My friends and I adore this game, it's our one and only party game. I've made like 65 levels lolol

I main Ike, loads of fun lol. I've never touched online play, however.

I love the smash bros. games, but playing against the bots gets annoying after a while. I don't play with other people because for some reason no one likes to use items. I see Smash Bros. games as a cartoony diversion, not a serious fighting game, and when I go to cons and see all those "Stop Having Fun Guys" hanging about... I tend not to play Smash Bros. at all because of that.

If I could find a group of people that I could play against the way Smash Bros. was meant to be played I think I'd play it more often.

Well, since finals are over, I will usually be available weekday nights, from around 10-10:30pm to 1 am, Pacific Standard Time. (I live in CA) I can also be available during some weekends. I'll add you when I get the chance to.

The reason people play without items is because items are such a random element to the game that if an item spawns closer to you, or if a specific item spawns at the right time, it could cost someone the match.

Competitive tourny players want as level a playing ground as possible, which is why they don't allow items, and allow only certain stages to be selected.

Also, the online for this game has gotten better due to the massive drop in online population. So games are less laggy. Still not the perfect thing, but it is better.

Well, different players enjoy the game in different ways. I myself play by the Unity ruleset most commonly found in US/Canadian tournies.
I just find that the game is more fun when you are trying to play mindgames with your opponent, and knowing that the match you are playing showcases your skill compared to your opponent. Plus, some matches become really intense, which leaves you satisfied with the win.

this game is very enjoyable 2 play. i normally like playing as Kirby or any of the Pokemon characters.(though Link and Zelda r pretty good 2)

Smash Bros is a great game. To me, it seems like more of a fun group game to play. Its really a game of skill and strategy. Most of the characters are similar in power but with some differences. You can own with any character I'd say. Go Link

Ike, Marth, Wolf, Fox, and ToonLink FTW. Personally, I think Ike is the best character choice for me even though he lacks speed and agility, and his Up+B sucks, but his strengh makes up for it. Ike and I are unstoppable, we can probably control all of Brawl! BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA AH AH HA HA HA!!!!n Oops, got carried away there. ^^:

Ah, Smash Bros. I do love my Brawl so, but I haven't played it as much since I've done... well a lot. Either way, I prefer to play with people, be it online with friends or with them in person. Among the vast number of players I know I have to say I'm the second best, as one person happens to be able to beat me any time.
I main Ike, Yoshi, Link, Zelda, Toon Link, Pikachu, Fox, Wolf, and... well the only character I really suck with is King Dedede.

I freaking love this game.

He, SSBB is such a great classic game, by classic I guess I mean the fact that I can remember playing on game cube (do they even exist anymore?) when I was about three or something. Link and Kirby are totally the best ;p

There are only two characters I'll play with. Link and Wolf.

So, as one who has given a complete tutorial on Brawl from memory alone, I'm gonna say this.
Ike is my main character and I'm sure of one thing. He's not entirely about power. Yes, he hits hard, but he has some of the longer windups in the game when it comes to his moves. He takes longer to hit, so his real strategy is all about timing. After all, if you can't HIT the enemy then all that power is wasted.

In this game I AM GOD! My mains are Fox, Captain Faclon, Jigglypuff and Shiek. Especially Shiek . . . My wavedashing is ever so perfect =) I do play this game a hell of a lot with my friends at least every other day.

For some reason, I can only play well with Fox.

I love being Jigglypuff, my best character of all.

Fuckin' love this game. I played in a tournament in boston at PAX east gaming convention. I did fairly well. But the tournament dragged on too late and I had to drive all the back to NH so I dropped out early =(

I played Brawl for the first time in ages at Mechacon. Am I seriously the only person who ever plays with the Wiimote and Nunchuck? I had to play on a gamecube controller and I kept forgetting how to jump.

When I actually have a controller I know, I'm best with Marth, Pokemon Trainer, and Toon Link. Fond memories of getting the smash ball four times and Triple Finishing my enemies to death :Db (As an aside, it's hard to find a group that'll play the game it's meant to be played - I'm quite adept at chucking items at people who are flying towards me. Nothing quite says stfu like a sticky bomb to the face!)

As a Melee veteran, I'm most comfortable smashing with the Gamecube controller. It just comes more naturally to me. Also, I only know one person who actively wants to play with me, but other than him everyone else I play with prefers to play it the way it was meant to be played. And the STFU thing works. If not a sticky bomb, then a Bob-bomb. Always fun to make people explode.

I love SSB. I want to get the new one, but I'd have to get a Wii U, and I don't think I need another console, let alone the Wii U. It's still awesome, though.

I love SSB Brawl. I had a lot of fun with it and I love the whole ensemble of characters. IDK if I will get the new one though I do have a 3DS. It'd be nice to include new and past characters instead of excluding some.

The multiplayer never works for me. Every time I try to connect to a game, I connect and choose my character but then I get disconnected out of no where. But I still love the game. I play it with my girlfriend and my sister a lot.

Anyone else play Project: M?

Project: M is a mod for SSBB that changes the mechanics of the game to be more like Melee. It tries to make it a more skill based game, and it brings back techniques like teching, wave dashing, etc. It is widely used for tournaments, much more so than Brawl, because of this skill-based edit. It also changes the move sets of most characters, some quite drastically. It's well worth checking out.

I am trying to play Project: M with a WiiMote, because I am too cheap to buy a Gamecube controller.

This is not going well so far.

I finally got a Gamecube controller and am now attempting to main Roy.

I can't get the L-cancels down very consistently, though. It's tough.

Oh man, some of my friends play professionally i tournaments for this game. Needless to say our game nights always end with me getting my ass kicked by them.

I was hoping for a tier system that made certain characters easy to pick up and use, (because of techniques that do not take a lot of skill to perform) but limited benefits from these techniques against more skilled opponents. These characters would have a very low tech ceiling; highly skilled players would not be a lot better than new players with the same character. Then, the next tier up would have harder techniques, and a higher tech ceiling, but still not high enough to beat an opponent using a character with a higher tech ceiling, one that is able to respond to vast technical skill. This would continue until the top tier, where each character is balanced in power and ability, and each has an almost unlimited potential for response to extremely honed technical skill.

Probably will end up being Robin = OP as hell, but that's my idea anyway.

I've started playing Melee. I came from Brawl, so it's a little bit of a curve. I don't know which character to play, though.

RollyPolly... Try Link, Mario, DK, or any of the main startup lineup from the original Smash Bros. They tend to be the most stable for starters-- which is why they can be OP too.

Jigglypuff & Ganondorf are among my recommendations simply because they're my favourite characters, Ganondorf's slow as hell, but his Down+B is surprisingly instantaneous, & Jigglypuff has the added bonus that everyone always underestimates her XD You might be impressed by how good rollout is in Melee too, having come from Brawl.

Even Wolf O'Donnell is in it. He hates Fox McCloud.

Angel Ring, the spinning bow thing, isn't in SSB4. It's been replaced by the Upperdash Arm from Uprising.

I've been playing a lot of P:M and I'm getting destroyed by Mario. Those fireballs! That cape! Those low-percent combos! I can't seem to do much against him.

when i was younger i had a friend and we'd sit for hours and play brawl 2 or 3 times a week. these days, whenever we play (not as often anymore) we go 3 or 4 min. without eaither of us landing a hit. also, now no one but her can beat me.

I can't remember everything but I'm pretty sure there are also Kamina, Spiro, Mr. L, Dry Bowser, Digimon, Robert Downey Jr.and Woody from Toy Story skins. This could be from an outdated version though, as the developers are constantly adding on and changing move sets, skins, stages and battle mechanics. In the version I've played, if you held R while picking Bowser, you could play that round as giga Bowser, with his entire super move set.

I absolutely love Project M and Melee. I've been maining Marth and Lucario, assisting tournaments for a few months now and I can't tell you how passionate I am for Smash Bros.

Paragon was so good! Probably the best tourney of the year. Mew2king's melee sets vs Hungrybox and Mang0 were so intense, and the 13 y/o prodigy Mr.Lz taking the Project M tourney over Oracle was amazing.

I like how they separated Samus and Zero suit Samus tbh. It was always a hassle for me in Brawl to have to hold 'z' on the gamecube controller just to play as her XD

I like playing Mewtwo. Sure he isn't fast or heavy, but the fact he can stun, reflect items, and have a pretty strong ranged attack helps me win with him. When I'm losing, I often win if I change to mewtwo

I played melee as a kid, but I first started teching in brawl. I mained snake for awhile, then went to link, back to snake, then used samus and got really good with her and her zero-suit form. I decided I'd switch it up again, and discovered marth. Though not as OP as in melee, teching marth the right way can deal some supreme damage. I went total apeshit on my friends whenever we decided to play. Also, like everyone, I have a pocket sheik. I also often use pikachu, and I went back to snake because I needed one power character, with a mid and a fast one. I don't particularly like smash 4, only because it doesn't have the teching that melee and brawl had, it's not fun to play competitively for me

Love the Smash Brothers series I've played all even all the wacky mods for Brawl and Melee. Currently I'm trying to get into the Project M competitive scene.
