Saw a thread like this one under anime, but I'm hard pressed to think of one that's made me tear up. But I can think of a couple video games so here we are! Cautionary spoiler warning for any games mentioned here.

Persona 3 was the first game in the Shin Megami Tensei series I ever played. So I went into it completely naive to certain recurring elements such as apocalyptic scenarios and unhappy endings... -_- I can get through a lot of things without so much as a watery eye, but this game had me bawling on at least three occasions... Not to deter anyone, it's an awesome game and introduced me to the equally awesome rest of the series but it's pretty heart rending.

Next there's the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney series! I played through those three back to back and it's been awhile so it's a little difficult to pick out the individual cases and which game they're from but the two moments I remember most distinctly are(spoilers!):

During the bonus sixth case in the ds version of the first game, when you are forced to paint Ema as Neil Marshall's actual killer. And Mia and Maya Fey's reunion at the end of the second case of the second game. Hell, I was liable to get teary eyed just from hearing the Turnabout Sisters Theme for awhile after that.

And there's plenty of other prime tearjerker candidates in the game. They have their own TvTropes page! Lastly, there was Valkyria Chronicles. I wasn't even playing it at the time, was watching my brother. One word: Isara. ;_;

Want your sister to stay alive and love you? Sure.
Want your childhood friend to stay with you? Sure.
Want your country to be saved? Sure.
Want any of those things to happen simultaneously? NOPE.

Then to top it off..

Sister lives and loves you? YEAH. But you die, and your childhood friend is killed, probably by you, and your country falls apart.

Childhood friend lives? Hell yeah! But sister is kidnapped and killed and you die trying saving her. Or your country.

Save country? Abandon your sister, use your friend until he dies, and alienate everyone else. Then get assassinated yourself later.

I can't even tell you how much it sucks to make your Sister die/hate you.... When she is the only person in the entire game who will support you, and believe in you.

....This game has no happy endings.
It has no bittersweet endings.

The only endings possible are ones that make you miserable.

Hmm, well Sonic Adventure 2's ending had Shadow fall from space...made me cry some.
Then there was Sonic Adventure, when Gamma blew up, made me tear up more than Shadow's presumed death.

I also cried a little from Persona 3's ending...well, Persona 3 Portable. The whole final 2 months of the game left me so depressed for a while just contemplating what was going to happen...it felt like the whole world was just falling apart. That game was just genius...

Okamiden is set to be like a children's story, but I still felt a little choked up at the end. I won't spoil anything, because it's a great game and everyone should play it.

it would have to be final fantasy 7, and final fanstasy 7 crisis core. When aris dies it completly tears me up. and ate the end of crisis core when zack dies and goes with angeal. man i was crying for days.

Final Fantasy X. The whole game was depressing for me. Then when you had to actually kill Jecht it made me cry.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. For all those heart wrenching moments.....

Mine was Pokemon:Explorers of Time/Darkness. The part where Grovile shoved Dusknoir into the portal and his speech before that. So sad....

Metal Gear Solid 4 when Snake was about to kill himself

Metal Gear Solid 4, when snake was crawling through the big microwave, raiden gets stabbed like five times, and meryl was being shot trying to hold off the B&B henchmen

world of warcraft, the lich king final cut scene.... it was so sad....

Never thought that would happen from an MMO of all things but doing a quest to perform funerary rites for the tauren who didn't make it out of Camp Taurajo when it was razed by the alliance while surrounding looters picked the bones of the charred remains did it for me.

Final Fantasy IX hands down. That's just my favorite. I replay it every now and again and I still get chills.

The happy ending to Heavy Rain made me cry. It was so beautiful after the case had been solved and how the father was reunited with his son. Yeas so happy for them even though they aren't real people.

Skyrim. It is so beautiful.

Shadow of the Colossus, of course. Made me question my actions completely.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Man, that ending.

Most recently, Fate/Extra had me bawling when I finally came around to having to defeat Rin. Serves me right for saving Rani.

Hotel Dusk. When you actually found out the truth of what happened, it was more than just a little upsetting.

I'm sure there have been more, but I can't think of them right now.

I cried like a little girl at the end of Crisis Core. Robot chicken came on shortly after so I was laughing and crying which just made me cry more when I remembered why I was crying.

I teared up at the end of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, were Xion fights you to assimilate Roxas's memories, to save Sora. The cut scenes really got to me.

I've cried at a few Ace Attorney games, as well as every single Professor Layton game.

Pretty much all of my emotions come out when I play video games lmao

But yeah, in Professor Layton: Miracle Mask, I cried a lot over Randall. I also teared up in the first game (Curious Village) when I got Flora.

Ace Attorney didn't make me cry that much, but I did when I thought about the characters. Like, poor Apollo. Poor, poor Apollo... he didn't deserve it. He didn't deserve any of it.

I'm getting sad just talking about it. Augh.

the walking dead....the feels :(

As a few others, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky caused me to cry a lot. Grovyle's sacrifice and that ending...

Also Blue Rescue Team got me really sad when everyone in town, except for a few Pokémon, turns on you. Then the main character and partner, who's loyalty is very heartwarming (as well as those Pokémon who still had faith in the hero), become fugitives and have to run for their lives. The main character doesn't even know if they are guilty of the crime they supposedly committed. That makes the situation that much sadder.

Also Gates to Infinity got me to cry as well. The Gurdurr incident and the ending. That speech the partner gives was so touching and made leaving that much harder. The hero doesn't even come back after the credits unlike its predecessors. Playing as the partner and seeing how he/she was affected by the hero's departure and seeing the decision they make in regards to the hero. Then seeing the partner act on their decision...

Pokemon x because (spoiler alert) you join the looker baurue then looker leaves.

Bioshock Infinite, after see it like 3 times and undertand the story and that end in the room and the baby....TwT the feels man, the feels.

Ehmm... the ending to FF7 Crisis Core left me teary eyed for a week, Kingdom Hearts 2 tore my heart, Kingdom Hearts 357/7 days broke my heart, Kingdom Hearts bbs left me empty hearted (jeezuz Kingdom Hearts plss, I swear these series just keeps the feels going ;_;). Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask was really depressing (lord of god, it left me some good childhood nightmares), Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (yes, I'm a cheesy person, but I do admit I cried when Midna left, haha, that scene crested a hole in my sister's heart), and the ending to Skyword Sword kid of made me tear up.
Nexxxttt up, is actually Dangan Ronpa, especially when it came to Mondo's case. Really cheesy, but seeing Ishimaru's world crashing had me tearing up, to be honest. The same goes with Sakura's case (no need to spoil things :3). In the second game, Pekoyama, Gundam, and Nanami's case basically did the same :(
Another game I cries over is Journey. This conversationless game was amazing, you were a wanderer stuck in the middle of a desert; the music was gorgeous, the graphics were flawless, and the story was amazing, but it was just so simple. Seeing that end left me really emotionally happu, and I couldn't help but cry. It was so beautiful.
And there is also Phoenix Wright. The main one that just hit me hard was Godot's case from Trials and Tribulations. Damn, I love him. He's a great character, but after knowing the truth, looking back at Mia's death made me tear up.
Yeaup, I has more. I also remember crying after getting the bad end of "Ib", with the forgotten portrait. Yeah, let's not.
Then there was Witch's House, which that ending hit me hard in the feels, I was legitimately crying and sniffing over that bad end. And then there was the one other game.... and that...


Ha, I'm so cheesy. Look at me. Hahahah.

Outlast, not tears of sadness, but tears of fear telling myself I don't want to play anymore and not falling asleep at night.

Sonic adventure 2 battle, because it was my first videogame and shadow my first crush in someway, i had 10 years when i saw him falling to the earth, when i bought the game i remember i did not know how to start, it really was my first time so when i saw the menu, choose your side, i select the dark side because i see the black hedgehog and i though it was more cute than the blue, and i really care about him all the whole game waiting to see him free from that stupid revenge, i really grow fonder of him, so can you imagine how sad i feel when sonic enter to the room just whith a ring of him? it was my first time falling in love in a characters story and i saw him die! I cried a lot that day, i run to my room and went to sleep early so no one would see me crying, "my precious little hedgehog is dead, my shadow die"

I play League of Legends and I can tell you I cry every day, every game.

I was really rooting for Lee, The Walking Dead just spares nobody sigh ಥ_ಥ The Last of Us, Pokemon Mystery dungeon, Legend of Zelda twilight princess (I had a weird attachment thing for Midna), Fragile Dreams (I feel like the creators for this game really want the audience to suffer), To the moon and Spyro (I was six years old and I finished all the worlds that threw me into frustration so you're damn right I cried)

Kingdom Hearts and Metal Solid Gear

Kingdom Hearts..... Was probably the best game I've ever played in terms of it was just a great game. Especially compared to the fact that final fantasy games at the time were not nearly as good as they are now with the exception of Final Fantasy 7 which they are redoing and DAMN its beautiful. Can't wait for KH3. Shout out to all of you who think that Kairi and Aerith are cool as hell. Why do we have to wait so long.

The whole Shinjiro arc in Persona 3 emotionally killed me. After watching the 2nd P3 movie a long time after playing the game, those feelings definitely haven't changed.

The Last Story is the only game that have made me tear up so far... especially when dagran said "we've had some good times" i just never won that fight it's because my tears are in the way.
