Last I heard they were in the process of making a Final Fantasy VII remake. They have to remake everything from scratch(graphics, music, expressions and scenes, etc.), so it's no surprise it's taking so long.
Not to mention the HD remaster of FFX and the Kingdom Hearts titles among many others that are being worked on as well, set it back even further.

Also, knowing that it's Squeenix; it's only going to be for one system which is most likely a Sony system. I'm gonna guess PS3 or the generation after it (PS4 or whatever the name is) since the game was originally for the PS2.

They don't have to remake everything from scratch. That is why they were waiting till they could get the original team back together. To REMASTER the music, and just go over the already saved files. With the original team, it'd be easier, faster, and over all better.

>>3 Well, yes; but the animation for the most part has to be remade; not sure coding wise; but the scenes, character models, the maps, everything you could potentially interact with; Those are alot of textures, models and animation.
While the music itself yeah, is just a remaster/remix/whatever, just updating; most everything visual-wise they have to add alot to as well as getting it up from the blocky graphics and lower quality music it's at to something on the PS3 like the more recent Final Fantasys.

I should've said "remake most everything from scratch" since alot of it does need to be remade. (hence it being a remake and not a remaster, like they're doing with FFX and the texture/model updates). Not sure coding wise, but I'm sure some of that will need to be remade/updated as well.

Also, it's really cool they're getting the original team back together. Not many companies do that. Plus, who knows, they might add a few side things that were in development back when the original came out, which would be neat since they know what they're doing.

I've been hearing rumors of a remake for as long as I can remember. Though Square Enix has stated again and again that they won't be giving this title a reboot, I'm fairly optimistic. However, they are remaking, literally, every other game before they tackle VII. Last I heard they were remaking VIII.

I love 8. I know I'd play that one, for sure.

>>5 For reals?
I have VIII for the computer, but it won't save for some odd reason >:I

I'm glad they're remaking the titles though, for the simple reason, that I can't afford $70-$90 for a PS1 title, or any single game, for that matter. I don't have that kinda money to throw around.

FFX remaster was a little shocking though. Thats the last one I thought they'd do anything with. I love it to pieces, but it was unexpected. (Can't wait eitherway; buying both PS3 and Vita versions).

>>8 No, I mean the PC version they released.
I probably have the wrong operating system or something since it's so old. Though it doesn't have an instruction booklet and didn't come with anything that can help at all.
Just the installation disc and the 4 playable discs.

Yeah, it's for Windows 95/98
But like, it plays fine; the only thing that doesn't work is saving :I
No problems with Chocobo World whatsoever, it's just the game itself.

Actually some re-googling got me this http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090804173358AABxfb3
Maybe it'll help you, Feral?

I can't download it/re-install the game until I get my computer fixed :/

Hell, you should look up the 2D Remake of Final Fantasy 7 on RPG Maker by Vanit. It's going to be an exact remake in terms of functions, story, the script, and music and such. But in 2D and easier for people to download and use. It's pretty fucking wild, if you ask me.

>>17 I...what?
That was incredibly hard to read. Do you mind using punctuation and correct spelling? Or at least the right words? (I'm looking at 'wine' here.)

On the topic, they've remade quite a few really old games; first that comes to mind are Chrono Trigger and LOZ Ocarina of Time. I don't think the system itself has anything to do with it.

21 Name: Thiamor !yZIDc0XLZY : 2012-03-22 17:56 ID:4jlksheK [Del]

>>20

That isn't a remake, it's just a port to another system. That is totally irrelevant to this topic about an actual remake.

>>21 Is it?
Sorry, I'd hadn't played either before or after.
I plan to play Ocarina of Time; but all I've heard about them is that they were remakes. :/

23 Name: Seika Chugo !!dZlEviJU : 2012-03-22 19:38 ID:rbeaU2wp [Del]

>>21 And wait, what one? Ocarina of Time or Chrono Trigger?

24 Name: Thiamor !yZIDc0XLZY : 2012-03-22 19:41 ID:4jlksheK [Del]

Chrono Trigger itself is just a ported game. They never actually did a remake of it.

Not quite sure about the other.

25 Name: Thiamor !yZIDc0XLZY : 2012-03-22 19:42 ID:4jlksheK [Del]

I've played Ocarina of time, but I don't know if it was ever actually remade.

>>25 It's for the 3DS, and I heard it was a remake.

Huh. Didn't they add stuff that the original fans didn't like?
Well, the more you know :/

27 Name: Thiamor !yZIDc0XLZY : 2012-03-23 21:19 ID:C8MAJyfL [Del]

Well they did do another port over that had only an extra fight. Which really isn't much of a remake.
