I've been playing Gen V for a few months now (even if I can only understand half of whats being said) It is awesome. It's the little details that have made me like it so much. So very much excited for it to be out in english so I can understand the storyline properly.
Although I need a new DS first...

That's actually half the reason I've been playing it in Japanese, to work out which pokemon are actually worth training.

I missed 3rd Gen because I was too in love with my silver version. Finally caught up after 4th Gen was out.

None of the electric types really appealed to me, so I was going to give buffalon a TM (because you know, Lambo from KHR :P)
With this team though, I suppose I'll need an Fly HM slave.

Depending on the availability of pokemon from earlier generations though I may end up with a different team, but this would be my only-gen V team :P

Interesting thought about using only four for the elite four though. Doesn't the champion have 6 usually though?

That's funny, because this generation has had the most appealing Electric types for me (Tarantesla, Derpflounder, Zapbra, etc).

I believe you aren't allowed to trade over Pokemon from previous gens. till after the E4.

Oh and Goruggo can learn Fly.

I figured as much, but I read in white version there's a forest that has a lot of stuff from previous generations. I'll spend some time in there.

The only pokemon game I ever tried playing was Yellow. And that was in elementary school. I think I got like 3 badges or something before I quit... Lately I've been thinking about trying to play again, and hearing a lot of people being excited about black&white is making me want to kinda play.. Should I get it? It was raining so I refused to leave my house to buy it. I then downloaded the file for the r4, but realized you can't gain experience. I tried to patch it but failed multiple times (spent around 2 hours trying). Probably just gonna pick it up in 2 days.

My little brother bought me my first DSi only cuz the games with it. xD He has black and I have White. But my dsi looks badass it has both those pokemon on it outlined in gray and it says pokemon white xD <3 i love my little brother.

i bought the black version on friday and i already played it through today~ it is definetely the best pokemon game so far imo :D

Just got White version yesterday, and oh god oh god it's amazing.

Aesthetically speaking, I'm so damned impressed. Everything about it, the 3D graphics and the moving sprites and the music - I really like the music. Did anyone notice in that one town where there's a drum and a piano, and they add onto the background music when you talk to them? It's little tidbits like that that I really appreciate.
And I've never appreciated the accordion as much as I have in this game. The rival(s) fight music is so damned catchy.

I also like that battles don't take fucking forever anymore. You don't have to wait for the health bar to inch its way down, it just cuts. And the double battles have taken more precedence in this game too - I never played fourth gen games, but I remember wanting more of that back when I played Sapphire. I can't wait for triple battles.

Anyway, getting to the third gym now. Bacon the tepig and I have some ass to kick.

I finished the game the day after it came out. Pretty short game, but most Pokemon games are. I caught all the legends I can catch, except for Landonis, cause i need Tornadus.

I know it's just pokemon, but the amount of detail they put into the little aspects of this game is too staggering to blow through in a single day, to me.

I'm only at Nimbasa at the moment.

On top of that, I can't figure out how to configure my wifi settings. It's apparently an issue with the router itself, some setting I have to change - I need to figure out the password without altering my parents to the fact I bought this game on my own money.

Am I the only one who thinks the Pokemon franchise should really end with generation?
I mean, I stopped playing at 3rd gen, because I don't have a DS,
but really, what can you even do after Black and White?

If you ask me, the 3rd release for this generation should just be Pokemon; and include all of the regions, with a chance to catch everything. You know, go out with a bang.

But why the hell would they do that, when they can just wait a few years, and release another game on a new batch of kids, as well as the die-hard fans?

I just got Pokemon Black (for Reshiram xD). and started it the other day (still in the second gym though).

I played third gen, and I went "man it's just going downhill from here."
I skipped fourth gen completely and talked about how second gen at most was the best.
I got fifth gen and I can't stop playing it.

I feel like they made a huge improvement in gen V - they made things slightly more serious, improved heavily on aesthetics as well as gameplay mechanics, and the new pokemon aren't so bad either once you get used to it. It's like they built it on the complaints of the vocal minority that were saying it's too childish, predictable, and just stupid.

I feel like they did a good job, personally, and this is speaking from the perspective of someone who wouldn't play anything passed Crystal version for a long time. With this in mind, I can't say whether or not making another generation won't be able to bring anything new to the series...

I agree with one thing though. A mega game with Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova playable? Do want.

Because I named my Pidove (now Tranquill) Carl when I got it, and I had absolutely no reason behind it.

Just waiting around for my friend to catch up there was so much to do before the fourth gym. I had a whole few days of exploration before I got tired of it and moved on, and I don't think I even explored everything (desert ruins for example)

I caught Kyurem the other day. Also, when I was biking around in the grass in Giant Chasm I ran in to a wiggling patch of grass that had a level 55 Metagross in it. It was really BA.

I find it gratifying to level up multiple teams, so you can mix and match the strengths and weaknesses you learn from using them.

That said, I seem to be cursed with never making a balanced team right off the bat. They always have some glaring weakness.

...The only reason I never leveled a Scrafty before was because I didn't want to copy King.
