this was my idea:

we will need 14+ people
8 for gym leaders(gym leaders must use 1 type of pokemon, like a normal gym but dual types are allowed on a team as long as it shares a type)
4 for elite four(1 type just like the elite for in the game)
1 champion (can use any pokemon but legendary pokemon)
1+ for trainers

rules for all:
NO WEATHER TEAMS!!!!!!!!
Excadril can be used but no sand support.
no ubers
trainers have to catch each pokemon they use like they do in game.

If you are interested leave a post below i think this would be cool.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but levels shouldn't matter, right? They get equalized to 50 anyway in 5th gen battles; the only difference made would be their EVs, which aren't level-dependant.

There shouldn't be a level limit because it doesn't matter, was my point. The only reason gym leaders had different levels in the game itself was to have a scaling difficulty level. One didn't have godly pokemon at the start, and they leveled up with the events of the story and the gyms themselves.

With this scenario, you're replacing that content with the gym fights alone. Plus there's the aforementioned fact that wifi battles push everything to level 50 anyway.

Lvls won't matter. On wifi all Pokemon get turned into Lvl. 50, so if your Pokemon are higher than that. It's okay.

Elite four mostly mono-type, one or two can be replaced with anything else you want.

Champion Can use any team,any types.

I overlooked that, I thought it was obvious...You can use Pokemon with 2 types it doesn't have to be Pure dark or pure flying. That's actually what makes it better this way your Pokemon are not all effected by Bug or fight by using like dark/fliying, dark/ghost etc. More variety, still mono-type.

I've been playing Soulsilver recently since I just now got it, but I've already gotten through most of the endgame in B/W, so I could at least start.

I stand by my previous statement (Fighting, Ghost, Fire), and add that I could take whatever's left. A hobby of mine is training pokemon I wouldn't normally train every new playthrough - it helps me appreciate different nuances of the game :V
So this would give me an excuse to use new ones.

...Though, ideally, if I could chose a type it would be "eevee," but that's dumb.

Another question. Does gym numbering matter a whole lot? In the games, it was done that way do give a progression for the same reason as the level disparity, but in this one it seems like most of them will be equal.

I'm a little iffy on how this is gonna be organized considering we don't really have space for separate gym threads or private messaging.

I actually have made some progress, though not enough - I have my eevee team basically ready, they're just not leveled up to 50 yet. Although, I don't have access to wifi consistently either. Actually, how about we redo the league? Since some members might have went inactive. And to be fair, let's just set the Standard(?) rules in the WiFi room, which cuts down all 50+ Pokemon levels to 50, and the Gym Leader/Elite Four ordering will be done through someone testing all the teams and rearranging them from weakest to strongest.

I always wanted to make a team like it, just needed a reason to do it. I don't know how effective they'll actually be in a serious match, of course, so I probably won't end up a high tier gym or anything if we do get this going. Also, I just remembered I haven't raised a Glaceon or Leafeon since I was using Soulsilver. Welp, got something to do.

The standard level rule sounds alright - I was kind of hoping we'd use that anyway. Playing with dynamic levels is fine in-game, but between players it creates weird advantages and disadvantages.

I was also thinking the gyms would be non-linear - like you wouldn't have to really go through them in order. The only reason the games were like that was, well, because of the levels. And to create a sense of progression. This thing is just kind of there for fun.

I don't mind if we go without ordering, too, but it's just strange. Alternatively we could just number ourselves at random and the challengers can battle any gym leaders at any time.
