Dissidia Final Fantasy: Who is the strongest? (20)

1 Name: Next The Square : 2012-05-05 05:51 ID:V7GlKbSC [Del]

One thing that I have always wondered is who would you place as the stongest and then the weakest Final Fantasy character on Cosmos' side. Just take out all of your favoritism bias and compare them soley on skill and power. Here is my list strongest to weakest:
1- Terra Bradford (She is practically the embodiment of magic power)
2- Onion Knight (He can use all of the job classes and is the most skilled. He isn't just your jack of all trades, he is just the master of everything)
3- Warrior of Light (He is destined to destroy Chaos and he does in Final Fantasy 1. Not to mention he is the perfect maniken)
4- Tidus (No fan bias on this one. It's just that he can win fights with Jecht one-on-one, and you can see clearly that even the mighty soon to be Chaos Garland is intimidated by Jecht's power. Not only that, but speed is a great factor to have, and he has shown to be strong and has time magic to boot)
5- Zidane Tribal (He is the experiment after Kuja given the powers to be an Angel of Death. Simply put, he is designed to end the world. He is strongly like Goku after all)
6- Firion (Honestly this guy is ready for anything. Weapons expert and can be a great magic user in the actual Final Fantasy II)
7- Cecil Harvey (Light and darkness man. Makes him formidable and unpredictable as well. Adaptable too)
8- Bartz Klauser (Come on guys, he is a mimic. He can copy anyone's weapons, making him super adaptable. It doens't necessariy mean he can master them all, but heck his even skinnier arms can hold a Gunblade and a Buster Sword)
9- Squall Leonhart (Tied up with Cloud. Only thing that makes Squall slightly different. He doesn't need to rely on rocks to use magic. Plus, a close range weapon that could act as a long range is pretty handy)
10- Cloud Strife (Please don't get mad at me for this one. I love Cloud as much as the next guy, but in the end he is a guy that just throws around a giant sword and can use no magic on his own will without the help of said materia. Sure he must be strong to use such a heavy sword, but strength isn't always enough)

Strangely enough I don't believe Squall's gunblade has the ability to fire long-range attacks. Instead of firing bullets out of some strange possibly hidden barrel, I think it holds blank shells. I've looked at the Revolver quite a bit, and there is literally no way to fit a gun barrel on that sword that would make sense with the type of gun it's based off of, which is a Colt single-action six-shooter. You cock it, you pull the trigger, you fire, and the RECOIL is what is utilized to create the interesting methods of attack Squall has. The explosions state that what he might be "firing" is simple fire magic, just enough to create a small explosion, but it's unlikely that he's firing real bullets.

I'd state my list of who is strongest but I'm unbiased. I think they're all even in their own ways.

I am pretty sure Sipher or however his name is spelled, SHOT bullets out of his Gunblade at someone in Final Fantasy 8. Go play it from start, to finish, to see.

>>2 Poking logic in a final fantasy game. da fuq are you thinking.

logically thinking (in terms of final fantasy, not real life) though, it MIGHT be possible to have a gun barrel inside of the sword, with the blade forged around it, but i dunno.

Warrior of light because he's a "paragon"

Additionally, because although none of the evils may be overtly scared of him.. He did in fact defeat chaos, which essentially warped reality to its own ends.

>>4 You kind of sound like Spoony in his FF8 review

>>3 Seifer

7 Name: Kyoshiro : 2012-05-08 19:56 ID:NF+kmrDb [Del]

it's probably the Warrior of Light, he is like the most heroic soul from all games, but in terms of strenght and battle abillity, i would have to say Cloud, I mean, it's not only because he's like the favorite from the masses, but he's the only one able to defeat Sephiroth (something not even WoL could do, it's said in the 013) just my opinion anyway =|

My best character right now is either sephiroth or lightning. kefka is 3rd in that list and followed by that is kain.

See, that's where it gets confusing. I don't think Sephiroth is the stongest villain, however, wouldn't WOL not being able to beat Sphiroth mean Sephiroth would be stronger that Chaos? I find that very hard to believe since Warrior of Light is supposed to beat Chaos.
Which is why I am just comfortable saying Jech tis the stongest bar nun.

Squall is pretty bamf.

Well, in Final Fantasy terms, they fire magic, plain and simple. And the reason I was applying logic was due to the fact that it could theoretically be possible to actually make Gunblades like that.

My personal best characters would have to be, at least right now, Kain/Firion (those two are tied), Golbez, Warrior of Light, Zidane, and Cloud. Zidane comes a bit more naturally to me, but with all the effort I wound up putting into Cloud he turned into my best.

Also, again with the gunblade logic, I know, I do that. It could be possible to forge a blade around a gun barrel, but it doesn't quite work with Squall's weapon, the Revolver, in particular. Why? It's because the gun portion of the blade just doesn't work with that kind of barrel. It's called the Revolver because it's based on the original Colt single-action revolver, like the magnums used in the "old west". They were very well balanced and had one hell of a recoil, which is where all of Squall's jerky movements in Dissidia comes into play. He's utilizing the recoil to add a bit of unpredictability to his movements. However putting a heavy blade on something with such a kick to it is hell on the user's arm if they're not a specialist, which is why said specialists are so rare.

OK, wall o text over.

If I had to go by things other than my personal best characters to say who is the strongest character in Dissidia, I'd have to say it's a toss-up between two characters.

Sephiroth and Jecht. Sephiroth was a legendary hero, not for his intelligence, but for his fighting ability, which is what we're comparing. And even Garland was somewhat in awe of Jecht's power, and the Emperor took full advantage of the chance to have him on his own side, so there's something to be said about that guy.

Jecht. I've used the Jecht block to block the "unblockable" move Soul of Oblivion that Chaos uses. It blocks HP and bravery attacks and can be chained into HP and one hell of a bravery combo.

>>2 >>12 Actually, the Revolver is made not to fire bullets, but instead it has blank shells. The way the Gunblade works is it actually acts like a chainsaw. When the trigger is pulled, the round is struck, and the vibrations hit the blade, making it vibrate at a high speed. Squall, or Leon as I call him, actually fires the Gunblade to make it vibrate, but using fire magic to give off the illusion that the gun part actually functions. Makes sense now?

And YES people, I just punched a HUGE hole in how the Gunblade works, one of my friends is Final Fantasy fan.

15 Name: TallFry : 2012-06-04 16:20 ID:bXJCEZTP [Del]

>>14 lol I had already theorized that it fired blank shells from a realistic standpoint. Utilizing that vibration and the recoil that comes from the gun function. What you've said makes a whole lot of sense.

It's a pretty interesting weapon, I just hadn't fully explained my reasoning behind it not actually firing bullets due to not wanting to annoy people. Another reason behind the "explosions" that come out could be the fact that even blank shells still utilize gunpowder. It's still igniting the gunpowder, and it's still creating that little explosion, the blade could just be very resistant to fire. However the fire magic theory makes more sense, otherwise the blade would be really badly scorched.

How did my thread go fom who do you think is the strongest to the mechanics of a gunblade? I don't have a problem with it, it's just...

17 Name: Crisis !JjfHYEcdHQ : 2012-06-04 20:23 ID:Q4xSpalz [Del]

Of course no all gunblades work like that. Weiss had two gunblades that actually had a gun functionality.

18 Name: Thiamor !yZIDc0XLZY : 2012-06-04 21:54 ID:mdz6sVe5 [Del]

>>17
I wonder if it counts, if it's not even remotely related to Final Fantasy 8 Gunblades?

Since that is the type that we're talking about.

Weiss' Gunblade looks a bit tacky, like someone duct taped a Shotgun to a sword, then placed a Cross-Guard around the two.

19 Name: TallFry : 2012-06-05 23:52 ID:bXJCEZTP [Del]

You know, strangely enough, I kinda suck with Jecht, but that's only in Action style. In RPG mode, where I can just prompt him and then let him do his own thing, he's a freaking monster, I just have to strategize, and with that mode I can do that part just a tiny bit better. Either way the guy's freakin awesome and fun to play as in either mode.
