The Fatal frame series; known as Project Zero in Japan, is a collection of survival horror videogames.

The first in the series revolves around 17 year old Miku Hanasaki's search for her older brother Mafuyu, in the haunted Himuro Mansion. Her only protection; a camera passed down her family line that can exorcise encountered spirits. During her search, she becomes cursed by the last Rope Shrine Maiden, who had been torn apart in the Strangling Ritual which takes place every 10 or so years. Miku now has to find a way to reverse the curse, before all 5 of the rope marks appear on her limbs, and she is swallowed up by the darkness.

Fatal Frame 2:Crimson Butterfly; follows the story of twins Mio and Mayu Amakura, who, when visiting a childhood home follow a mysterious crimson butterfly into the forest and to an old, seemingly abandoned village. Unfortunately for them, the village isn't abandoned, but inhabited by spirits, and Mayu soon falls under a spell and leads Mio deeper and deeper into the village.
Soon, they learn of the Crimson Sacrifice Ritual in which a pair of twins in lured into the village, and the elder sibling strangles the younger to keep the Hellish Abyss, a hole filled with the souls of the dead, sealed.
FF2 has four potential endings, one of which was added onto the Xbox version.

Fatal Frame III: The Tormented; Miku returns as she is being plaqued by yet another curse; the same curse 23 year old Rei Kurosawa and Kei Amakura are suffering, involving the Manor of Sleep and a tattoo like bruise which spreads the more the Manor is dreampt about.
