After my post about Final Fantasy X, I got to wondering, is that everyone's favorite? It couldn't be EVERYONE'S.
Aaaaaaanyway, what's everyone's favorite Final Fantasy and why? I'd have to say mine is 9 for a lot of reasons. Nine had my favorite battle style of all the games in it with the best part of VI in it. The characters were mostly cool and the story was great.

VI, Tactics, IX, VII,
seven is nostalgic, IX was the best traditional FF for Playstation.
VI is my hands down favorite of all time, due to the fact I played it first. Nothing will ever beat the story or game mechanics, or even just the little secrets in the game. Not to me.
And I think Tactics has the single most amazing storyline of any final fantasy. It was, and is, a masterpiece of story telling that deviates tremendously from the cookie-cutter "save the world, be hero" style... Really, entire walls of text could be written in praise of it.
Tactics is probably tied with favorite for me. VI only competes due to nostalgia.

Stories are great!!!..every series brings you to a new adventure like no other!!...the story of the compilation of FFVII really got me...it's the best for me and will always stay in my memories and heart...The others go the same as well...Be it gameplay, Timeline, story, graphics..OR WHATEVER THE SHIT IS...SQUARE ENIX'S FINAL FANTASY SERIES NEVER FAIL TO AMUSE ME...SQUARE ENIX FOR THE WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I will always know FFVI as Final Fantasy III. It's what i grew up with.
But with the DS releases, people think III is that crappy bobble head one... So I adapted.

III DS was stupidly hard. The story wasn't all that great either and I hated the battle style. The graphics were awful, but it's Final Fantasy and for some reason I kinda enjoyed it.

I like all of them, even though I've only played X, X-2, Crisis Core, VIII, XIII, and Dissidia. They all seem to have different things that I like most in a certain game and few things I hate.

a little off-topic, but i'm digging this back up to say that the playstation store will now be getting a lot of my money now that i have discovered that they have FF 4-9 for download. already bought 7, plan on getting 6 next, does anyone here have suggestions on which one i should get after that?

final fantasy 7 is the greatest NON LINEAR game of ALL TIME!!!!!
it is the one game in the final fantasy series with good graphics and isnt a tunnel.

My favorite is 8, then 6 (mistranslated to 3, when it really isn't 3) then 7, then 9, then 10.
7 is overrated enough to not be the best, but good enough to be one of my favorite games.
Also they do plan to remake 7 for the PS3, or the upcoming PS4. (My brother works in Hitachi, and they mentioned that the PS4 is being made now, and should be released between 1-4 years or so.) They only haven't because the original team can't get together yet, as they stated that is the only reason why they haven't, yet.
