It is ridiculously stupid with all these hidden things in it aimed at making you lose and frustrate you.

wait... are you talking about the area that has the shelled cat head n the 3 boxs in a row? Just jump on top of them over the area. If your talking about the spot that has the invisble boxes, theres an invisible one above the second step you have to hit to jump over the gap

You beat level one by jumping OVER the flagpole at the end and then going back into it. That way the ghost missed you.
