Seriously, why would they make a part two?? At least remake Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald e.e

I'm sorry, but I think pokemon has seriously went downhill with black and white.

>>2 Black and White was fabulous, what are you talking about"

Besides, why would they make a B&W 2? Nintendo would make another color, they've never made sequels for pokemon before.

Aaand, I'm sure this could've gone on the Pokemans thread.

4 Name: Seika Chugo !!dZlEviJU : 2012-03-25 12:02 ID:rbeaU2wp [Del]

Why? Well why not? Pokemon is already treading new grounds; they've got a Fire Emblem type Pokemon game coming out too.
I'm very curious how they're gonna play the sequels.

But Pokemon's always been branching in different directions, take a look at Pokemon Snap or Pokepark, or even the Pokewalkers and toys they release.

And I liked Black and White much more than Diamond and Pearl. SO I'd say they're improving.
Nothing can beat the original 151 and Crystal though. Crystal is the best.

>>3 Well I'm not sure, this could end up the official Black and White 2 thread since one will be made eventually by somebody.
Who knows, the game itself might be revolutionary enough to need it's own thread.
I do think it can hold its own discussion though since Pokemon has never had a sequel before.

Would you be playing as the same boy/girl? Would there be any new pokemon? Would be cool to play as N.

There better be some more extensive routes in this, particularly after the game is beaten. I whizzed through all I could in Black in just a few days.

And Pokemon Gray sounds lame.

They should make the storyline of newer games much longer. Grinding to level up has been a tradition within these games but a slight tweek to this might bring the game to new heights. It seems as if the company just wants to milk as much $$$ out of the Pokemon franchise as much as possible.

The Sapphire/ Ruby series was the beginning of the 'new' and 'tech advanced' era of pokemon. Ever since that, everything went downhill...

Nevertheless, Nintendo... JUST TAKE MY MONEY

i personally dont know how they're going to work in this B&W2 business, i just assumed they'd come out with grey version and be good, but i am a bit curious. to address the whole downhill pokemon thing...

i love the first 2 generations, never really played gen 3, so i can't comment on that, gen 4 was pretty bleh. Black and White though...I have a sort of renewed faith in the series after it. sure, some of the pokemon were just flat out dumb (vanillish and trubbish. need i say more?) and i WAS initially annoyed that there were no non-gen 5 pokemon available until AFTER you finished the main story, but therein lies where gen 5 is set apart form the others. In B&W, you were forced to use nothing but the new pokemon, and for a while it was annoying, but after a few hours, you really began to sort of appreciate each new pokemon for what they brought to your team. you had to rely on them, you couldn't just go out and catch one of the older generation pokemon and make your team consist of nothing but old pokemon with 1 or 2 new ones mixed in, and i kind of ended up enjoying that. But what really set it apart from all of the other games, i dare say even generation 1 and 2, is the story.

When the game begins, it seems to be "just another pokemon game". Boy/Girl meets pokemon at age 10, assumes they're in love for life and runs away from home to be with the one they love (lulz).so they set out on their adventure to be the best motherfucking poemon trainer in the....country for the moment. BUT OH WAIT! there's a team of evil madmen out to steal everyone's pokemon and eventually want to destroy the world or some shit. cliche cliche cliche. you guys know how it goes. however, with team plasma, i feel like they ended up doing somethign that they did not do with any other douchebag team from the other games. MADE THEM AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE STORY. i mean, in the other games, team rocket was just going around being douchebags, and ended up being whooped by 2 different 10 year olds. magma and aqua set out to....mess up the continent i guess, but end up failing. the comes galactic who ARE GOING TO RIP THE FABRIC OF TIME AND SPACE TO FUCK SHIT UP HOLYFUCKINGSHITBALLSWHATTHEFUCKAREWEGOIGNTODO?!? but....no one cares. they're the first team to really like try to destroy the world, btu they seem to just be a side nuisance the main character has to deal with in order to get them to shut up so he/she can get back to trying to become cool. none of these guys are taken too seriously and not very many people seem to care that they are gone or really recognize that the main character is cool for taking down crime syndicates.

in comes team plasma. The new brand of pokemon villian. they start out by parading around town. being generally disruptive, threatening to steal pokemon and, you know, being typical. but then you discover WHY they are doing this. they are not doing it just to be douchebags (well, a few of them are, but that doesn't show until the end and is beside the point) they're doing it because they believe it is in the best interest of the pokemon. They are the police, coming to bust all these assholes who have been forcing all these underage minors to participate in underground animal fights and are trying to send them to new, loving homes. But of course, this doesnt sit well with people because technically this shit is legal, but PETA...i mean team plasma, is not going to give two shits about it. The idea behind plasma and N make it so that you can't really define them as "bad guys", which fits into the idea in real life that there is no good or evil, just conflicting viewpoints. in the end, they don't take backseat to the pokemon league. fuck no. the last fight is between the main character and N, the two poster people of these views engaging in deadly mortal combat. with the main character winning in the end of course (unless you sucked. jk). but WAIT! there is a villian! there was a douchebag working for personal gain...so you kick his ass and hand hima nd his affiliates over to the police. but then N is still there...almost broken. his view is just as valid as ever, yet everything else that he has known has been proven to be false. The man that essentially raised him turned out to be a scumbag douche that was using him even when he was a child, yet he still has those views that were instilled in him when he was a child. he is still a person who believes in his morals. he has become, at least in his own mind, a sort of fallen hero. and so he sets off into the sunset on his dragon, who is essentially the embodiment of his beliefs, into the sunset to ponder what is to become of him. THAT is a good story, and a much better way to approach the "villian" of a game.

>>13 I have to say I agree with you on all aspects. The things that made Black and White appealing as opposed to other games were how it wasn't afraid to take the experience in new directions. Yeah, some of my friends keep saying it's stupid that you can't have older gens at first, but not only were they showing that they'd made a whole new region full of brand new Pokemon to the point where you'd see a new one at every turn, but these Pokemon all had something different about them that kinda made you like them even if they were pretty stupid. My Vanilluxe is proof of that.

Another thing that really set it apart, as you explained so well, was the story.

IT HAD ONE

Seriously, every other Pokemon game is pretty much go beat gyms, fight the badguys maybe five times, become champion by pwning elite 4, w00t, game over, fill Pokedex and move onto next game. In Black and White... well, I don't think I have to go into detail, you already said it for me.

That's what makes Black and White 2 so appealing, at least to me. It's going to expand on that story. Why make the same thing over and over when you can add something completely new to the mix? Why tell the same tale with a different legendary Pokemon when there's so many twists and turns the story could take? The possibilities are endless, and I want to see just where they went with them.

Needless to say I'll be getting White 2 (since I started with White and I want a freakin Reshiram) as soon as I can.

Personally I'll never understand genwunners. Anyway, instead of complaining about newer games, I try to pick out what I like about each.
Red and Blue was the first and started it all.
Gold and Silver gave that sort of traditional and spiritual Japanese charm such as the towers and Kimono Girls.
Ruby and Sapphire was very adventurous numerous enviroments and was very visually appealing.
Diamond and Pearl had a sort of mysterious feel to it. Also, the way I'm not going to lie, the region was very cool.
Black and White had an amazing story. Gym Leaders were part of the story. Not to mention the two year continuation. New idea for a team as well as several twists. Also, Samurott. Enough said. The only problem with Black and White was it was short and very linear. Literally straight from town to town in a row. No towns combo broke all eight gyms.

whats the problem with it? i really thought that it was good, after all i thought that Black and White was supposed to be like a fresh new start with Pokemon. so continuing the story sounds cool. also the idea of a Ruby, sapphire remake would be great since it was Ruby and sapphire that got me hooked on pokemon in the first place

"the idea of a Ruby, sapphire remake would be great since it was Ruby and sapphire that got me hooked on pokemon in the first place"

Couldn't agree more. I would probably be more interested in that than the Black and White sequels, though I'll still get one anyway. There are supposedly tons of changes from the original two.

but black and white it went downhill

32 Name: Next The Square : 2012-06-05 14:25 ID:V7GlKbSC [Del]

Why does everybody think it went downhill around Black and White? Is it too much that they finally decided to do something different? Is it the new Pokemon. Last I checked, gameplay was great, it had a good story to make it an already decent adventure game. All that is left is the graphics and personally they were really good.

>>33
I don't think it is wise to go about making games on nostalgia. The world changes and so should Pokemon. Like the Pokemon the games themselves evolve. Personally, I love all Pokemon games and you have to remember, what may not be nostalgic to you will be nostagic to the five year olds of today in the 5th Generation. Don't take that from them. If they really like Pokemon that much then naturally they'll fall back to their roots and play the older games.

37 Name: AlexisTheory : 2012-06-08 09:56 ID:rbuUTLYZ [Del]

While I'd love a Ruby/Sapphire remake, they're less necessary than the remakes of Gen 1/2 games because of the PalPark feature. All your Ruby/Sapphire Pokemon can be pulled up into the newer games; the R/B/Y/G/S/C Pokemon can't.

Black 2/White 2 is actually a much better way, in my opinion, to go about making a "third" installation in the series. Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum all built upon the plots of their initial two counterparts. Black 2/White 2 does just that, but in a much more original way that will keep the attention of fans everywhere. Honestly, I think Nintendo is trying to cater to an older audience now with these games; the increase in plot complexity is just one indicator of that.

I still find it stupid you can capture the most powerful thing in existence. I mean, it can smite you in a heartbeat, it's essentially god :I

i got White 2 yesterday (imported it) and have been playing it mostly non stop. its so much better than B/W. the mix of older gen pokemon at the beginning makes it so much better and easier. also the new towns are pretty cool. im only at the second gym (did a fair amount of grinding) but the new stuff i have found out is really cool. i really like how they added achievements to the game (medals you get for doing certain things ex beating gym leaders, catching certain pokemon, ect.) even though i cant understand a word/symbol of japanese i am still greatly enjoying this game.
