AKA Moebots.

Friend of mine got me into this in the past couple of days, and it's art reminds me of the old PSX games - Or even PS3's "Hyper Dimension Neptune" game. The concept is simple - You start the game, choose your starter mech, choose your faction, have fun.

Lets take a closer look.

Starting the game requires an extremely fast sign up, and then the download of a tiny (550mb or less currently) file that will install and set up the game on your computer. After that, just launch it and log in.

note: The normal mode gives me a weird resolution. Haven't figured out how to change it, so I just launch in Safemode.

Now that you're logged in, choose your starter bot!

Your choices are...

Crimrose - Airmech. Mid range aerial harassment.
Jikun-Hu - Landmech. Melee focused.
Lily Rain - Artillery Mech. Long range bombardment.

Now those are your starters, but you can also buy other bots (and sometimes win them as drops). All of the bots can be customized with different weaponry and accessories and parts to create something to fit your playstyle preference.

After you choose your mech and you go through a short tutorial that is impossible to lose in, you're thrown headfirst into the game.

The majority of this game revolves around 3 things. Team battles, Union battles, and Missions.

Missions are the PvE aspect of this game, where either you or a party can get together and challenge a staged dungeon with bosses and bonus stages to get Experience and item drops, as well as money and other interesting little trinkets. The bosses can get pretty insane, and you need to learn the strengths and weaknesses of your mech before you go charging headlong into a fight.

IE: My first mission, I accidentally tried to take on an Anti-Air Mobile Macross Missile Spam boss with... Crimrose, a somewhat squishy aerial mech. No matter how awesome you are at dodging - There is no end to the pain.

Aside from missions (The missions have the storyline, by the way), there are union and team battles. Team Battles are just what you think they are - just goofing off and running a team against another team. You get XP and items sometimes.

Union battles are like teambattles... but generally go anywhere from 10vs10 to 30vs30 bots at a time, with missile and beam spam everywhere. Aerial bots zipping in and out, melee bots rushing under cover fire, and artillery bots making this line of death towards the back.

These matches win you XP, Items, and gives your faction reputation boosts - Every week you have this really important battle that determines which faction is the most hardcore of the three.

Anyway, that's Cosmic Break. Small file, works fairly well even on extremely terrible connections (mine), and has a massively customizable and fast-paced gameplay.

Any of you play this or are interested in it? I'm Wisdom faction, because Icy is Boss.

Yes, the thread image is a rainmeter skin. It was the best picture of toybox-chan I could find.

Ah, this. Cosmic Break is surprisingly fun, but it gets boring without other people I knew (kind of like other MMOs there...). I stopped playing, but I could start up again if some other people come on. Maybe I'll see Aya in game as I'm also Wis.

Aya, you left out Quest mode. Quest mode is basically roaming around on a largish map blowing up infinitely respawning NPCs that hit back in an attempt to get them to drop stuff, whilst rushing to find the keys for the next portal before time runs out. You basically grind this mode for items to use in the Cosmo Pot (think item enchanting) and certain parts/accessories. If you want money, grind PvP. If you want experience, grind Missions.

To clarify at this point, there are two different types of experience - one effect your player rank and what rooms you can access in PvP and what bots you can purchase in the store, and the other goes towards individual bots that were used which levels them up and allows you to give them a permanent boost/ability called a cartridge. Note that they can not be changed/removed, so choose carefully.

Also, Crimrose can be teched up to a mobile sniper bot at higher levels - two of her cartridges hide her from radar and stop opponents from knowing you've locked on to them. Lily is basically just bulking her up to use bigger and bigger guns, as well as increasing damage resistance. I know nothing about how Jikun-Hu levels as I never use melee, sorry.

Bump as this game really needs more love and attention from MMO players. I've seen them shoot it down for looking too "kiddy", but it's a lot more fun than it looks on first glance.

I'm gonna try this tomorrow.

Oh, I was actually going to try this a few months back.
I was reading up on the starter bots and factions, couldn't decide what I would choose and so I decided I would come back to it later.

I never did.

TY for reminding me about this.

For those of you who couldn't be bothered playing due to the amount of work required to get the good stuff, Cosmic Break is starting a campaign called the Perfect Attendance Campaign on Thursday the 29th. Basically, log in every day for 30 days, and you'll get several useable cubes that give you a random rare/high-end bot for free.

I'm Dr_Stein in-game by the way.

>>7 Well, it's actually "log-in everyday and play a full game of Union Wars" to get an 'Attendance Card', the number of which determine how many [RO] cubes (I think that's the type?) you get".

But w/e.

So yeah, this game is actually pretty fun. One month after getting it, I have a nice Seraph; still need to tune it though :\
And after getting a Vanguard Axer, I can actually appreciate melee now.
