dragon, the other (the one I'm more interested in) is a Majesty Lord Blaster build. Of course the second one can't be finished until Awakening of the Twin Blades comes out next year, but it'll be worth it. Until then I still have ideas for decks using Gold Paladins, Shadow Paladins, Nova Grappler, Dimension Police, and Kagero. Although I'm sticking with Royal and Gold for now.

Short version: Yu-gi-oh made complicated....-er

15 Name: TallFry : 2012-12-12 05:05 ID:urMSsgg8 [Del]

Actually, between the three card games that I play (Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Cardfight!! Vanguard), this game is by far the simplest of them. Yu-Gi-Oh! takes the middle route, having more strategic depth to it, and then Magic takes the top spot when it comes to complexity. I'm still trying to figure that game out.

even though it is easy to classify this as yu-gi-oh with monsters only, i actually quite enjoy this card game, the main thing i like about it is that its not about your deck, fuck the problem with yu-gi-oh was that as long as you had a deck that was overpowered as fuck so you could pull exodia every game on your first fucking turn. whilst with vanguard, you can beat someone who has been working on their deck for years with a trial deck you just bought 2 minutes before the cardfight...
there have been people who have won shop tournaments with set 1 trial decks...
that is not fucking easy with how little the deck actually works...

It sounds like a good game. I may go check it out if i can find it.
>>17 yeah, you're right about yu-gi-oh. It can be completely overpowering if your opponent has insane cards.

19 Name: Gekix : 2013-01-20 15:29 ID:fYpd3zbl [Del]

Vanguard is a good game...we you can play it online since the cost to buy a deck is so big and the premade decks are so limited
I relly hope they make more decks and make it cheaper so that i can play it with real cards instead of online though
P.S. if anyone wants to play online it's www.tradecardsonline.com but there can be very limited games played when not premium witch is a bit irritating
(only 3-4 games at a time) but you can make whatever deck you like...oow and if you decide to show up try my sweeeet decks ;)
Anyhow what this sage click box is(I know it's irrelevant but still it bugs me...)

I might as well try this out, see how it works.

Maybe.

The cards look interesting IRL.

Vanguard seems interesting, but I will personally stick to YuGiOh. I love the balancing and constant change in strategy needed to succeed.

25 Name: Acid Shampoo : 2013-01-22 21:41 ID:SoAoF5ev [Del]

>>24 yu-gi-oh balancing? pfft yes i do believe that my deck which can get all of my exodia pieces into my hand on my first turn is definately balanced...
there is allways a change in strategy in vanguard because it depends on luck and just how you play...
guard too much you get hit
guard too little and your dead.

26 Name: Acid Shampoo : 2013-01-22 21:44 ID:SoAoF5ev [Del]

i mean... in yu-gi-oh is it possible to beat a fully built deck with a trial deck...
trial deck 1: royal paladins
vs
spectral duke dragon gold paladins
royal paladins wins
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK

I've only started about 3 months ago myself, getting the 10th trail deck "Purgatory Revenger" (oh how I love me some Shadow Paladins) but that's all the experience I have. While there is no one near me who plays it, I still find it a very fun game and would like to get a game in every chance I get.

31 Name: Kirusan !SvzsunXAUI : 2014-03-03 15:39 ID:O4AMdHqS [Del]

I love Vanguard, I like the Neo Nectar clan which is annoying because they aren't given new cards anymore DX

32 Name: Shadow Wolfboy : 2014-03-03 19:17 ID:SUHVxfDL [Del]

Why do I get the feeling this is something that's copying Yu-Gi-Oh! ? *Shakes head*

I prefer yugioh to be honest

34 Name: Evoluder : 2014-03-04 10:54 ID:dbS7c1qs [Del]

>>32 You have quite a bit to learn about Vanguard then if you think it's just copying Yu-Gi-Oh. While I like both, Vanguard is quickly becoming the more favorite.

Oh how I loved this game...

36 Name: Vexkin : 2014-08-28 07:12 ID:5nv7c6Mv [Del]

I seriously love this game, but Magic The Gathering is my favorite. And yugioh has become super weird they keep adding weird rules and new stuff. But Vanguard is a great growing TCG.

My friend was the one who introduced me to Cardfight! Vanguard and I have to say, it was the first time I have played a card game without being confused ^^ I am a Royal Paladin user and I also have the Gold Paladins and Oracle Think Tank deck. Most of the cards I have are given to me by my friends.

From the OP: 'the cards are not cheap.'

If you think this is an expensive game, never get in to Yugioh or MTG, Vanguard is probaly the cheapest card game I've played.
