Playstation 1? (33)

So, I recently got a poop-ton of my old PlayStation 1 games back. How awesome were those? All these damn kids and their Call of Duty. Nah, but really the old platformers and stuff were so much better, weren't they?

Yesv they where on of my fav PS1 games was Frogger

3 Name: sleepology : 2011-11-28 17:09 ID:nu2ti9du [Del]

MegaMan Legends is where it's at! When I made the transition over to the PS2 (About 3 years after it was released) I kept my Playstation 1 games but traded in the memory card believing that the Playstation 2 memory card would work. I was so disappointed when it didn't. QQ

Spyro, Silent Hill, Legend of Dragoon, Tomb Raider, ah I miss the older systems (I really only had the PS1 and Gameboy color though, and most of the systems after those)

>>4 I did the same think with the card and controller, only to have to buy them back DX

7 Name: sleepology : 2011-11-29 00:23 ID:fR9pnx6L [Del]

>>6 did you ever beat legend of the dragoon? I would always get to maylif and forget to plvl before going to the moon, making me uber weak n always getting killed by ... i think the guy right before mebluframa, in like 2-3 rounds

8 Name: Ayanavi : 2011-11-29 00:42 ID:kmwRCm5A [Del]

>>7 My problem was never beating things, it was the endurance runs.

I never bought potions and healing stuff until I had gotten my ass handed to me repeatedly, so I'd always be OHKO'ing everything and only getting scratches...

But those scratched added up over five god damn hours.

And, of course, the bosses always had this major jump in difficulty. You'd be all cool and okay going through the white dragon shrine, then that asshole thief would show up and fuck up everything with his wires.

>>8 omg fuck that theif, he was such a douchebag, took me so many times to defeat him at first

My favorite PSI one game will all ways be Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver. It was an especially difficult because you had to star from the very beginning every time you could save where ever but you always started at the same place, because of that I was never able it beat it until I bought it on the PSN so I could play it on my PSP. Then I was able to play where ever when ever.

the quality of gaming has improved since the N64 and PS1, but the thing is that because the developers didnt have to worry so much about graphics and sound that they could actually make the game so much more deep and enjoyable. i really love the developers nowadays that actually take TIME to make their game amazing, but now it's all a cash scam to try and make as much money as possible. annualized sequels will be the death of game quality.

>>13 Thats part of the reason I wanted it actually, alot of the new games are rather quick to beat; either the length is just short, or it's so easy to get through that it makes it short.

I hope it's worth it haha, I'm not disappointed yet!

A big part of feeling old consoles/games were generally better is nostalgy. At least in my case. I do enjoy new games though!

...But it is true that I'm trying to run old playstation 1 Spyro games on my PSP heh

>>14 I agree. I WAS younger then, but still. Those games seemed to have something more to them than the new games with improved graphics. Now it is harder to judge games because so many will have attractive graphics.

The amount of colorful explosions sometimes matter.
this isnt topic related but still somewhat.
ever played dynasty warriors and loved the shit out of it cuz of the crazyness? Even if it wasnt super sleek we still loved those games. Now everything is super smooth and now longer the explosiveness we grew to enjoy.

Nostalgia is as good a reason to play older games as anything. I bought an old copy of Ape Escape and was fondly reminded of the many days and hours I spend playing the same levels over and over again. I bought Ape Escape: On the Loose for the PSP and wasn't as thrilled with it. I guess there's something about that PS1/2 controller in your hand while you're trying to catch monkeys? (Oh, and in the PSP remake the other guy totally cheats at racing)

That's one reason I'll never, ever ditch my PS2. I can still play all my old PS1 games on it and I'll love them forever. Incidentally, I wish I could find a copy of Tales of Eternia that didn't cost a freaking small child D: Why are all the PS1 games so expensive? XD;

love the ps1 games, they had so much thought into dynamics and and story line. not to mention that the gameplay was hardly ever gliched unlike the new gen consoules.

Bump over stupid troll.

I think I remember some old Madden game on the PS1 in my grandma's house. Playing that shit for hours when I was 5 or 6 was legit. I had no consoles at that point. It was awesome. Ah, memories.
