RuneScape features a character-customisation system. Unlike many MMORPGs, characters are always human; however, players may choose the gender, hairstyle, body type, facial features, skin colour, and clothing options. Appearance is further complemented by wearing or wielding items. Players can express emotions through the use of specialised animations called emotes, some of which are standard and others earned through gameplay or released during holiday events. Standard weapons of the same class, such as swords, use the same set of animations in combat, while special weapons have their own, distinctive animations.

Players can interact with each other through trading, chatting, or by participating in mini-games and activities, some of which are competitive or combative in nature, while others require cooperative or collaborative play. Players can trade items and gold coins with each other, either through a face-to-face trade, or by using a large automated marketplace known as the Grand Exchange.

after i played skyrim, I went on runescape and dropped about 1 billion coins worth of items. last time i ever play runescape

still play it. been playin since 05. never been a member

It's a shame how much Jagex has been unnecessarily tweaking with the game recently, big drop in players.

Game has died.
I played since early 2005 and now it just sucks with 7-year-old's raging, people who do terrible job at scams and very childish game play now.

Runecape is a good intro to MMOs for kids. It's got a great leveling system, so much freedom to dick around, etc.

But that's all it is. An intro to MMOs that's meant for younger crowds. You learn from it and you either move out of MMOs, or you move onto into more mature and detailed ones. It's a classic staple in the progession of an MMO players online experience that millions of people can remember fondly as being their 'first'.

But, like with sex, your first is memorable because it was the first. Not because it was amazing.

At my high school people still play runescape... One of my friends whines about how he wishes he had enough money to get a premium membership... He is more of a noob than I am.

I'm in Highschool and I still have an account on there. Now do I play it nearly as often? No. Last time I touched it is when I got my Laptop last year, and that was only for maybe an hour. I can't get back into it, but make fleeting trips. Same with Ragnarok Online. I go back every now and again, but thats it.

I just got back on last week. They changed the plotline from when I originally played it back in Middle to High School. They even give you a week-long trial playing as a member.

i'm a senior in college and been playin since early 05 as well. evolution of combat sucks kinda but also ok at times. however the game as a whole has gone downhill. no more random events at all like evil bob, rick turpentine, sandwich lady, random swarms, evil trees. and the holiday events now r just competitions, nothing that fun. and finally the quests. they re-did rune mysteries, doric's quest, and the prince ali rescue. personally i liked them better the old way. and y does wilderness have to be gone. it's called wilderness for a reason. make it risky and scary again. i loved pk trips back in the day.

it just depends on what ur doin. quests can help u gain lvls pretty quick sometimes. otherwise dungeoneering does good too. also for those who do play, who's in the phoenix gang?

yea back in 06 durial321 killed a ton of people by abusing a glitch in a player owned house making anywhere like wildy for him. lol i lost soo much i kept coming back :P but he got a hugeee lawsuit from jagex and perma perma banned his ip adress

Honestly the game has gotten worst with the new combat update, they made the game to easy to predict. as well as adding special moves it just removes the fun way to easy and they tell you the enemies weakness.

Ever been in the general store? I used to shop there, until I took a Grand Exchange to the knee. That thing killed the general stores.

The Grand Exchange is quite useful for plenty of things the general store could never do. I rather type something in and buy it straight away rather than waiting days to get what I wanted.

This game isn't brilliant anymore, but seriously it was my first online game of this nature.

This game used to be really good a few years ago but I stopped playing for two months, came back and there were about a billion new features I didn't know about. so confusing so I stopped playing

there's a website where the old rune scape is. I heard it was made by the same people who made the modern rune scape because there was a lot of haters of the new version of combat

How to make money for a former member who currently has an over-full bank (have to dump some stuff to make use of it again in f2p) and only members armour and weapons, along with minimal cash, could sell my rune cane if necessary. Haven’t played in years and I don’t want to buy a membership rn, but I want to at least get some money and equipment on this account, for nostalgias sake after I quit in a fit of post-getting-scammed rage
