Honestly I really don't see the point in playing Pokemon competitively, I just play cuz it's fun and I enjoy it, bringing competition into the mix just adds unneeded complications

That could be said for any video game not just pokemon. Don't get me wrong I love pokemon and enjoy playing it but once u play it competitively..there's tiers, metagame, there are rules. If someone is exploiting them just to get an easy win, that just sucks.

well for the sake of some silly principle i have, i usually don't like playing with legendaries. uber tier or otherwise. and i usually discourage the use of other ubers, but it isn't like i wont allow them. i would feel bad about saying "no garchomp" when it is illegitimately your favorite pokemon. and only legitimate pokemon. no hacked mons.

so, no legendaries, only legitimate mons, and use of ubers is discouraged, but not against the rules. oh, and the match will probably be 6 on 6 with the levels rounded to 50, like they are in the subway.

I consider competitive pokemon battling to be less meta-training and equipment, and more along the lines of "here, have six random pokemon. Your opponent has six random pokemon at the same levels. play."

It takes much less skill to properly train a team and equip them than it does to be able to adapt and understand your pokemon's strengths and weaknesses and make the best of it... But I guess there's no room for that kind of silliness is your little metagame world :V

These days people don't have just random pokemon. they usually consist of 2 walls, Defensive and Sp. Defensive, A lead pokemon, Physical Attacker, Sp. Attacker and the last one could be another wall, another Attacker anything. Plus these days with weather wars. Most teams would have something that sets up a weather, Rain, Sun ,sandstorm,etc. ,and other pokemon that would benefit from said weather and also trick room. Half of the better players HAVE to know what each pokemon does, learn each pokemons weaknesses, what each pokemon can do. When i see the first pokemon my opponent brings out depending on what type of pokemon he is, i can then predict what it's going to do and bring out a Wall, or a pokemon that is going to counter it. it's not just random. Plus, I like using UU,under used, pokemon that are definitely weaker than OU, overused, pokemon to beat opponents that are FILLED with teams of OU whorey-ness, It more challenging. And only proves your skill. Pokemon is not only about training and giving good items to your pokemon, once you do that the REAL test beginning, its all about prediction and your knowledge of pokemon.

I understand what you are saying, on Pokemon Online there is Challenge cup, where you are given 6 random pokemon and have to battle with them. Also, playing on wifi, when you are about to battle someone, you can see your opponent's pokemon and are given the liberty to change the order, so you can put any other pokemon as your lead to try to mess with your opponent. that also makes it a bit more challenging. Getting 6 random pokemon might be more challenging and fun even, but it's not better than training your own pokemon with your own sets and moves. And also there is something called, Roulette battles, Where you organize all your pokemon tell your opponent how many pokemon you have. So lets say i have 100 pokemon, my opponent then randomly picks 6 numbers in between 1-100. Thus i would choose the pokemon that are in that spot in my boxes. You count from your first box in the first row, Left to right and continue. that's pretty much how it works.

Oh god, I remember leading a scam for my friends. I made up all this hype about zoroarks and they missed the event, so I started mass IV breeding them. I got so many legendary pokemon, although I can't use them for my official Pokemon Black team. (It's a pride thing between trainers, legendaries are considered 'cheating')

As for FC, I don't have enabled wifi, just because I'm too lazy to change the security type for it. MAYBE ONE DAY!

Are Zorua/Zoroark legendaries? They are in the anime; but Arcanine are technically legendary by that logic (Pokedex entry and first episode) I don't think they are (since you can't breed legendaries besides Rotom and Manaphy) and since they evolve, while no legendaries evolve.

And if anybody wants a Zorua, I now have some to trade off.

I need some advice.
I'm facing a buddy tomorrow (in commemoration of the one-year anniv. since B&W came out) that I've lost against every time I battled him.

We shared our lineups in order to strategize. That said, I suck at strategizing. So this is your chance to help Yata out and give me some tips on how to beat him.

His lineup:Samurott, Zekrom, Reshiram, Volcarona, Throh, and Zoroark. All are level 100.

My now restricted lineup and each's moves. (*means it was PP Max'd):
-Samurott
Hydro Cannon*, Surf, Ice Beam, Hyper Beam*
-Reshiram
Dragon Pulse*, Fly, Solarbeam, Blue Flare*
-Kyurem
Blizzard*, Ice Beam, Dragon Pulse*, Draco Meteor*
-Volcarona
Fiery Dance, Hurricane, Bug Buzz, Psychic
-Terrakion
Close Combat, Sacred Sword, Stone Edge, Earthquake
-Rotom (Grass variation)
Shadow Ball, Discharge, Thunderbolt, Leaf Storm

All but Kyurem are currently level 100, but he should be by tomorrow.

So help Yata out! Give me some strategy. And let me beat my real-life rival just this once.

First, make sure you laugh @ his face before the game starts. Why? His team sucks.
Next, laugh at yourself for losing to him every. single. time.

Alright, first, I'll discuss your team. Your team is weak. I'm saying that because:
1) Trainers with any sense of pride or dignity don't use legendaries. That's like cheating.
2) Nobody uses their starter pokemon in a team. That's just taboo. I understand that people may have an emotional connection with it, but no.
3) OUT OF ALL THE BADASS ROTOMS, YOU PICK GRASS?!

However, both of you seem to disregard said points completely, so I'll focus on strengthening your team.

Strategy.
You want a pokemon with large HP so you can switch out when dying. Try to get a Drifblim. It gives you many benefits.
1. It's a flying type, which is super-effective against Throh, a fighting type.
2. It has massive HP, which makes is a suitable tank.
3. It has baton-pass, so you can switch out with Damage Dealers.

That's pretty much all you need. If you have a Chandelure or a Drifblim, use them by all means.

If not, then focus on your Kyurem and Terrakion. They have quite a few strengths against your enemy's pokemon. Kyurem has the largest HP, so try to keep it out. However, withdraw it when Reshriam, Zekrom and Volcarona are active. They're both dragon types, which are super-effective and whatnot. If you want to kill Zekrom, use Samurott and spam Ice Beam. If you want to kill Reshriam, use Terrakion and spam Earthquake. (Or you can sacrifice your own Reshriam.)

Now your problem comes with Zoroark and Samurott. Zoroark is generally a pain in the ass to kill, while Rotom is generally weak as fuck. If you can't kill Samurott with Rotom, use Terrakion or Kyurem. Ice moves don't work and water is super-effective against Ground, so you can't expect to kill it with ease. When you get to Zoroark, use Volcarona. Zoroark is weak to bug and fire, but Volcarona is weak to bug as well, so you should be careful.

Next time you're going to play, get a better team. For future references, here are some fucking badass pokemon. (From Unova)

Zoroark, Drifblim, Chandelure, MAGIKARP, Reuniclus, Jellicent, Hydreigon, etc. Bouffalant, Krookodile. (I'd list more, but -lazy.)

Note how they're all Ghost/Psychic/Dark. You can't go wrong with those types. Having them as dual type pokemon make them even better. /o/ Have fun, tell me if you win or not.

Bread did explain a few good things but some of the things you said bro, were kind of off.

You wouldn't want Samurott go against Zekrom, Its also an electric type so it wont stand a chance. Terrakion is you best choice to kill both Reshiram and Zekrom. You can almost completely wall his Volcaronawith you Reshiram. Zoroark isn't weak against fire.Volcarona isnt weak to bug, but yes Volcarona is you best bet against Zoroark.Your Rotom can counter his Samurott easily.Last is Throh, it would be best to just use a pokemon that will overpower it since you do not have a pokemon that can hit it super effective other than Volcarona. Kyurem tho it does have alot of good stats and moves, it's typing really fucks him over. Do not use kyurem against Throh. its weak to fighting.

Also using moves like hyper beam and hydro cannon is VERY nooby. its not worth the power. The turn he is recharging your opponent can set up or kill your pokemon.

You also might want to take off Blizzard from your Kyurem. 50 accuracy is not worth the power of that attack.

Im on my phone so excuse my bad grammar.

You also mght want to take off Fly and Solar beam from Reshiram. Replace them With Draco meteor and flamethrower or something.

Samurott take off hydro cannon and add Hydro pump. It really doesnt have anything else so..you can leave hyper beam.

Volcarona, You might want to teach it Quiver dance its a great move that raises its Sp.Attack and Speed by 1.5, tho i would take out psychic for that move, its way better to have it in your case to take out his Throh. Everything else is fine. So quiver dance, fiery dance, psychic, bug buzz.

Kyurem take off blizzard like I said and you may want to add focus blast. But if you really want blizzard, give it Hone claws, that raises attack and accuracy. i made an original moveset of that. its pretty awesome.

Some of the moves i told you to give your pokemon are Tms and some you might need Heart scales, so make sure you have some.

Thanks for pointing out my mistakes. As for your advice, he's playing his friend tomorrow, so I'm not too sure if he's going to be able to replace/remove certain moves.

If all else fails, use FULL RESTORES. All the time. I think they let you use it over wifi battle. I don't know, things have changed. If you want to own him legitimately, don't use then (at least not until he does.)

Burnout is of course my Fire type #2, and doubles as my flying type. He pretty much exchanges one weakness for another, but can do pretty much everything he might need to, taking on enemies like a true pro, but his best features come from working with the next Pokemon on my list.

Garon is the closest thing I have to a legendary. Or course, he has some of the best stats, so he's pretty much a powerhouse. He oneshots anything he faces, sometimes. The rest of the time, he either takes huge hits and keeps going, or he takes even bigger hits and gets knocked out. Draco Meteor pretty much established itself as a once-per-battle move, but that's OK, it kicks ass.

OK, so my party is lacking much in the way of defense, but it's not my only team. I have a second party I'm working on that's much more on the tankier side. And with that, I finish this extra-long post.

I think after DP in terms of extra content it just became a little too much. I really couldn't get into BW/BW2 because of not only trying to get used to a COMPLETELY new generation of pokemon all at once but also the confusing gameplay. I dunno what happened there haha. It got slightly better with XY though.

Although the Pokemon following behind you is nice, I will say. My favorite was when you could go to that park in DP in Hearthome city and walk around with one of your Pokemon and get free items (although it was BS about which ones you could only take, and that it was such a small selection pft)
