>>6 eh. i still dont think its cool to use current gen emulators like that, because they still do make the money for the consoles themselves, not only that, but i was in a more software state of mind. I'm totally open to old school emulation though
>>5 Again, i was more in a software state of mind, so i apologize if the followinf rant doesn't quite mean anything because we're not on the same page but...
i'm sure that everyone gets a set ammount of money off the...wait.
1)your explination on how they do not get ripped off makes no sense
2) how the fuck are they making money off of a game they aren't actually GETTING ANY MONEY FOR?
maybe the DEVELOPERS get checks from the companies for a set ammount and then it's the companies that get the extra money made from sales, in which case i wouldnt mind THEM being ripped off as much, but if they cut from how much they pay the DEVS due to sales, that blows, and if they dont get enough sales from the game, then the companies dont want to work with the devs again. any way you look at it, the devs get screwed.
Besides, do you know how SHIITY it feels when you work for YEARS on a project, just so that you can watch some asshole go and steal it (again. assuming that we are talking about game isos and not just consoles.)? I mean, with old school games, it's different. i'd wager that 99.9% all sales for old games go to the stores that sell them and not to the developers or companies that made them, sure in hindsight, helping out the businesses that are selling them would be cool, but they buy the games dirt cheap and then sell them for about the price of a used newer game. it's sort of like a scam. this being said, if i were an old school developer not making any money off of what i made, i would be like "hell yeah, people still want to download and play that game we made all those years ago" and then procede to have a warm, fuzzy feeling in my heart.
