Seriously, though, the second game is for the most part removed from the first. The second game is for the most part a stand-alone plot, but there are a lot of references you'll miss without playing the first one.
That said, play the first one and leave it at that. I didn't think Bioshock 2 was all that great.

I'm going through my 4th play-through right now. Scariest part in that game? Happens in Fort Frolic. If you played it, then you know what I mean.
I literally had adrenaline spikes from that particular area.

I havnt played it myself but one of those robots, bit Daddy i Think it was named, Kinda stalked Me under uppcon( a Convention in Sweden)

I love the story of the first one, specifically I love the whole "Would you kindly?" affair. Since the only way to continue the game was to complete objectives that were proposed to you in this manner, it kind of broke the fourth wall and made it feel like I was the one who was under mind control.
The second one was good, too, but I didn't think that it was as good as the first. I can't wait for Bioshock:Infinite, though. I'm excited to see how the story develops when it takes place outside of Rapture.
