Game Suggestions (53)

1 Name: Sleepology : 2011-12-01 21:03 ID:LpbjgHI4 [Del]

My apologies if this kind of thread has already been created, I did look for it in the graveyard.
Anyways, as people know, the holidays be coming up, i personally am celebrating creesmas, but alas, i know not what i want, and my father is requesting a creesmas list of me.

So i thought, maybe theres some epic games out there i should play.
If you would be so kind, tell me what you think i should get.
Side note: The types of games i dislike are fps, instrumentals, kinect-types, or kiddie games, excluding supermario types of stuff.
This pretty much can be any "relevant" consule, from n64 up.
Spam this board with all your might!

2 Name: Ayanavi : 2011-12-01 21:16 ID:8I4vKm1r [Del]

Prototype.
Dragon Age II (I love the low-fantasy setting)
Ar Tonelico II (Ar Tonelico is just a personal pleasure)
Devil May Cry 1/3 (Every other DMC Sucks, ignore 2 and 4)
Legend of Dragoon (classic PSX game)
Parasite Eve 1/2/ Third Birthday (birthday is for PSP)
Baroque (Wii Roguelike RPG - roguelikes are unforgiving.)
Demon/Dark Souls (the most unforgiving games on PS3)

I would suggest Vanquish, but it's a FPS. Of the absurd kind... Bullets fucking everywhere, rockets attached to your ass, constant use of bullet time, etc. I hate FPS, but Vanquish was fun.

And Prototype again. I can't stress enough how awesome it is to play a game where you feel just as unstoppable as the game makes you out to be - But yet it STILL manages to provide challenging enemies to bring you down to size.. While still keeping the feeling of being a walking force of nature.

It's just so awesome to do everything in that game. steal tanks, steal choppers, fly a chopper into another chopper and then ride both of them down ontop of a tank then pick up the tank and choppers and throw them at more tanks and choppers...

Get terminator armor and cut things to pieces with your hand, surf people from the top of the Chrysler building all the way to the ground and ride them across the pavement until they are fine bloody mist...

I have no end of praise for it.

lol thanks navi.
ive always wanted to get prototype but until yesterday i never had an id with my age on it/the acceptable age.

4 Name: Krakatoa!8NBuQ4l6uQ : 2011-12-01 22:51 ID:rItYZw5y [Del]

skyrim isnt really a fps but i suggest you try that

5 Name: Lt. Dodger : 2011-12-01 23:03 ID:7+Tt8vYG [Del]

Arkham City (dunno what it's about, but I heard it's really good)
Assassin's Creed: Revelations
Skyrim

That's about all I know that doesn't involve FPS. I tried not to search up too many games since I don't have the budget for them, lol.

6 Name: Kael : 2011-12-01 23:14 ID:C1K2AkHb [Del]

I definitely agree with Lt.Dodger, Skyrim is amaaaaaazing!! AC revelations is on my list too, and arkham city is really good, Its a batman game, Lt.. It basically plays like AC in gotham.

7 Name: Ayanavi : 2011-12-01 23:20 ID:ZTPmluP7 [Del]

I disagree with them - Personally, I found Skyrim lacking.

Hit detection was shoddy, enemy AI sucked, the combat system was easily broken, a lot of the side quests felt tedious... The graphics are nice, and I enjoyed the Thu'ums, but the game overall was a massive disappointment.

Especially since it got so much hype. In my opinion, Skyrim is a so-so game. If you've played one Bethesda game, you have pretty much played all the Bethesda games.

8 Name: Dima : 2011-12-01 23:46 ID:XZEuFSX1 [Del]

So, everyone had said all the popular games, here are some you might wanna try...

1. Ace Combat: Assault Horizon (action pack flying game)
2. Saints Row 3 (very, very, very fun game)
3. Final Fantasy 13 (your typical rpg)
4. Catherine (weird anime puzzle type game)
5. Metal Gears Solid HD collection
6. Gears of War 3 or Uncharted 3 (depending on your system)

hope this helps...

9 Name: sleepology : 2011-12-02 00:15 ID:oiMcBXGh [Del]

10 Name: sleepology : 2011-12-02 00:32 ID:oiMcBXGh [Del]

And yes, you guys/gals are helpful

11 Name: Maeror : 2011-12-02 01:16 ID:tarSMuP5 [Del]

Well, I guess I'll just go ahead and list some of my favorites off of the top of my head.

Persona 3 and 4 (unique JRPGs)
Odin Sphere and Muramasa (Action RPGs with stunning 2D graphics)
All of the GBA and DS Castlevania games (It's Castlevania. Derp.)
Guilty Gear and BlazBlue (Insane 2D fighting games)

Can't think of much else at this moment: tired. Damn, this list makes me seem like a weeaboo.

You could try Monster hunter if you like hard-finger-blistering challenges. I've had Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, on PSP, for over two years now and STILL have a lot of missions left to do.

Bumping till the week ends

19 Name: TanTanTaroooo : 2011-12-03 16:41 ID:uzV8zBz6 [Del]

Fighting game:
Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2 = Alot of characters, fun gameplay, fun to play with friends. (I do not recommend NUNStorm 2 and DBZ UT, but I do recommend NUNSGenerations which is coming soon.)

RPGs:
Fallout 3 = By the creators of Elder Scrolls, an awesome story line with over 100 hours of gameplay, with 4 different ending and a very good radio-system.

Dragon Age Origins = An RPG that feels like you are inside the game with it's well made romance system, tactical system, and action/word of choice. With 6 different endings and has some very fun DLCS. (By Ultimate Edition to get all DLCS.)

Dark Souls = For non-tardy people, very unique multiplayer system and alot of different boss battles.

Skyrim = 305 hours of gameplay + if you become a Vamp or a Werewolf, 350 hours of gameplay, Nuff said'.
(Skyrim and Fallout has a Third person and First person viewing option.)

MY BEST RECOMMENDATION : BUY A PS2, GET DRAGON QUEST 8, HAVE FUN.

26 Name: Sakazaki : 2011-12-10 08:40 ID:vzWuzBqw [Del]

>>25 yes it was. then it was ps2.

27 Name: RanRan : 2011-12-11 02:32 ID:fSKill+d [Del]

Okami on the Wii. Also Okamiden, the sequal, on the DS. Those are great games, but waaaaay too underrated. Their about the wolf reincarnation of Amaterasu, the goddess of the sun, trying to save the world from the evil 8 headed serpant Orochi. Okamiden is the sequal to that, about the son of Amaterasu. Both are very fun, but also very long. But the length just means you get to have more fun. I've only beaten Okamiden, since my wii stopped reading discs and so I cant continue Okami right now, but so far I've loved it.

28 Name: Seraph321 : 2011-12-11 09:15 ID:upqrhObw [Del]

I would highly recommend the new Zelda, Skyward Sword. I just beat it and it is easily one of the best games I've ever played.

29 Name: mechfanboy : 2011-12-11 12:44 ID:wFRDtW2g [Del]

I would recommend these games, sorted by system. Of course, you may or may not have some of them, but nevertheless...

From Nintendo...

N64: Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask (CANNOT RECOMMEND THESE TWO HIGHLY ENOUGH), and Super Smash Bros.

Gamecube: Super Smash Bros. Melee, Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess (I think it came out for Gamecube, if not, then it did for Wii), Fire Emblem Path of Radiance, and the Metroid Prime series.

Wii: Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, Metroid Prime 3, and Metroid: Other M.

Various Nintendo handhelds: Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded, Metroid Zero Mission, and Metroid Fusion.

For Sony....

PlayStation: Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy IX, the first three Spyro the Dragon games, and Ape Escape (looks a little kiddy, but trust me, it's good). Also, the original Digimon World. Admittedly, it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I like it and it's not as kiddy as much of the rest of the franchise.

PlayStation 2: Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII, Dige of Cerberus - Final Fantasy VII - (that last one is a shooter, but it's third-person instead of first-person, and it's still heavily RPG), the entire Kingdom Hearts series (might have Disney characters, but it's not as kiddy as it might first appear), Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, the Ratchet and Clank series, the Jak and Daxter games (only the ones made by Naughty Dog), the Devil May Cry series, and the first two Disgaea games.

PlayStation 3: Final Fantasy XIII, Prototype, inFAMOUS, Folklore, BlazBlue, and Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice. Haven't played the fourth one yet, but it's probably pretty good too.

PSP: Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, Dissidia Duodecim (012) - Final Fantasy -, Crisis Core - Final Fantasy VII -, The 3rd Birthday (again, third-person shooter).

Bump for more recommendations - will be back with some myself later.

31 Name: DAK075 : 2011-12-12 01:45 ID:g++2ARXe [Del]

Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. Enough said.

32 Name: sleepology : 2011-12-12 01:50 ID:JQTd6dmh [Del]

Is not. You must have more then one suggestion for me

33 Name: DAK075 : 2011-12-12 02:00 ID:g++2ARXe [Del]

Well, most of the games I would suggest has already been suggested, but if you want more:

God Hand for the PS2. Fun, challenging, beat 'em up gmae. It is just as challenging to find though. Consider yourself lucky for finding a copy of it, yet alone a new one.

Okami for PS2/Wii. Easier to find on Wii, but I prefer the PS2 version. Based off of Japanese mythology, and is the Zelda of the PS2.

Sin and Punishment: Star Successor for the Wii. Fun and challenging on rails action shooter. (Sounds weird, so you'd be best looking some videos up on it.)

Custom Robo for the GC. Again, look it up. You could watch a playthrough I did of the story on YouTube (which is the oldest and first playthrough of it on YouTube I might add.)

And of course, UMvC3, since I have been loving that game recently.

I was lazy, to suggest more, but you caught me. lol

Hey, I said plenty of things that any normal gamer would want . . . oh wait, nevermind, all I listed were a host of great games that nobody really knows about.

Ummm, have you tried the MGS HD Collection?

Though admittedly, only a select few that are worth it.

42 Name: Suri !djqg1yJyJ6 : 2011-12-25 21:59 ID:g0O955jt [Del]

Well. I do like RPGs. Fighting games are fun, too. I was getting KOF13 regardless, but I dunno what else to get. I'd also like to put in money for Armored Core V. Other than that...my tastes are pretty much everywhere. I just don't do racing and sports games.

44 Name: King Dude !zXqFpoplY6 : 2011-12-26 01:34 ID:yVrEDXZl [Del]

I don't know what you might view as a "kiddie" game, but I'll post a few suggestions anyways.

Skyrim- It has great graphics and I thought it was pretty fun to play. It's also got a shit ton of replay value so if you like it it's worth the 60 bucks.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess- It has better graphics than the previous titles and it's not making Link look like a girl like some of the other LOZ games do.

Mario Kart 64- Classic, and if you have a party it attracts attention like no other.

Fallout 3- It's just like Skyrim, only futuristic.

God of War- It's good ol' Spartan fun.

Warcraft 3- First it's not the same game as WOW, it's like Command & Conquer. It's commanding your army and comes with a program called World Editor that allows you to make your own map.

Halo Custom Edition- I am only putting this because I know there's mods that allow for different playing styles than the default; fps. I actually saw a map that made you Link from LOZ. Give it a shot, you might like it.

If I find more I'll post. I suggest that you rent before you buy just in case you don't like a game. Goodluck!

Also: If you aren't opposed to getting free off the internet, you can get free emulators to play free ROMs. Here's a link to the place to get the emulator, you can get the ROMs by googling the game you want.

45 Name: sleepology : 2011-12-26 02:38 ID:BXkjmelD [Del]

Sim city, nuff said.
Hmmm... saints row 3 if you have an entertaining ally to fuck around with, AC revelations if you havent played it, dead island is pretty good if horror shtuff doesnt freak the bugeezus out of you, and last but not least, angry birds. The epic story of a group of birds must band together to fight for their independence from the traitorous king pig who stole their babies and intended to sacrafice and consume their flesh.

Thanks.

Unless OP really is Sleep. Because, this thread is pretty old. Like, 2011 old.
